Chapter 6 Do A Handstand

Nobody wanted to sit next to Brian.

And nobody even bothered to hide their contempt for him.

Brian clenched his fists and stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

Kim, who was sitting at the head of the table, looked at Brian with a smug smile.

He had only invited Brian to dinner because he wanted to see Brian make a fool of himself.

"Brian, why don't you just stand in the corner over there? After all, you deal with scraps all day long. You stink a little!" Kim sneered.

"Kim's right. Brian, if you feel too tired standing, you can also squat there on the floor. Don't worry. We'll throw you some scraps to eat." With a cigarette in his mouth, Dan Brand jabbed his finger at a corner of the room as he spoke to Brian.

The crowd burst into laughter, pointing at and mocking Brian with open disdain.

Brian's face turned red. He was sick and tired of feeling powerless. At that moment, he wished he could just walk away.

Finally, Maggie couldn't stand it anymore. She pulled Brian to her side and smiled at him warmly. "Brian, you can sit next to me."

Brian looked up at her gratefully. Maggie was the only person who ever showed him any semblance of warmth.

He sat down next to her and set his bag on his lap. "Thank you, Maggie."

When Kim saw that Maggie had helped Brian out again, his face turned purple from anger.

He grabbed the menu from the table and sneered loudly, "Brian, have you ever eaten Australian lobster before? I doubt it. When we're done eating, I'll let you lick the shell. That way, you can brag to others that you've tried it!"

Once again, everyone's eyes were focused on Brian.

Brian could feel the disdain and contempt in their stares.

Just then, Jeanne covered her nose dramatically and cried, "Brian, can you keep your trash bag away from me? Maybe you don't think it's stinky, but I do!"

Her words aroused everyone's interest. They all fixed their eyes on the bag in Brian's arms, sneering at him with disdain.

Now, Kim took the lead. "Hey, didn't Mr. Tennant say that his bag was full of money?"

"Pfft! If he has a single dollar bill in there, I'll do a handstand on the spot," Dan flicked the ash off his cigarette and said lazily.

Kim smiled at Brian evilly. "Well, Brian, since you're so rich, how about we split the bill? 50-50! What do you think?"

It didn't take a genius to know that Kim was deliberately making things difficult for Brian.

Thinking of the humiliation he had suffered thanks to Kim, Brian couldn't help but clench his fists angrily. Besides, he had five hundred thousand dollars in cash in his bag. He could definitely afford this meal!

"No problem," Brian agreed loudly.

Kim faltered slightly, confused by Brian's words. He just wanted to embarrass Brian and show off in front of everyone.

He was supposed to kill two birds with one stone. He never expected that Brian would agree so readily.

Maggie tugged at Brian's sleeve worriedly. She wanted to dissuade him. But when she met Brian's firm gaze, she swallowed her words.

At least, if worst came to worst, she could pay for Brian.

Kim broke into a smile once more and clapped his hands. "Okay! It's settled then. Waiter, we're ready to order!"

When the waiter approached, Kim looked at the menu and said with a flourish, "I want the 1288-dollar foie gras, the 1688-dollar Australian lobster, the..."

Kim deliberately announced the prices as he ordered the most expensive items on the menu.

That way, he could embarrass Brian and show off his wealth in front of everyone.

After he ordered several dishes, the bill had reached nearly twenty thousand dollars.

Kim had a monthly allowance of fifty thousand dollars, so although these dishes were expensive, he could afford them.

More importantly, Maggie was here. He had to show her just how wealthy he was.

Jeanne held Kim's arm and said sweetly, "Every dish here costs more than a thousand dollars. Kim, you're so generous! Unlike someone here who has no money but still pretends to be rich. What a poser!"

Kim enjoyed Jeanne's praise very much. He puffed out his chest like a proud peacock and said, "I love treating my classmates to dinner. Please help yourselves."

Everyone echoed Jeanne's sentiments. "You're so generous, Kim!"

"Kim, we love you!"

Kim smiled and handed the menu over to Brian. "Your turn, Mr. Tennant."

Brian ignored Kim's mockery and took the menu from him. He quickly skimmed through the prices of the dishes.

The old Brian would've fainted. But the present Brian was rich.
