Chapter 9 Our Maid Sara

Sara had alot of fun with the two kids that day but she was busy on the phone.

She was trying to get a doctor who could try and treat Eden as she paid in instalments but no doctor was ready to do that.

She was feeling frustrated about it but just accepted the situation.

Later in the day, some doctors came in the house.

"How may i help you?" Asked Sara

"We are here for Mr Mehta's treatment" said one of the doctors.

They were five of them.

"Mr Mehta? Isn't he dead?" Asked Sara in shock

"God forbid! Who said the general is dead? Please, let us go and do what we do everyday" said another doctor.

"But i can't let you in without Mrs Mehta's permission. What if you are thieves?" Asked Sara and they gasped.

"This is an insult. I'll call Mrs Mehta right away" said the first doctor and called Mrs Mehta who asked to talk to Sara.

"Sara, how dare you insult the doctors? Get the keys in the locker at the study room and give it to them. Listen, don't go to my room. Only allow the doctors" said Mrs Mehta.

"Okay ma'am" said Sara and rushed to the study room to get the keys.

"I'm sorry doctors" she said and went back to Eden's room.

He was trying to complete a house puzzle with Shanel.

"Hey guys, you never told me Mr Mehta is alive. I thought he was dead!" Said Sara and the kids gasped.

"My father... i mean, our father is still alive. He is in his room sleeping and he never comes out nor wakes up" said Shanel

"You mean he is a coma?" Asked Sara

"Yes sister Sara. We got involved in an accident together. My legs became numb but he went into coma" said Eden and became sad.

"That's what happened? I never knew" said Shanel

"Hey kids you don't have to feel sad. Come on, lets forget about that now. What were you guys playing? Lets play together" said Sara and the kids cheered up quickly.

Sara played with the kids until she heard the doctors stepping out of Mr Mehta's room.

"Excuse me" said Sara and the doctors turned to her.

"Here are the keys. We'll be back tomorrow" said the head doctor.

"I wanted to ask something from you" said Sara

"After insulting us? Okay go ahead" said the doctor.

"I'm sorry for what i said earlier. Could you help me to treat my little friend?" Asked Sara

"Little friend? What's wrong with him?" Asked the doctor

"He got lame after an accident. Could check if he can walk again?" Asked Sara

"You are just a little maid. Do you have the money to pay for his check up?" Asked the doctor.

"Well, i don't have the money now but i will pay you in instalments after i receive my salary this month" said Sara and the doctors laughed .

"Are you trying to joke with our profession? Your salary is not even half way to what we want for the check up. Your friend needs to go to the hospital first and do the check up. We are not some silly doctors who will just accept payment in instalments. Do you know how much we earn everyday by doing this check up for Mr Mehta? Come on get out of our way" said the head doctor pushing Sara away.

"But this little boy is Mr Mehta's son. won't you treat him?" Asked Sara

The doctors turned and glared at her.

She got scared by the look and let them leave.

"Sister Sara, what are you doing?" Asked Eden as Sara got back in his room.

"Nothing Eden" she lied

"Sister Sara ain't you satisfied that I'm like this?" He asked

At that moment, Shanel had already taken lunch and was sleeping on his laps.

"What are you saying Eden? I like you for who you are. I don't care whether you are like this or not" she said

"Then why are you sad? Why are you getting humiliated by these doctors just to get me treated?" He asked

"I'm sorry Eden. I just wanted you to not feel less of yourself. I have this dream of seeing you jumping around in the garden with Shanel. Not that i despise your situation now. I would never do that. Please allow me to do this for you Eden" begged Sara

"But Sara you have doing enough for me already" said Eden

"Not yet. I want to see your eyes sparkle in happiness. I know you are happy but that sparkle is yet to come. I want to see it" said Sara and hugged him.

Sara went to the garden and was walking alone thinking about Eden.

She wasn't happy that day.

Her alarm rang and she rushed to prepare supper for the family.

The school girls arrived home and Stacy went direct to the kitchen.

"Hey you, i got maths assignment for you again. And another thing, make some fried chicken for me and hide it for me" said Stacy and went away but Sara was not in the mood to talk to her.

Tasha went to her room and then came back as Sara was heading to give Shanel a bath.

"Hey you! My friend is coming over tomorrow. When you see him, let him come to my room" said Tasha

"Him?" Asked Sara in shock

"Whats the problem?" Asked Tasha

"You want to let a him to your room in your parents house?" Asked Sara

"So? Look, i don't have time for you. His name is Clinton and he will be here tomorrow before lunch. When you make lunch, count him in" said Tasha and headed back to her room.

"This is unbelievable! How can a small girl like her bring a man home? I won't let that man in this house. Let him come!" Said Sara and went to Shanel's room.

She gave her a bath before supper time and soon the whole family was home except Abram.

"He is not home yet? I'll keep supper in his room. He must eat my food! Let him come" She said and went to have supper with Eden.
