Chapter 4 Medical Miracle

As the bodyguards scattered, the hospital director entered the ward. He wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and anxiously asked, "Miss Davis, are you alright? We have an operating room prepped for emergencies, just in case."

"No need, I feel much better now." Gemma touched her chest. Her usual cold demeanor was replaced with delight.

Before arriving, the hospital director had been briefed by the nursing staff.

He adjusted his glasses and advised, "I recommend we examine you, Miss Davis. We can't be sure of the extent of what that cripple did, or if your health has genuinely taken a turn for the better."

Though she felt rejuvenated, Gemma agreed to the director's request.

The test results shocked everyone. After a thorough examination, it was revealed that though Gemma was not completely cured, it was significantly better than before.

"Miss Davis, a medical miracle has occurred in your body!" the director exclaimed. "Could you introduce me to this remarkable doctor who treated you?"

Gemma's thoughts darted to Declan, and realization dawned on her.

"Oh no. Benjamin, get the guards to return immediately. We can't let them hurt Declan!" she anxiously ordered.

Benjamin nodded. Just as he was about to step out, Gemma stopped him.

"Wait. For such a great favor, it's only right I thank him in person. Benjamin, ready the car. I want to bring Declan back myself."

Meanwhile, Declan walked aimlessly on the streets.

The revelation that his cultivation methods and medical knowledge were merely figments of his imagination plunged him back into turmoil.

Declan meandered without purpose, consumed by despair.

He had no idea where to go.

He could not return to the Scott family's residence. Was he doomed to roam the streets forever?

Just then, a fleet of sleek black Audis cornered him.

Dozens of bodyguards in black leaped out and formed a human barrier around Declan.

"Declan, we advise you not to resist and come back to the hospital with us," the head bodyguard advised.

The hospital? Declan mused that it must be that lady again.

He could not help but chuckle self-deprecatingly. He had genuinely believed he could cure Gemma's illness and repay her kindness.

However, he had not expected her to be ungrateful and see his actions as a violation, rather than a genuine attempt to help.

Having nowhere else to go, Declan felt defeated.

"Fine, I'll come. But I have some matters to attend to before that. I need to make a stop at the Scott family's residence and inform Sebastian about my divorce with his granddaughter."

After saying these words, he began to move past the bodyguards, but they held their ground and even drew their knives with a threatening glare.

Fear clawed at Declan when he saw the bodyguards closing in on him with sharp knives.

But right at that moment, a familiar voice commanded, "Stop!"

Everyone turned in the direction of the voice and saw Benjamin and Gemma.

Upon seeing the latter, all the bodyguards lined up and chorused, "Miss Davis!"

"I'm so sorry, Mr. Harrison," Gemma said earnestly, regret evident in her eyes. "This was a grave oversight."

The lead guard, confused by the turn of events, retorted, "But Miss Davis, this cripple almost got you killed. We should kill him. Why are you apologizing instead?"

Gemma's face darkened. She cast a cold glance at the lead bodyguard and shot back, "How dare you instruct me?"

"I apologize, Miss Davis." The lead bodyguard shrank back and lowered his head.

"Everyone, apologize to Mr. Harrison now!" Gemma sternly ordered the entire team of bodyguards.

Without question, the bodyguards bowed down and said in unison, "We're sorry, Mr. Harrison!"

Meanwhile, Declan could not help but smile. It turned out that the knowledge he had acquired was real.

But then, his phone rang, interrupting the moment.

"Sorry, I need to take this call," he apologetically said. With that, he pulled out his phone and answered it.

Once the call connected, an all too familiar and haughty voice filled his ear.

"Where are you, you stupid shit? Get back here!"

"Don't worry. I'm heading back to see Sebastian," Declan replied with a sneer.

"See Grandfather?" Khloe scoffed. "You think too highly of yourself. Come to the law firm and file for a divorce. Don't keep Austin and me waiting. We want to register for marriage now!"
