Chapter 2 Inheritance

Declan was dreaming.

In his dream, an endless expanse of white stretched out before him.

As he looked around, an enchantingly beautiful woman appeared in front of him.

She radiated a warmth and familiarity that tugged at his heart.

She pulled him into embrace and whispered, "Son, life hasn't been kind to you."

"You're... Mom!" Declan exclaimed. As soon as he said these words, tears welled up in his eyes and cascaded down his cheeks.

After letting his tears flow for a moment, he looked up and asked, "Mom, where are you and Dad? I want to be with you."

"No, my dear. It's too dangerous!" His mother shook her head with a wistful smile.

She then gazed at Declan, her eyes filled with a mother's deep yearning for her child, and continued, "Circumstances forced us apart back then. But when you're finally ready, you can seek us out."

With a point of a finger, a golden orb flew into Declan.

"This is the Miracle Seed. With this, you won't be looked down upon ever again. And remember, we always think of you. Always..."

"Mom, what really happened back then?" Declan pressed, his desperation evident.

However, his mother did not answer, and her figure was starting to fade away.

Declan reached out to grab her hand, but his hands met only air.

This scene felt like a sharp knife had pierced through his heart, and it tore at his very soul.

Declan collapsed to the ground and cried in anguish, "Mom!"

The next moment, a flood of information washed over him.

Occult arts, medical knowledge, and cultivation techniques filled his mind.

When awoke, Declan found himself lying in a hospital bed.

Gemma Davis stood up and exclaimed, "You're awake!"

"You... Who are you?" Declan looked at the woman in front of him. He must admit, he was stunned by her beauty.

Gemma blinked. "I'm Gemma Davis. And you are?"

"I... I'm Declan. Declan Harrison," Declan replied groggily.

A middle-aged man dressed as a butler stared at Declan with a stern expression and asked, "Why were you crossing the road like that? Were you trying to stage an accident?"

Meanwhile, Declan fumed internally. They had hit him, yet he was acting so self-righteous.

Gemma lifted a hand, signaling Benjamin Cooper, the butler, to hold his tongue and apologetically said, "My driver was at fault. Let us know what you need to make this right."

The butler, Benjamin, huffed in annoyance. "There's not a scratch on him, Miss Davis. He's probably stronger than most! Why should he get anything? It's either he's trying to set up an accident, or he's trying to worm his way into your life! We should call the police and let the authorities handle him!"

Declan's patience began to wear thin because of the butler's accusations.

"I don't want any compensation," he quickly assured them.

But then, a nagging thought emerged within him. Wait a minute. Did the butler say he was not hurt? Declan remembered feeling his ribs shatter from the impact and the excruciating pain it brought. How was he suddenly okay? So what had happened in his dream was true?

With this thought in mind, Declan tested a technique from his recollection. He sensed the Miracle Seed's presence, its warm energy surging within him.

The marks from Austin's assault, once evident on his body, had vanished.

Even the cuts on his palms were now mere scabs.

However, his disability, a cruel gift from Khloe, on his right leg was still there.

It turned out that the cultivation technique was real. But what about the medical knowledge? Declan's mind raced.

Suddenly, an influx of seemingly new yet oddly familiar medical information flooded his mind.

There was now hope for his leg injury, which was deemed irreparable by modern medicine.

Once he attained the second level of Miracle, mending his meridians and healing his shattered leg would be within reach. He would not be crippled anymore!

At this moment, the Miracle Energy began to circulate within him.

The next second, the view from his right eye changed and cast the world in shades of gray.

Within this monochrome vision, a dark mass over Gemma's heart region stood out in stark contrast.

Declan wondered if it was because she was ill.

To confirm his suspicion, Declan, although hesitant, asked, "Miss Davis, do you have a heart condition?"

As soon as he said these words, Gemma's demeanor turned ice-cold.

"If you didn't get close to Miss Davis on purpose, then how do you know of her condition?" Benjamin lashed out.

Caught off guard, Declan struggled to find the right words.

Surely, he could not reveal he had inherited knowledge that allowed him to detect ailments just by looking, could he?

Who in their right mind would believe such an outrageous thing?

Seeing Declan's hesitation, Benjamin scoffed, "Clearly, you're up to no good. Leave."

However, at that moment, Gemma clutched her heart and collapsed, her face pallid and beaded with sweat.
