Chapter 7 You Win

In the hotel kitchen

Holding a glass of Lafite, Tristan looked and walked around, stopping from time to time. The cooks all watched him curiously, wondering why Lillian and Zane had brought such a young man to the kitchen.

Tristan didn't say a word the whole time. He only swirled the red wine in his glass while he silently checked out the kitchen. He also observed the countertops of the other cooks from time to time. All in all, he looked like he knew what he was doing.

"What a pretentious prick!" Kevin couldn't help but curse Tristan under his breath.

Just then, Zane whispered, "This guy doesn't look like an amateur. Is he a chef, too?"

Kevin shook his head firmly. "Impossible. He's a poor orphan who can't even afford food at school. This is his first time in such a high-end restaurant, I'm sure of it."

A disdainful smile tugged at the corners of Zane's lips. "Good. Here I was, thinking he was really something. I can't wait to see him fuck up."

After checking and confirming that all the ingredients and tools were ready, Tristan closed his eyes. The next second, the recipe for the perfect Beef Wellington appeared in his mind.

After a while, Tristan picked up a handful of hand-ground black pepper and sprinkled it on the countertop.

And the show began!

Chopping.

Juicing.

Pan frying.

Tristan worked on all the complicated procedures by himself, but his moves were smooth and orderly, like a painter working on an exquisite piece of art.

Even Lillian, who knew nothing about cooking, was awestruck.

She wouldn't have expected that someone as young as Tristan was a master at cooking.

The professional cooks in the kitchen all exclaimed in shock. Tristan's skill clearly was on par with that of a Michelin-starred chef!

Zane, who had been expectantly waiting to humiliate Tristan, frowned quietly.

Among all the onlookers, Kevin was the most shocked. Never in his wildest dreams would he have thought that Tristan, the school peasant, was a master chef.

Was this the same poor Tristan he knew?

Tristan himself didn't know what to expect. His cooking skills were only bronze level 1, yet the recipe was crystal clear in his mind, and he moved as though he had been doing this for years.

If he could get enough system points to upgrade his cooking skills even further, he might even surpass those internationally-acclaimed gourmet chefs!

After taking the beef out of the frying pan, Tristan plated it carefully and pushed the finished product in front of Zane and the others.

Tristan's Beef Wellington was breathtaking. Just looking at it made one's mouth water.

Under everyone's surprised gaze, Tristan gracefully picked up his glass of Lafite and took a sip indifferently. "Taste it, Chef Lopez."

For some reason, Zane felt uneasy and broke out in a cold sweat.

It was the first time that he had felt this way in all his years as a chef.

With trembling hands, he sliced a piece of the Beef Wellington and slowly put it into his mouth. The second the food touched his tongue, he collapsed to the ground weakly as though he had been struck by lightning.

"Tristan! What the hell did you put in there?" When Zane collapsed, Kevin shouted at Tristan angrily.

Tristan didn't answer. Instead, he looked at them calmly, as though nothing had happened.

"Uncle Zane, what's wrong? Did he poison you?" Kevin knelt down next to Zane, worry written all over his face.

But the next second, Zane sighed helplessly, "You win."
