Chapter 8 Aidan's Arrival!

Adeline threw herself onto the sofa in her room. She massaged her temples. Several times Adeline let out a long breath. Her emotions were ignited and provoked every time she met Hunter. In the past few months, Adeline could not help but be patient. The interior design project could not be finished in a few days.

"Mommy... Mommy..." Olivier ran into the room, approaching Adeline, who was sitting on the sofa.

"Baby?" Adeline's tiredness disappeared when she saw Olivier approaching her. The warm smile on Adeline's face was so sincere. "What's wrong, baby? I bought sushi for you earlier."

Before coming home, Adeline bought sushi for her son. She also asked Olivier's nanny to feed her little son.

"Mommy, don't you want to eat sushi? Let's eat together, Mommy," Olivier asked in an innocent voice.

"Olivier will eat first, baby. I'm not hungry yet," Adeline replied as she stroked Olivier's round cheek and gave him a peck.

"Miss Adeline?" A maid greeted as she stepped up to Adeline.

"Yes?" Adeline averted her eyes, staring at the maid in front of her.

"Miss ... there's Mr. Aidan in the front door," said the maid, which surprised Adeline.

"Mr. Aidan is here?" Adeline repeated to make sure. Adeline's pair of blue eyes clearly showed her surprise. Yes, Aidan Geovern-her eldest brother who lives in London-often visited her in New York. But Adeline didn't expect her brother to come. Because her brother did not give her any news that he was coming to New York.

The maid nodded her head. "That's right, ma'am. Mr. Aidan is here."

"Yahhh ... Uncle Aidan is here." Olivier immediately ran first out of the room to meet Aidan.

Adeline had a smile on her face. Every time Olivier had his uncle coming, his little son must be so happy. The next second, Adeline immediately caught up with Olivier, who had left first.

"Uncle Aidan, I miss you, Uncle." Olivier hugged Aidan's neck. The little boy was now in Aidan's arms. His chubby cheeks pressed against Aidan's.

"I missed you too, Boy. How's school?" Aidan asked as he kissed Olivier's round cheek.

"Uncle, just take it easy. I'm a good student at school," Olivier replied in a proud tone.

"Good... I'm proud of you, Boy." Aidan lightly pinched Olivier's tiny nose.

The smile on Adeline's face was painted to see the scene where her brother loved Olivier so much. For five years Adeline had been away from her family in New York. However, Adeline's brother and sister still visit her often in New York. Even the same as her mother, who did still visits her. The only one Adeline didn't dare to meet was her father.

Since Adeline refused to be set up, Adeline has never had contact with her father again. Of course, she missed her father very much, but Adeline realized that the past sins she had committed were difficult to forgive.

"Olivier... let's eat your sushi. Mommy will catch up with you later, baby," Adeline said with a smile on her face.

Olivier nodded obediently. "Yes, Mommy."

Aidan kissed Olivier's round cheek. Then he put his nephew down. And Olivier immediately walked away from Adeline and Aidan-who was in the living room. The little boy was now with his nanny.

"How are you, brother?" Adeline approached and hugged her brother tightly. Even Aidan returned Adeline's hug.

"Good... I'm good, how about you?" Aidan broke the hug and stroked Adeline's cheek.

"I'm good too, brother." Adeline invited Aidan to sit on the sofa close to them. Right when they sat down, the maid served them drinks.

"Why didn't you tell me you were in New York?" Adeline asked when the maid had left.

"I had a sudden meeting. So, I stopped by your penthouse," Aidan replied as he looked at his sister. "How's your company? Everything's fine, right?"

Adeline nodded her head. "Everything is fine, brother. Ah, yes. Did you come here with Sarah?"

"Sarah and the kids are coming tomorrow. They're not coming with me," Aidan informed her. "Adeline, I have something to tell you." Aidan continued, his tone sounding very serious.

"What is it?" Adeline asked as she looked at Aidan closely.

"The day after tomorrow there will be a banquet event. Some of our family will come and also our family business partners will come. I want you to attend. It's been five years since you showed up at our family's company dinner." Aidan said in a serious tone and asked his sister to obey.

Adeline was silent for a moment when she heard what Aidan said. Adeline had unknowingly relinquished all her responsibilities in her family's company. Thomas Geovern - Adeline's father was one of the most successful businessmen. During this time, Adeline did not receive a single penny of help. Be it from her mother, brother, or sister who wants to help her live. Adeline's goal was to prove to everyone that she was able to get up on her own two feet.

And Adeline didn't expect that she had come this far. Back then, Adeline thought she would never make it. But the truth was that she made it through the storms in her life.

"I... I don't think I can make it to the dinner our family is having," Adeline said in a quiet voice.

"Adeline ... how long will you avoid? You can't always avoid. Although you no longer bear the Geovern name, you are still part of Geovern. You must remain present, Adeline. I've let you live in New York; let you live your life. Now it's time for you to show everyone that you can stand on your own two feet. Don't keep hiding like this," Aidan insisted.

"W-What about Daddy? Daddy hates me. He'll be furious if I come," Adeline said softly. Her tears began to fall at the thought of her father no longer speaking to her.

Aidan brought his hand to wipe away her tears. "Daddy can't be angry. If he gets angry, let alone dare to kick you out of the party then I will intervene. Now all I want is for you to attend the party. All the businessmen are coming too. Dress up pretty. Show that you are a great woman. No one will look down on you or put you down. If I hear anyone putting my sister down; then I'll make sure that person disappears in my hands."

A smile crossed Adeline's face at Aidan's words. The woman was silent for a while. Thinking carefully about what decision would be the most appropriate. Until then, Adeline said, "Alright, brother. I will come. Thank you for always being by my side."

Aidan kissed Adeline's forehead. "I'm proud of you, Adeline. Very proud of you. Not everyone can be in your shoes. But you proved that you are a great woman."
