Chapter 2 She got pregnant!

Two months later...

Adeline threw up everything in her stomach. She had lost count of how many times she went back and forth to the bathroom. Her face looked pale. Sweat flooded her temples. Her head was heavy. Several times her body staggered almost falling. However, she immediately leaned her back against the bathroom wall to keep her balance.

She stared fixedly at a two-line tespack. Her eyes looked weak. She had taken a pregnancy test more than five times, and the results remained the same. Positive. There was a little baby in her womb.

Adeline's tears began to fall down her cheeks. What happened that night was that Hunter did not wear any safety. But She never thought she would carry Hunter's child.

Was it possible that the man would accept this child? Or did Hunter ask her to abort? She was on the verge of confusion mixed with devastation. She would never abort this pregnancy. Nor could she hide the pregnancy. Hunter had a right to know about her pregnancy.

"I have to see Hunter now. He has to know about my pregnancy."

Adeline wiped her tears as she was determined to tell Hunter. After all, he was the father of the baby in her womb. Even though she knew Hunter never wanted her, the blood that flowed into her fetus was Hunter's blood.

On the way, Adeline drove her car at an above-average speed. She wanted to arrive at Hunter's office as soon as possible. Until the moment Adeline's car entered a skyscraper in Manhattan; she immediately got out of the car and entered Bennett & Bennett Company. Hunter's firm was the largest law firm in America.

Adeline stepped into the company's lobby. She looked a little awkward as several people stared at her. There was fear in Adeline's heart if anyone recognized her.

However, when she stepped suddenly, she accidentally bumped into a woman, causing her cell phone to fall.

Adeline's face changed when she bumped into a woman. She hurriedly picked up the cell phone that had fallen on the floor and gave it to the owner.

"Miss, I'm sorry. I didn't do it on purpose. If your phone broken, I will replace it," she said in a tone that felt bad mixed with anxiety.

The woman gave Adeline an annoyed look. She took the cell phone Adeline gave her while saying coldly, "Next time use your eyes well!"

Adeline nodded and smiled. "I'm sorry again. I'll replace your phone if it does get damaged."

"No need. I'm not short of money," the woman snapped. Then she walked away from Adeline towards the elevator.

She seemed to take a deep breath when the woman she bumped earlier left her. Even though she intended to replace the damage to the woman's cellphone as a form of responsibility, she had no intention of demeaning the woman. However, apparently, her good intentions offended the woman she bumped into.

When she arrived at the floor where Hunter's office was, she let her eyes wander in search of Hunter's secretary. The floor was so large and spacious that it was a little difficult for her.

"Good morning, Miss. I'm sorry who are you?" the secretary politely asked Adeline.

"Ah, morning. I'm Adeline. I'm here to see Hunter. Is Hunter in the office?" Adeline asked with a friendly smile on her face.

"Miss, do you have an appointment with Mr. Hunter?" The secretary asked again.

Adeline was silent for a while. The look on her face began to change. Of course, she couldn't have made an appointment. Because if she contacted Hunter, then he would definitely ignore her calls.

"No, I haven't made an appointment yet. But I have something important to tell Hunter. Can you help me tell him that I want to see him?" Adeline said in a low, soft voice.

"Miss-" The secretary's words were cut off by the sound of the office door opening. Reflexively, she lowered her head when she saw Hunter step out. "Sir," she greeted politely.

Adeline's body froze as she watched Hunter walk out of the office with the woman she had bumped into in the lobby. Adeline's eyes began to show fragility as she saw the woman hugging Hunter's arm possessively. Without even having to ask, Adeline had already guessed the relationship the woman had with Hunter.

"You? Why are you here?" Hailey-Hunter's fiancée stared coldly at Adeline in front of her.

Adeline didn't move. She ignored Hailey's words as she looked deeply into Hunter's dark brown eyes. Even Hunter returned Adeline's gaze. Yes, for a few seconds, they gave each other an immersive gaze. A gaze as if implied full of meaning.

"Honey? Do you know her? Who is she?" Hailey asked in a tone of dislike mixed with jealousy as Hunter looked at the woman who had bumped into her earlier in the lobby.

"Nobody, just a stranger," Hunter replied coldly with an expressionless face.

Like being struck by lightning, Adeline's body almost collapsed when Hunter didn't admit to knowing her.

Adeline's eyes heated up. Tears were about to fall from her eyes. But she desperately held back her tears from spilling out. The man had broken her heart until there was nothing left.

"What Mr. Hunter Bennett said is true. We don't know each other. My purpose here was to use the services of his lawyer. But it looks like I have given up on my intentions. Sorry to bother you."

Adeline turned around and walked directly away from Hunter and Hailey, who was still standing in their place.

Just as Adeline turned her body around, her tears fell down her cheeks. She could no longer hold back her tears. But she did not let Hunter see her cry.

Hunter was still silent, watching Adeline, who began to move away from him. He seemed to feel something. But somehow, the man couldn't describe it.

"Honey, let's go. I have my wedding dress fitting today." Hailey pulled Hunter's arm, inviting him to leave.

Reflexively, Hunter broke his thoughts as Hailey tugged at his leg. In the next second, Hunter said nothing. He simply led Hailey away from his office. But deep down inside Hunter, he felt a little different.
