Chapter 5 You will never know about Oliver!

Adeline walked out of the meeting room with a look on her face that clearly showed she was holding back her annoyance. Martin and Lucas-the brothers who owned the land she wanted to buy-were trying to talk to Adeline. Unfortunately, Adeline ignored the siblings. She didn't want to make small talk. The unstoppable emotion in her seemed to burn and almost explode.

"You seem very angry, Adeline."

A heavy voice from behind made Adeline immediately turn her eyes to the source of the voice. Adeline was now in the car park of the office building owned by the landowner she had met earlier.

She wanted to go back to her office immediately. However, Adeline's steps had to stop seeing the figure of a demon-faced man in front of her. Adeline's pair of irises eyes looked coldly and fixedly at the demon.

"Why should I get angry just because I can't get the land I want? There are many excellent locations in New York. I can ask my assistant to find a new land. Congratulations on getting that land at such a fantastic price. I hope you don't suffer any losses, Mr. Bennett." Adeline replied with a calm voice that conveyed grace and firmness. Adeline's chest heated up. She desperately tried to control herself.

Hunter had a faint smile on his face when he heard Adeline's answer. Apparently, the woman before him had changed a lot. In terms of the way she spoke and her gaze was no longer the same. Even Hunter felt like he didn't recognize the woman in front of him.

"Well, apparently, you've changed a lot. I didn't expect you to be able to answer my question," Hunter replied with his gaze fixed on Adeline.

"I don't need your comments, Mr. Bennett," Adeline replied again in a calm voice.

Hunter shrugged his shoulders indifferently. "Alright, I have to go. I was hoping you could find some land to replace the one I bought."

Hunter smiled sarcastically. Then the man stepped into his expensive sports car. In the next second, he began to drive away, leaving Adeline still frozen in place.

Adeline's body almost collapsed when Hunter left. Her breathing was ragged. Her heart was weakening. Her eyes were heating up, and she was about to burst into tears.

Again. Adeline struggled not to cry. She didn't want to go back to being the weak and stupid woman she used to be.

"Miss Adeline?" Mary-Adeline's assistant, ran up to Adeline in a hurry when she had just gotten out of the elevator.

"Don't bother me, Mary. My head hurts." Adeline stepped into her office, ignoring Mary's presence. Reflexively, Mary immediately followed Adeline into her office.

"Miss, I have something important to tell you," Mary said quickly.

Adeline flung herself into her oversized chair and massaged her temples. Her head was about to burst. "What's wrong, Mary?" she asked irritably to the assistant who kept bothering her.

Mary scratched her head uncomfortably. She seemed hesitant to say anything. But she couldn't possibly delay speaking. Because if she delayed then, Adeline would be even more angry with her.

"Miss, while you were gone, I just got news from the marketing manager that we have a new project. There is a company that wants to hire our interior design services for their newly opened office building in New York. It's a big project, Miss. So, our marketing manager immediately agreed to take this project. We've already received about fifty percent of the upfront payment, Miss." Mary paused for a moment, her face growing increasingly frightened and stricken with great confusion. "But, Miss... hm..." Mary's tongue suddenly went numb. She couldn't put a word together.

"But what, Mary?" Adeline reprimanded, starting to get annoyed.

So far, Adeline has entrusted the decision to take interior design projects to her marketing manager. Of course, because the marketing manager had worked with her for a long time and understood the field of interior design.

Mary swallowed her saliva with difficulty. Then she said, "The company that hired our interior design services is Bennett & Bennett Company. The largest law firm in America, Miss. I also just checked that the lawyer who bought your land is Hunter Bennett, the owner of Bennett & Bennett Company. That famous lawyer opened a law office in New York, Miss."

Adeline froze when she heard Mary's words. She looked so shocked at Mary's words. Again, she had to get involved with Hunter Bennett. She wouldn't want to work with that damn demon!

"Reject this project! Return their money! I don't want to work with that lawyer!" Adeline exclaimed in a high tone.

"Miss, I must apologize in advance. But we can't reject this project. Especially since we've already received money from them. Isn't that not good, Miss? I mean... I just don't want Bennett & Bennett Company to say we're not professional in business. I know you must be angry that the land you bought is already owned by someone else. But, think of Watson Design Interior's good name. These days, your company has quite a name in the ranks of big business field. It will have a very bad impact if you cancel the project unilaterally, Miss." Mary said, giving Adeline advice.

Watson Design Interior was Adeline's company engaged in interior design services. One of Adeline's companies lately did have quite a name that was known by many large companies. The name Watson was taken from the surname of Adeline's mother. It had been five years since Adeline left the name 'Geovern', her father's surname name.

Adeline was forced to leave the name Geovern according to her father's request. Including all the luxuries given by her father. Adeline started from the bottom. She struggled to make it on her own. Although her mother and brother always wanted to help, Adeline refused. She stayed in New York because she wanted to prove that she could stand on her own two feet.

However, when Adeline had made peace with fate, the universe reunited her with the demon who had destroyed her life. A demon who threw her away like a piece of trash. What should she do now? Can Adeline continue to meet with the demon?

"Come out, Mary. Let me think about this," Adeline said coldly with an expressionless face.

"Yes, Miss." Mary immediately bowed her head, then excused herself from Adeline's office.

She leaned her back on the chair as she closed her tired eyes. Her mind was in turmoil. Her heart seemed to be torn apart. What Adeline was feeling at the moment was like a burn from the alcohol. It was so painful, but the wound would never be able to paralyze her.

"Mommy..." The voice of a boy with a face so handsome stepped into Adeline's office. Reflexively, she opened her eyes when she heard the voice that called her 'Mommy.'

"Oliver?" Adeline looked surprised to see her little son in her office.

"Mommy... I miss you, Mommy. I miss you so much." The little boy immediately hugged Adeline's body tightly. Melted. Adeline's anger disappeared when Oliver-her son-hugged her.

"Miss Adeline ... I'm sorry but Young Oliver insisted on coming here," said the nanny as she bowed her head to Adeline.

Adeline nodded briefly. "Come out, leave my son here with me."

The nanny bowed her head again, then excused herself from Adeline's office.

"Oliver, why are you here, son? Mommy's working, baby." Adeline smiled so softly. In an instant, Adeline's emotions disappeared after seeing her handsome son in front of her.

"I'm here because I miss you, Mommy. I don't want to play. I just want to hug you." Oliver tightened his embrace on Adeline.

Adeline had a smile on her face at her little son's words. All this time, Adeline's source of strength was Oliver. There was no one else. Her son was her life. Adeline could be as strong as she was now all because of Oliver.

"Sorry I've been busy lately, baby. I promise I'll spend more time with you," Adeline said softly and gently.

"It's okay, Mommy. I understand you're busy because you want to give me the best. I love you, Mommy." Oliver replied with his innocent voice.

"I love you more, baby." Adeline tightened Oliver's embrace. She gave the top of her little son's head an affectionate peck.

For a moment, Adeline was silent. In her mind, she thought back to her meeting with Hunter-the biological father of her beloved son. What would happen if Hunter found out about Oliver? No, he wouldn't. Adeline would never let that happen.

'Until death takes me, you will never know about Oliver, Hunter. Never,' Adeline thought with a look of hatred in her eyes.
