Chapter 4 Big Secret

"Son, it might interest you to know that the Smith family has a history of over five hundred years. Our first predecessor started with just one street stall. Over the years, our business empire grew and spread across the world. Actually, our family is the richest family with the longest history in the whole world," Rafael said proudly, smoking a cigar.

Garry swallowed hard.

Everything was so unreal. If he hadn't witnessed what happened here tonight, he wouldn't have believed his father's words.

He would have thought his father was out of his mind.

"Garry, I kept you in the dark all these years because I was afraid of you getting spoiled like many rich kids nowadays.

Now that you know this big secret, I want you to understand something.

Don't let wealth corrupt your mind. If you want to continue being rich and powerful forever, you have to keep a low profile but twice as hard as an average person.

Don't go about letting the whole world know that you are rich. Continue to be the good lad you have always been. But if anyone dares to bully you, don't let that person go. Make sure that person pays in a hundredfold."

Rafael snapped his fingers at one of his men. The armed man immediately took Kent over from Garry.

Rafael walked to his son and patted him on the shoulder.

"Son, tonight marks a new era in your life. You will take over the Smith Group in the future. You need to learn how to protect yourself."

Rafael was at ease now. Only about an hour ago, he almost had a heart attack when Garry said goodbye to him.

He couldn't afford to lose his precious son, so he made a call immediately. The hundreds of people under his command in this city took action. In a few minutes, Garry's location was tracked.

Rafael didn't know what he could have done if Garry died. But what he knew for sure was that none of the abductors would have lived to see another day.

After staring at his son's bloodied face, Rafael shot a searing glare at the gangsters who were bundled up together.

"Son, the ball is in your court. You can do whatever you want to these idiots," Rafael said to Garry.

"Really? What if I want to kill them all?"

Garry raised his eyebrows in surprise.

"Then go ahead," Rafael replied calmly.

He wanted to use these kidnappers as scapegoats to make Garry understand one important thing.

No one who dared to offend a member of the Smith family could ever go scot-free.

The kidnappers were already scared before now. When they heard Garry's conversation with his father, they were scared to death.

They couldn't help but cry like little boys.

"Don't kill us! We are sorry. Please forgive us!"

"Sir, we weren't in the right state of mind. Please spare our lives!"

"I have a wife and little children. They can't survive without me. I don't want to die."

"Help!"

The gangsters shook like leaves. Their eyes sparkled with inexplicable fear and regret as they begged profusely. Some even peed in their pants.

They all wanted to bow to Garry in repentance, but they couldn't because the armed men held them tightly.

"Well, something is bugging my mind." Garry walked up to Kent. He stepped on the man's head the same way his head was stepped on earlier.

"Before today, I was just a student who was strapped for cash. Why did you kidnap me and demand an outrageous ransom?" he inquired furiously.
