Chapter 10 Preferential Treatment

"I want to buy a house," Garry replied boldly.

"What did you say? You want to buy a house?" Caitlin widened her eyes. Was she wrong about this young man?

With confusion on her face, she looked at Garry from head to toe again.

The clothes he had on were worth nothing more than five hundred dollars in total. His sandals were also patched. He looked like a poor student.

Judging by his appearance, Caitlin reasoned that he was one of the students from the university nearby. He probably came here to carry out a marketing study for his schoolwork.

The thought of this annoyed her.

"Young man, for your information, all the houses we have are located in middle-grade and high-grade communities. The average price is about two million," she said impatiently.

"About two million?"

Garry was stunned by the price of the houses here. But it was no big deal since he had to spend ten million dollars.

"How much is the most expensive house you have?" he asked.

This question fuelled Caitlin's fury. She had disgust written all over her face. He couldn't even afford to buy good clothes, but he was making such an outrageous inquiry. The nerve of this guy!

He looked like he was here to make trouble, not buy a house.

Just as Caitlin was cursing out Garry in her mind, a middle-aged man in an Armani suit pushed the door open and walked in.

Caitlin's face lit up. She pushed Garry away and walked up to the man.

The man had a potbelly. There was a briefcase in his hand and his leather shoes shone as if they were polished a thousand times.

"Welcome, sir. What kind of house would you like to buy? I can put you through the process." Caitlin's voice suddenly became sweet. She grabbed the man's arm. "I'm the best saleswoman here. You can rest assured that I'll help you find a perfect place."

"That's good to know."

The well-dressed man suddenly licked his lips. He was drawn to Caitlin's fragrance and curvaceous body.

"Go ahead and find me the best house. It must be in a good location. And it must be big. Money is not a problem for me."

"Don't worry, sir. All our buildings are in high-end neighborhoods. We are here to cater to wealthy customers like you."

As Caitlin spoke, she cast a disdainful glance at Garry. "Someone who is overconfident came to pretend to be rich and wasted our time," she quipped.

"Trust me, I will definitely buy a big house."

The middle-aged man cast a disdainful glance at Garry and comforted the beauty beside him gently.

"Really?" The smile on Caitlin's face reached her eyes. She held the man's hand and said sweetly, "Don't lie to me, sir."

Standing on the sidelines, Garry didn't allow their mockery to get to him. He just went ahead and looked at the pictures of houses that were on the wall.

The most expensive property was an apartment worth five million, three hundred and twenty thousand dollars!

Garry sighed and murmured, "It's still too cheap!"

Although his voice wasn't loud, the people around him heard his statement.

Contempt was written all over Caitlin's face at this moment.

She reasoned that wonders would never cease. People were so strange nowadays.

Five million was a whole lot of money for rich people, let alone for poor students like Garry.

Caitlin said with a sneer, "Did you just mean that the most expensive house is too cheap? I guess playing Monopoly has made you delusional."

Garry's face turned red with rage. He had been trying so hard to ignore her mockery, but he couldn't take it anymore.

Garry waved at the manager.

"Sir, how may I help you?"

The manager walked over.

"I want to buy this apartment," Garry responded, pointing at the picture of the most expensive property for sale hung on the wall.

"Ermm... Are you sure, sir?"

The manager's eyes widened in shock.

"It costs five million three hundred and twenty thousand dollars," he added.

Garry nodded his head and uttered, "Yes, I will pay for it in full. But I have a request. That saleswoman..." He paused and pointed at Caitlin. "She has to apologize to me!"
