Sunny stopped in front of the door connecting the staircase area and the outside corridor, through the small transparent glass, she determined that it was relatively safe outside. When I lowered my eyes to the doorknob, I saw a fresh bloody handprint, someone must have accidentally left it when escaping or maybe that person didn't escape at all.
The little corpse just now was the affirmation of everything.
Sunny swiped the ID card into the identification, and the fixed latches on the door quickly popped open. Vincent was the first to step through the door, his steps calm and careful moving forward.
The electrical system in the building was damaged, causing the lights on the ceiling to flicker continuously. Under the flickering light of morning and evening, the group clung to each other and moved along the corridor.
He hadn't gone very far when Vincent heard a strange noise. The sound of heavy footsteps dragging on the floor, and the slow-moving speed of the undead made people feel impatient.
One of Vincent's subordinates was about to rush forward to defeat them but was stopped by Vincent. He reached out and grabbed his teammate's shoulder, preventing the man from doing foolish things.
"Step back, your gun doesn't even have a silencer." Vincent frowned at the person's carelessness.
He pushed the other back, pulling the baton from his belt. With a slight wave, the short one-arm-sized baton grew to more than a meter in length with ease.
Not sure what it's made of, but it looks solid. Vincent slowly moved to the back of the nearest undead, with a single punch with enough force and precision to knock it down.
He raised two fingers and lightly waved to everyone.
His comrades followed his example, simultaneously putting away their guns and pulling out their melee weapons. Sunny was enveloped in the middle of the formation, calmly watching the wandering undead being slowly defeated.
The mark left on the head is very deep, it can be said that a blow has destroyed their brains. If it wasn't for someone with very strong strength, it wouldn't have been able to cause such great damage.
Vincent led the team, tidying up the undead who stood in the way. Soon all the zombies in the corridor were cleared, fifteen in all.
Everything is done quietly and without attracting much attention.
Dawn approached a turn, entering the password into the control panel to lower the roller door made of special alloy, temporarily separating the hallway they were standing in from the rest. She did this to make sure that while they were moving, there weren't any zombies that suddenly appeared from behind to attack them.
Vincent's group's movements were quick, adapting to new situations faster than she thought. Even the way to deal with zombies is the same, all the weak points to attack, so they are all very clean.
Not even a single drop of blood could stick to his body.
This comment made Sunny feel suspicious.
The team's strength was not average, even without her information they would have been a little surprised when faced with the undead at best. Not going to die like what she knew in her previous life, so what caused these men to bury themselves at the 2nd research institute.
Sunny kept this thought to herself, patiently waiting for the door to finally close.
"It's okay, we're safe." The girl turned to Vincent and said.
The men keeping watch around her nodded slightly, as Sunny had warned, the thing they had to destroy was no longer a human. Although they were still uncomfortable in their hearts, they were forced to take action to destroy the undead.
If they don't die then they will be the ones to die!
After determining one last time that the area they were standing in was temporarily safe, Vincent once again pulled out a map of the research institute to examine. At this point they are still on the right track, not deviating from the original trajectory.
Thanks to Sunny, opening doors is easier than ever.
They continued to move south of the building, still meeting small groups of undead on the way, but they still easily passed. Every time they clean an area, Sunny immediately closes all the doors around to isolate that location, creating a zombie-free zone.
So that when they retreat there will be a safe way back.
Traveling for about an hour including time to kill the undead, they finally reached the central control area. This is the only place where there is an elevator that leads directly to the basement area below the research institute, which is also where Professor Tadhg's main laboratory is located.
For some reason, Sunny had a bad premonition, she pressed her hand against the hard door, hesitant to enter the password. Since there were no glass windows on the door, Sunny couldn't tell what was inside, but this was the first emergency door to be lowered that wasn't activated by her.
This type of door is to protect the central control room in the event of an external event, and can only be activated from the inside.
If she was a normal employee, she would be helpless, but she is Professor Tadhg's assistant, so she was privileged to know this confidential information.
"What's wrong, Sunny?" Vincent noticed her hesitation, he walked up to the girl and asked in a low voice.
Sunny shook her head, suppressing her emotions. She took off her gloves, placed her hand on the sensor, and pressed the door's password.
The security system's identification was successful, and the heavy door slowly opened before their eyes. And what awaited her inside, wasn't just a few sporadic zombies she'd met on the street.
The entire central control room was crammed with undead and corpses piled up.
Fortunately, the door Sunny had just opened led to the observation room located on the second floor of the central area, so they were safe for the time being. The girl hurriedly closed the door when everyone was inside. Even though she didn't see it with her own eyes, hearing the rapid breathing of the men next to her made her feel that they were scared.
Through the glass in the observation room, they could count the number of undead below. It seems that the number has exceeded one hundred making their faces pale.
"What do we do now?" One person asked.
Vincent put his hand on the glass, surveyed the situation below, then frowned slightly. Perhaps the control area is the last hiding place for the staff at the research institute, all the protective doors are closed separating the space inside from the zombies outside.
But they could not believe that doing so could not save their lives. It is possible that a few people turned into zombies during their shelter here and quickly turned the downtown area into a carnage party.
The result was as Vincent saw it, in the control room below which was filled with zombies. That is, no one survived the disaster. The number of the undead has exceeded the ability of the Vicente team to handle it, if acting carelessly, the whole team will be annihilated.
"Or I can just drop the grenades, and see them off by the way." One said excitedly, hands were preparing grenades.
Before Vincent could speak, Sunny quickly stopped the other: "No, there are electronic control devices underneath. You blew them up, how can we use the elevator to the basement?"
The man was really angry, he glared at Sunny: "This can't work, it won't work that way. Miss Walton, tell me, who created this dilemma?"
He was referring to the zombies they had been facing up until now. Sunny was stunned for a moment, perhaps because she gave so much information about them that he thought she was also one of the people who directly researched zombies.
"What are you saying? Without Sunny, would you still be standing here comfortably like this?" Another shouted
They couldn't deny it, it was all thanks to her help that they were able to smoothly enter the research institute. Sunny could completely ignore everything and get on the plane back to King's Landing.
But Sunny chose to stay.
"If I told you, I just found out about their existence, would you believe it?" Sunny smiled sadly.
Her voice was very sincere, not at all like she was lying to silence the other person. He's not the type to blame others, he's just admiring the horrors of the undead.
His frankness made him open his mouth to speak in an unsophisticated way. Seeing Sunny's moody face, he immediately scratched his head in confusion, clumsily saying: "Belief, believe. Don't pay attention to what I say. You don't either. sad..."
Before the man could finish his sentence, Vincent interrupted: "I have a way, everyone, stop arguing."
It turned out that Vincent's silence until now was to observe the entire control area, when he saw the layout of the ventilation system, a bold thought came to his mind.
