Sunny pushed Vincent aside to make room for her to rush forward, and as soon as she heard this voice, she immediately recognized who its owner was. The teacher who guided her during her years of studying at the lecture hall and now is the direct superior to guide her on the scientific path, Professor Tadhg.
When they entered the main research room, everyone was panicking and scared. No one noticed that behind the large lab table in the middle of the room stood a man.
Professor Tadhg was still wearing his usual blouse, but it was no longer smooth as usual, but covered in blood. His hair was also disheveled, and his face was pale and lifeless.
"Teacher! Why is this? Are you okay?" Sunny panicked seeing Professor Tadhg's condition.
He raised his head to look at her once, joy sparkling in his tired eyes, but he resolutely backed away, not letting Sunny touch him.
"Don't touch me, stay away."
After saying that, Professor Tadhg's gaze moved to his right wrist. That place was being locked by a silver handcuff to the base of the lab table. More frightening is that below the exposed wrist is a deep bite that is still bleeding.
"Teacher..." Sunny's voice trembled, her eyes wide with terror.
Mr. Tadhg was bitten by a zombie, so he locked himself on the table leg in case he changed. He did not want to transform himself into a hideous monster that had lost its soul and then turned to bite his fellow humans.
"Sunny, we don't have much time, you have to listen carefully to what I'm about to say." Professor Tadhg sighed sadly.
Sunny couldn't do anything more than try to stabilize her mood and listen to what her teacher told her. Though she desperately wanted to save him from imminent death, Sunny was also the only one right now who understood that it was completely impossible.
Her healing power has not been awakened, because Sunny has not met Diggory like in her previous life, leaving her not knowing how she will unleash her power if she changes the future. Now, Professor Tadhg has not completed the research formula to inhibit the zombie virus.
When he was bitten by a zombie, he probably immediately injected an experimental version of the inhibitor into his body. But no matter what the outcome is, everyone knows, that the red streaks of blood starting to spread from the wound are the clearest proof that the drug is not working.
Professor Tadhg will sooner or later turn into a zombie.
Following Professor Tadhg's instructions, Sunny quickly found a secret drawer to the right of the lab table. The password of the main door is the wedding anniversary of Mr. Tadhg and his late wife.
When the door swung open, revealing a small suitcase made of special alloy. Sunny hastily brought it in front of Mr. Tadhg, lowering himself so that he could see clearly.
"Do you want me to take this?" Sunny asked.
Professor Tadhg nodded weakly, his voice had begun to fade: "The password to the suitcase is your date of birth. It contains all of my research work plus ten tubes of test serum. It's not. When it's urgent, you're not allowed to use them. Remember that, Sunny?"
Sunny nodded quickly, she was helpless when the veins of blood had spread to Mr. Tadhg's neck area. In just a few minutes, the transformation would be complete and her teacher would become a zombie.
Tears just dried and quietly fell, she silently looked at Mr. Tadhg with sad eyes: "Teacher, come with us, we will find a way..."
Professor Tadhg shook his head, he smiled sadly. Seeing Sunny looking miserable like that, he wanted to reach out and pull her into his arms to comfort her.
To Professor Tadhg, Sunny's existence was like her own daughter. He loved her like a true father!
"Sunny, you're such a smart girl, you must know that I'm no longer able to live. The last thing I want you to do is to get out of here safely with that suitcase. Use what you can. I have taught, correcting the mistakes that I have made."
Sunny hugged the suitcase tightly in her lap, trying to wipe away her tears, and nodded in agreement.
Professor Tadhg breathed a sigh of relief, his gaze shifting to Vincent standing behind her. Vincent saw Mr. Tadhg looking at him and hurried forward, introducing himself.
"I'm Vincent, the head of the rescue team ordered by headquarters to come here to take you away. But your current situation..."
He struggled to suppress his cough, trying to keep himself awake: "I know, don't take me away. Please protect Sunny well, she is the hope of mankind in the future."
His little student was so stupid, just because the girl was worried about him, she followed the rescue team back to this place. When he heard her voice echo in the room, Tadhg was half happy and half worried.
Glad to be able to see Sunny again before he dies, afraid that she will be in danger and die at the research institute.
"I see you have a gun, so give me a peaceful death." Professor Tadhg's voice was extremely gentle.
However, the expression on Sunny's face was very surprised, she looked up at Vincent who was also surprised. I didn't expect Professor Tadhg to make such a request!
Sunny blocked in front of Vincent and Professor Tadhg, arms outstretched to protect her teacher. She kept shaking her head, not letting Vincent get close to Mr. Tadhg.
"It can't be, teacher, it can't be. And don't come here, I won't allow you to harm my teacher." Sunny almost had to scream to release her fear.
Her purpose for coming here in the first place was to save Professor Tadhg, but all her plans were ruined when she met the teacher in bad condition. She hasn't awakened her ability yet, so she can't cure him, and the experimental drugs to suppress it have failed.
All the initial hopes that were full of hope vanished like soap bubbles.
But the teachers still want to die in front of her, how can Sunny withstand this shock?
"Sunny!" Professor Tadhg gently called out to her.
And this time, despite everything to rush towards her teacher, Sunny clutched Professor Tadhg's untied hand and sobbed.
"It can't be, teacher, it can't be." Sunny kept shaking her head.
Mr. Tadhg withdrew his hand from Sunny's small arms, lifting the young girl's chin so that she was facing him. He smiled gently, comforting the girl who was suffering.
"My sun, don't be like that!"
