Chapter 4 Difficult New Boss

Nicole caught the playfulness in his words.

Nicole gritted her teeth. She took a second to calm down and put back on a confident and professional smile, "Mr. Graham, it was a great pleasure to meet you. I didn't expect our meeting to be so early. I'm sorry for the little mishap and my offensive manner just now. I could prove with my abilities that I will be worth the salary you pay me. I also believe that Mr. Graham must be a wise person who will separate first impressions of people from their ability to do their job."

'A very sophomoric little woman.' Kerr thought and curved the corners of his lips.

"Okay, Ms. Morgan. I'm very much looking forward to our collaboration and your future performance."

Upon finished, Kerr strode into the company without looking back. Nicole stared at his back for a moment, and then, carefully stepped on the glass floor and walked in too.

She didn't know why, but the moment she saw Kerr, her heart started to beat faster. There was a strange but familiar feeling inside of her. But, since she was a senior corporate executive in the company, she had a very busy schedule. Nicole was soon overwhelmed with all kinds of reports and documents. There wasn't any time for her to think deeply about that.

For the next few days, Nicole did not see Kerr again. In fact, Nicole was truly a smart person at work with rich knowledge and effective methods. It didn't take much time for her to get to know all the department thoroughly, and she also interviewed all the business people of this department one by one to deeply understand their work.

After a few rounds of meetings, she regraded the employees of the department based on th abilities and achievements and even fired two. Soon, the entire Graham Group knew that the beautiful new director of the Marketing Department who looked like a silly blond, was actually a tough act to follow.

Luck also favored Nicole. She had just established her authority within the department when a big business deal was delivered to her hand. Nicole facilitated the cooperation perfectly and won the respect of everyone.

On the last day of this month, the president, Kerr Graham, who had not been seen for almost two weeks, appeared. The job Nicole had completed was so successful that Kerr chartered an entire hotel to give Nicole a celebration party, which also served as a welcome party to officially intruduce her to the whole company.

The party was beautifully decorated and grand, and everyone was saying flattering marks to Nicole, and she also responded properly and politely.

The scene in front of her reminded Nicole of some old things.. When her father was still alive, as the eldest daughter of the Morgan family, her father often brought Nicole to all kinds of parties. At that time, she had to deal with many people like this, facing their praise or testing. But at that time, she felt very safe with her father, whom she trusted most, by her side. But now there' s only an indifferent Kerr.

Since she entered the Graham Group, Baron and her colleagues have been sending her a steady stream of gossip about Kerr, her big boss. He's rich and handsome, also a newcomer to the field of finance and fashion. As the most successful young businessman, he had a big influence over not only the government but also some underground power. But the most daunting is actually his temper and personality. He never had dramatic emotions or showed his mood visually, no one could read his real thoughts. It's not surprising that people like him make others feel in awe.

Suddenly, the light darkened. The band began to play a piece of slow and romance music. In the gentle and soft melody, the crowd in the hall began to dance in pairs, holding each other's hand and waist.

The atmosphere became a little subtle at once. Everyone went to dance, leaving only Nicole and kerr standing in the same place.

Nicole glanced at Kerr from the corner of her eyes secretly. Obviously, he didn't have the tend to have a dance with her.

'Well, that's exactly what I want.' Nicole thought. Nicole was very optimistic. Anyway, she did not want any connection with Kerr except at work. As long as she could do her work well, she didn't really care about what Kerr would think about her.

Nicole had a sudden thought to make a joke on the serious Kerr whose face always seemed to be sealed with a glacier.

"May I?" Nicole wore a mischievous smile and said to Kerr in a teasing tone while striking a gentleman's invitation gesture.

She concluded that with Kerr's character and style of acting, he would definitely reject her. In this way, she could have just the right excuse to leave Kerr's side. Staying around him for a long time was really stressful.

But out of her expectation, Kerr stared at her with his deep-sea-like eyes for several seconds, then held her hand and even gently pulled her waist towards him in a very natural movement. In the music, stepping on the beat, he led her to the center of the dance floor.

Nicole tried very hard to suppress her shock and behaved elegantly and gorgeously. But when she fell into Kerr's hold again, the familiar feeling came back. Nicole had a moment of disorientation.
