Chapter 3 The Reunion After Seven Years

At Baron's words, Nicole had a moment of silence, as if she was seriously thinking about his question.

She was barely 18 years old when she left for Manhattan seven years ago. Living alone, Nicole was in low spirits. And then, her whole life took a turn, Jay was brought into her life. Although she did not know the man she spent the night with, she took the child as the most precious gift of all.

The life of a single mother is not easy. Luckily, Baron did help her a lot then.

"Why I'm back now... Hmm, for getting Jay a fater?" Nicole winked to Baron and giggleed a smile, "Kiding. I just thought that bringing Jay here he might be able to make more local friends, and also, the job opportunity that the Graham Group offered me was really good. I want have a try."

In fact Nicole did think about whether to help Jay find his father, but not everyone can accept a son who appears out of nowhere. No to mention she could hardly remember what he looked like, she could only be sure that he was a handsome man.

"Don't be upset, silly mother. I know it's good to have a father. But either way, it doesn't matter that much if I don't have one!" The understanding little guy seemed to have read her mind.

"What, I be your father, you be my son, haven't it always been great, dude?" Seeing Jay's disdainful eyes-rolling, he then turned to Nicole, "What do you think, Nicole?" Actually, Baron wanted to confence it to Nicole long ago. He just... He hated himself for his cowardice.

Nicole just shook her head helplessly and sighed, "Dear Noble Mr. Moreno, it's about time you could get yourself a girlfriend. I'm really tired of playing this substitute role."

He knew that she had never had this vision of the relationship between them. He changed the topic, "If you want a good job, why not go straight to my company? The Moreno Group is nothing worse than the Graham Group. Besides, don't you know what a terrible person Kerr Graham is?" he remarked, half serious and half teasing.

"Of course to get you a place to find a girlfriend! They all think Jay is your son." Nicole teased back. Then she thought of something, "You've already do me a big favor. How about the school arrangements for Jay?"

"That's not a big deal at all. Once they hear that Jay is a kid of genius who has won so many trophies, all schools are eager to have him. Report tomorrow at the Top one school in this city." Baron said with some pride just like talking about his own son.

"Mom, you'd better worry about yourself rather than me. Tomorrow is also your first day to work. I don't want to starve to death because you got fired." Little Jay said as he struggled to carry their luggage upstairs.

Seeing mom and Baron start excitedly discussing what to eat for their first meal back home, and didn't notice at all about coming to give a him a hand, Jay sighed in his heart, 'Who's the adult of this family?'

The next day morning. After breakfast, Baron drove Jay to the school. The process of reporting might take some time, so Nicole took a taxi to the Graham Group.

Upon arriving, Nicole couldn't help but think that the president of this company truly had a good taste. The whole floor was made out of glass, making it look so neat yet elegant. There was only one problem...

How could walk on this!? It just looks so slippry!'

Nicole looked at her 8 cm high heels helplessly. She secretly admired those women in front of her who were walking over the floor as fast as flying. She gritted her teeth and took a determined step forward.

Just as she made her first step carefully, a handbag of a lady in a hurry to work gently brushed against her arm. She lost her balance immediately and about falling to the slick floor.

Nicole even closed her eyes, 'No! Such a shamefull thing really had to happen to me on my first day of work!?'

Nicole tightly closed her eyes. She had even figured out how to get up from the ground to be as elegant as possible right in this 0.01 seconds. However, this fall, for which she had been prepared, did not come.

A pair of powerful arms held onto her.

Peering open her eyes slightly, Nicole saw a gentleman in neatly tailored suits holding her by her waist. Nicole was about to say thank you, but her words stalled. She felt that the feeling of be embraced by this man was somehow familiar...

The man was robust and tall. Nicole lifted her head and began to take a good look at the man's face. It was like he was perfect sculpture carved by an adept craftsman. As she tried to think about where she had saw this man before, the man let go of her without a second thought. He saw the way she was staring at his face, and raised an eyebrow at her.

"Enjoying staring at me?"

Shit! What am I doing!' Nicole cursed in her heart. Standing straight up, she straightened out her clothes and put on an elegant smile.

"Oh sorry, Sir. By the way, thank you." She was polite and also condescending at the same time.

Kerr had just let go of this woman he had just helped. When she was staring at him, he thought she was no different from the other women who'd fawned over him. Immediately afterwards, he saw the woman quickly return to her proud demeanour. Kerr chuckled softly, 'Huh... This woman was... interesting.'

Squinting his eyes, Kerr suddenly had a feeling that he had seen this woman before. Seeing Nicole was in a formal attire, with a frown, he turned to his assistant.

"Is she one of our staff?" he asked in a low voice.

"Mr. Graham, this is Ms. Nicole Morgan who just graduated with a PhD from Manhattan University last month and also hired as our new CMO (Chief Marketing Officer). Today is her first day in our company." Then the assistant turned to Nicolas and gave a polite nod and said, "Good morning, Ms. Morgan. This is the president of our company, Mr. Kerr Graham."

The assistant's words obviously surprised both of them. Kerr just raised his eyebrows slightly, and Nicole almost opened her mouth in shock.

'No way! It was my first day at work and I got embarrassed like this in front of the legendary Kerr Graham!?' Nicole just wanted to bury herself in a hole in the ground at that moment.

Thinking of what her son said to her, she was so sad that she almost cried out. 'Jay, it seemed that mom could not keep this job for more than just one minute!'

Kerr looked at Nicole up and down with a mocking expression.

"The new CMO?" There was a hint of disdain and doubt in his tone.
