Chapter 8 My Wife

Anne grabbed Minnie's suitcase and pretended to be angry. "Why? Just stay here."

With an exaggerated expression, Minnie said, "I don't want to stay here and watch you being punished by George. How can I bear to see it?"

Anne thought for a while and said, "Then you can just close your eyes."

Minnie couldn't believe her ears. She wailed, "Anne! Please spare me."

Anne was about to teach Minnie a lesson, but George went downstairs. He was carrying an exquisite gift bag in his hand.

Anne and Minnie lowered their eyes and kept quiet.

George walked over to Anne and handed her the gift bag. Without even looking at her, he said in a low voice, "Take it. Go with me to the party."

Anne felt uneasy. Holding the bag in her hand, she lowered her eyes and stared at the tips of her shoes, wanting to refuse. "But Minnie..."

Minnie had never felt a sense of crisis when someone mentioned her name before. If George weren't here, she would take off her socks and put them in Anne's mouth to hush her up.

She shouted inwardly, 'Damn it! Will you please spare me? I have never been in love all my life.'

Before Anne could finish her words, George interrupted her,

"We will take her with us." He then strode towards the door, leaving Anne and Minnie behind.

"What do we do now?" Anne asked in a trembling voice as she looked at Minnie, who was stunned.

"Do you dare to defy him?" Minnie asked back, giving her a disdainful look.

"No," Anne replied helplessly.

"Then hurry up and follow him. If you don't want to die, behave yourself. Don't you know that?" Minnie pinched Anne hard, put down the suitcase, and pulled Anne out.

The two of them trotted all the way because George was already waiting in the car. When Anne got in the back seat to sit with Minnie, Minnie pinched her waist again. Anne couldn't help thinking angrily, 'Such a bad girl! She doesn't care about me at all, and even pinch me so hard.'

With a frown, Anne got out of the back seat and opened the door of the passenger seat. She then got in the car reluctantly.

George took them to a manor in the suburbs. The scenery was so beautiful. When the lights were turned on, the place looked gorgeous.

After getting out of the car, Anne became smarter and took the initiative to hold onto George's arm.

Minnie had to minimize her sense of existence and followed them silently.

George didn't say anything as he took Anne all the way to the private room they had booked. As soon as he opened the door, party poppers burst out, and small strips of confetti rained down on them.

"Surprise!" a man shouted. But his face froze upon seeing George.

"Mr. Liang, I'm so sorry. I thought it was Jimmie." he apologized awkwardly.

George nodded lightly and said coldly, "It's all right. Hasn't Jimmie arrived yet?"

"I'm here." As soon as George asked, a pleasant voice rang out from behind.

When Anne turned around, she was stunned. With a confused look, she thought, 'Isn't he the one who helped me in J Grand Hotel? I got a slap in the face because of him!'

Jimmie was also surprised when he saw her. His eyes fell on her hand that was holding George's arm. After a while, he asked, "George, who is she?"

"Anne, my wife," George replied. He then glanced at Minnie and added, "My wife's cousin, Minnie."

"Nice to meet you, Anne and Minnie." A meaningful smile flashed across Jimmie's handsome face.

"Hello, Mr. Feng. I'm an intern in your company." Minnie was so overjoyed that she smiled endearingly.

"Really? What a coincidence! Which department?" Jimmie's attitude was so friendly now. It was totally different from his cold demeanor in J Grand Hotel. If he wasn't wearing the same clothes, Anne would have thought that he had a twin brother.

"PR department." Minnie had loved Jimmie at a distance for a long time. He was also the reason why she refused the blind date arranged by her parents. She even had a fight with them, and she ended up running away from home. She didn't expect that she would see him here tonight. It was such a pleasant surprise.

"Happy birthday, Jimmie. This is for you," George said as he took the bag from Anne and handed it to Jimmie.

"Thank you, George." George and Jimmie were cousins. Although George was an illegitimate son, he had taken over the company of the Liang family. Jimmie was wary of him and always polite in front of him. He was afraid that if he offended George, the Feng family would have the same fate as his aunt.

Anne and Minnie sat down next to George on the sofa. But they noticed that everyone else in the room seemed to be scared of George. They didn't even dare to talk to Anne.

Anne got so bored, so she excused herself to go to the restroom.

On her way to the restroom, she was playing with her phone and bumped into someone.

Rubbing her forehead, she said in a low voice, "Sorry. I'm so sorry."

But the woman just laughed sinisterly and said in a strange tone, "My hard work was not in vain. It finally paid off."

The woman's voice sent a chill down Anne's spine. When she looked up, she was stunned to recognize the woman in front of her. 'Damn it. Isn't she the woman who slapped me in J Grand Hotel?'

Her expression changed as she took two steps back vigilantly. "What do you want to do?"

Tina sneered, grabbed the collar of Anne's dress, and said grimly, "Didn't you say that you don't know Jimmie? He booked the whole floor for his birthday party tonight. Why are you here? Tell me!"

Anne felt helpless. She didn't know how to explain the situation. She swallowed nervously and tried to explain with difficulty, "I really don't know him. I'm here not because I know him, okay? I'm here with my husband."

At this moment, Tina didn't listen to anything that Anne said. She couldn't accept any reason why Jimmie abandoned her except that he had found someone else.

So she said coldly, "Since you already have a husband, why are you still hooking up with Jimmie? How shameless you are! Shame on you!"

Anne was not in the mood to argue with Tina. "Sorry. I don't want to talk about this nonsense with you."

She then turned around and was about to leave. However, Tina, who seemed to have gone crazy, was unwilling to let her go. Flushed with rage, Tina grabbed her dress, pushed her into the restroom, and kicked the door close.

Anne panicked at once. She asked anxiously, "What are you doing? You're a crazy woman! Help! Help! Someone help me!"
