Chapter 3 What's Your Relationship With Mr. Liang

"I asked you to bring the draft of Mr. Liang's speech here. What took you so long? Are you a snail or something?" A sharp voice sounded at the entrance of the hotel where people came and went.

J Grand Hotel was the best hotel in A City. And the charity gala that was organized by the mayor was in full swing.

"I'm sorry, Liza. I got stuck in the traffic jam," Anne apologized while wiping the sweat on her forehead.

"Traffic jam? That's not an excuse for your poor performance," Liza sneered. She snorted and looked at Anne with disdain. 'She is good for nothing.'

"I'm so sorry. I promise that this won't happen again." Anne looked so calm. She seemed not to care about the gazes of the passersby.

Liza wanted to scold her more, but a Maybach pulled over in front of them, and the door opened. A handsome and cold man got out of the car. He had straight and long legs and delicate features.

He glanced at Anne, who was standing there with her head down, and asked coldly, "What's wrong?"

Liza's expression softened, and she said in a low voice, "It's nothing, Mr. Liang. It's just that Anne was so negligent that she forgot to give me the draft of the speech you need later. And she was almost late."

Anne remained silent but sneered in her heart, 'Humph! This is his fault. He didn't wake me up this afternoon.'

After a while, she said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Liang." Although Anne was unwilling, she had to bite the bullet and apologize to George under Liza's stern gaze.

"Mr. Liang doesn't have time to care about people like you. Just do your job and be smarter next time," Liza chimed in. She then gave Ann a warning glance, looked at her watch, and added, "The opening ceremony will begin in five minutes. Let's go in, Mr. Liang."

However, George didn't move.

His eyes were fixed on Anne's cold face. He then asked in a low voice, "What's wrong? Is our company treating you poorly?"

The hotness of his gaze made Anne feel uncomfortable. She raised her head and answered, "No, no."

George's eyes darkened. With a hint of dissatisfaction, his voice slightly raised when he said, "Then why do you dress like that? Even I feel ashamed."

Anne looked down at her floral dress, wondering what was wrong with it. She was just an assistant with a monthly salary of six thousand dollars. What kind of clothes did he want her to wear? She wanted to say, 'It's none of your business.'

However, she didn't want to stir up trouble. As long as he didn't push her too hard, she wouldn't fight back. She looked at George and answered, "Got it, Mr. Liang."

But George wasn't done yet. He stepped forward and approached Anne. The noble and cold aura surrounding him forced her to step back involuntarily.

"Since you know, why don't you go and get changed?" he demanded.

"What? But where am I going to change?" Anne raised her head again and looked at George in a daze.

"Liza, take her to a shop nearby to change her clothes," George turned to Liza and ordered coldly.

"But Mr. Liang, the party is about to begin," Liza reminded George. She looked at Anne suspiciously and then at him cautiously.

George lowered his head and checked the time on his watch. "I'll go in first." After saying that, he turned around and walked towards the hall alone.

"What are you standing there for? Go and get changed!" Liza shouted at Anne while adjusting the frame of her eyeglasses on the bridge of her nose. Her fat face looked so fierce.

Anne didn't want to talk to an old woman who had a bad temper, so she just followed Liza silently.

Liza's attitude was stinky and fierce, but she had a good fashion sense. She randomly picked three dresses for Anne to try on. Anne seemed to have changed into a different person in an instant. She was so beautiful.

"We'll get this one. Don't take it off. Miss, please remove the tag," Liza ordered the saleslady with a straight face.

"Okay. This one costs seven thousand six hundred dollars after the discount," the saleslady said to Liza with a smile.

Liza turned to look at Anne, who was now wearing a blue dress, and said coldly, "Why are you still standing there for? Pay the bill."

Anne was utterly shocked. 'My God! Seven thousand six hundred dollars?' she exclaimed in her mind. Even her one month salary plus bonus was not enough to pay for it.

"This is too expensive. Can we look for something cheaper?" Anne gave Liza a sad look. She felt sorry for her purse.

"You're already wearing it, and the tag has been removed. How can we not buy this? Be quick! Mr. Liang is waiting for us," Liza snapped impatiently. She then turned around and walked out of the shop.

Anne was left alone with the saleslady, feeling aggrieved. 'Damn it!' she cursed inwardly. She had no other choice but to pay the bill sadly and followed Liza outside.

When they entered the hall, the mayor was already giving his speech on the stage. The audience was applauding loudly, and no one noticed them.

Anne followed Liza to the seat next to George. He looked at her, and his eyes stopped at her slightly low-cut neckline. He then said in a low voice, "Sit next to me."

Liza, who was about to sit next to George, felt embarrassed. She looked daggers at Anne.

With a stiff face, Anne felt so uneasy. It was like she was sitting on pins and needles. She couldn't hear what the mayor was saying on the stage anymore.

George was the representative of the businessmen. So after the mayor was done, he went up the stage to give his speech as well. While watching him, Anne breathed a sigh of relief.

"When did you hook up with Mr. Liang?" Liza asked in a low voice, looking suspicious.

Anne's body stiffened for a moment, and her face turned pale. She stammered, "What? Liza, what did you just say?"

Liza glanced at her disgustingly. "I'm asking you, what is your relationship with Mr. Liang?"

Anne shook her head and answered frankly, "Nothing. I don't have any relationship with him."

Liza was about to say something more. But when she saw that George was about to step down from the stage, she glanced at Anne in disbelief and didn't say anything more.

Anne really didn't want to sit next to George. The feeling of being stared at by him scared her so much that she grabbed her handbag before he could go back to his seat. She then said to Liza, "I'll just go to the restroom. Please call me if you need anything."

Anne somehow felt relieved when she entered the restroom. She was washing her face when she heard a gentle and soft voice from behind.

"Hello! Are you from C Group?"

Anne pulled out some pieces of tissue from the dispenser on the wall and wiped her face. When she turned around, she saw a beautiful woman with elegant makeup and a gentle smile standing behind her.

"Yes. What's up?" Anne's attitude was a little alienated, and her tone was cold.

"Well, here is the thing. Do you know George Liang, the CEO of your company?" Queenie Liu was shy as she asked the question.
