Chapter 5 What Did She Give You

Looking stern, George walked straight to the car and said, "Let's go home."

Anne looked around to make sure that Liza wasn't there to see them before she quickly got into his car.

George drove back to the villa at a fast speed. He then got out of the car silently without even looking back at her. Anne didn't dare to make a fuss. She just followed him into the house in dejection.

"I haven't had dinner yet. Go cook something for me," George ordered. He then took off his coat and sat on the sofa.

Anne rolled her eyes secretly. She couldn't help cursing inwardly, 'Damn it! I haven't eaten dinner either. Why didn't we get something to eat before coming back home?' And now he wanted her to cook for him. As far as she could remember, cooking for him was not part of the contract she had signed.

For Anne, cooking was a troublesome task. She had to wash and cut vegetables. Then after eating, she had to wash the pot and the dishes and clean the kitchen.

She wanted to refuse. Anne raised her eyes, looked at his cold face, and cautiously suggested, "Mr. Liang, I'm actually not really good at cooking. How about we order some takeout? I know a take-out restaurant that serves very delicious food. I..."

Her voice trailed off when she saw the cold look in his eyes. He didn't say anything, but the way he looked at her made her heart skip a beat.

"All right. I'll cook. Yeah, take-out food is not very wholesome. I'll cook for you now," Anne quickly took back her words and ran to the kitchen as fast as she could.

But deep in her heart, she was so angry that she complained, 'It's already after working hours. I'm supposed to be relaxing now. But he still orders me around. He's so annoying!'

However, no matter how angry Anne was, she didn't have the courage to retort. All she could do was complain inwardly. She opened the fridge and took out some vegetables and meat, intending to make a bowl of noodles for him.

Cooking noodles was the easiest and most efficient. In less than thirty minutes, she came out of the kitchen, carrying a tray with two bowls of noodles in her hands.

She put the larger bowl of noodles in front of George and said in a timid tone, "I...I'm really not good at cooking. Just make do with the noodles."

George took the chopsticks that Anne handed over to him, picked some noodles, and put them in his mouth. Then he frowned.

Anne returned to her seat and was about to eat when he put down his chopsticks.

Her heart skipped a beat again. She raised her head and asked in a panic, "What's wrong?"

A trace of embarrassment flashed through George's eyes. He looked at her and said awkwardly, "You just said that you know a take-out restaurant that serves delicious food. Call them and order for us."

Anne was rendered speechless.

She was angry, but she didn't dare to lose her temper. She suppressed her emotions and said in a low voice, "Since I have cooked the noodles, just make do with them. I think my cooking is not that bad."

George's facial expression became cold. "I can't make do with your cooking."

Anne wanted to scold him. But she didn't dare. 'You can make do with me as your wife, but you can't make do with my cooking?'

Since she was living in his house, she had no other choice but to give in to his demands. Before he paid her the millions of dollars he had promised, she wouldn't offend him.

Anne took out her phone and opened the app for take-out food. She ordered a luxury set menu for him and said angrily, "Transfer the money to me on WeChat. Two hundred and thirty dollars in total."

George wasn't able to retort.

Anne lived in his villa for free. She worked in his company, which paid well. He even gave her a ride to and from work every day. So he thought that it was too much for her to ask him to pay the two hundred and thirty dollars. But when he remembered the taste of the noodles he had eaten just now, he decided that it was better to give her money.

So he took out his phone from his pocket, opened WeChat, and transferred two hundred and thirty dollars to her. He was about to put his phone back in his pocket when a friend request popped up.

His calm face turned gloomy at once.

George glanced at Anne. With a stern look, he read the message out loud word by word. "Mr. Liang, my name is Queenie Liu. I'm from A University. I've been admiring you for a long time. May I add you on WeChat?"

Anne, who had started eating her noodles, got agitated when she heard the words. She was so shocked that she choked.

"Ahem! Ahem! Ahem!" Anne cleared her throat; her face flushed. She patted her chest so she could breathe smoothly. With a guilty conscience, she didn't dare to look at his eyes. She just lowered her head and took a sip of the soup.

But George's eyes were still fixed on her, and he was giving her a meaningful look. "Mrs. Liang, what do you think? Should I add her on WeChat or not?"

Fortunately, Anne was able to control herself not to spit out the soup in her mouth. She swallowed it hard before she raised her head and met his eyes. Pretending to look calm, she asked, "Are you asking for my opinion?"

"Of course," George replied coldly.

Feeling guiltier now, Anne touched her nose and muttered, "Just add her. After all, she has been admiring you for a long time."

George's tightly pressed lips curved into a playful smile. He then said in a low voice, "Mrs. Liang, you are so generous. Are you not afraid that I will be seduced and taken away?"

It was what she wanted the most. She even prayed in her heart, 'God, please have someone take him away from me as soon as possible.'

Anne continued eating her noodles and said, "Some people are destined to be together in the end. I'm an educated person, and I can understand it."

"What did she give you?" George asked. The smile on his face vanished, and he was back to his cold and gloomy expression.

As soon as those words came out of his mouth, Anne shivered and dropped her chopsticks on the table. Her eyes widened in shock.

With a trembling hand, she picked up her chopsticks and pretended to be calm. "What are you talking about? I don't understand."

With a darkened expression, George snapped, "Think it over. It's either you tell me the truth, or you suffer the consequences."

Not willing to admit it, Anne raised her chin and asked, "What do you mean? Why are you thinking that I gave her your WeChat ID?"

George looked at her and said slowly, "Because you are the only one on my contact list who is short of money. So tell me. How much did she give you?"

Anne slammed the chopsticks on the table, glared at him, and snapped, "Is it really a big deal? I just gave her your WeChat ID. Besides, she is beautiful, with plump breasts and buttocks. Hey, she's a catch! You are so lucky that you've gotten a gentle, generous, and considerate wife like me. You should feel grateful."

George's face was expressionless as he looked at Anne. He knew that she was only pretending to be calm. "How much did she give you?"

Anne sighed and looked at his cold eyes fearfully. "Can we not talk about money? It's hurting my feelings," she said in a low voice.

"Okay. Then transfer the two hundred and thirty dollars back to me, Mrs. Liang," George said.
