Chapter 7 A Game Of Cat And Mouse (Part One)

Murray was a friend of Evelyn. They were in the same university and both of them were G City locals. There were many similarities between the two of them. Both of them were the only child in their family. And they had the same hobbies, so they got along well with each other at the first party.

When they were about to reach the gate of the university, Evelyn stopped him.

"Well, Murray, can you lend me some money?" she asked.

"What's wrong?" he replied.

"I don't want to go back to the dormitory in this dress. They will definitely ask me about it. I'm going to get a room outside the school for a night."

Murray immediately took out a wallet from his jeans and gave her a one hundred. "If you are hungry, go and have some midnight snack. You don't have to pay me back."

"But..."

Before Evelyn could say anything more, she was stopped by his glare.

There were many hotels near the school, so Evelyn randomly found one. When she checked in, the owner of the hotel had been staring at her strangely. As soon as she got the room card, she fled to the third floor.

Evelyn took a shower and changed clothes. She just randomly chose some cheap clothes outside the hotel. After taking off her uniform, she put them on the washing table and carefully washed them. Then she raised the hair dryer and blew the clothes for two hours. It was not until the uniform was dry that she carefully folded them and put them on the bedside.

Without her phone by her side, Evelyn got up early with her strong willpower.

She brushed her teeth, washed her face, checked out, bought a breakfast in the teahouse, and waited for the bus while eating.

At 8 o'clock, she returned to the company. She took the elevator to the Logistics Department on the sixth floor and complained to the manager in tears. Finally, she opened the staff's exclusive wardrobe with joy and took out the backpack and women's suit that she had left.

At 11 o'clock, Evelyn went to the twenty sixth floor to clean up. She still had a lingering fear. The door of the CEO's office was tightly closed. She stood on tiptoe and looked through the glass window, only to find that there was no one inside.

After hesitating for a long time, Evelyn walked up to the three secretaries with a mop in her hand and stretched out her hand to greet them.

"Excuse me, hasn't our boss come back yet?" she asked.

The secretaries looked at each other as they heard her question.

Worried that they might think she had an ulterior motive, Evelyn explained in a hurry, "I don't know when to clean the office, so I come here to ask."

"Our boss doesn't like others to enter his office at will. If he wants to clean it, he will tell us and we will inform you again," the secretary closest to her said expressionlessly.

"Okay. I see," she said and nodded. 'But she still didn't answer my question, ' Evelyn wondered.

Dejected, Evelyn picked up the mop bucket and came to the elevator door. The reason why she took the exclusive elevator was that she found that the elevator was unimpeded and almost no one pressed the stop button. After being warned by Byron, Evelyn walked towards the ordinary elevator next to her subconsciously.

She thought to herself, 'Boss hasn't come back yet. It didn't matter if I sneaked into his elevator once or two times.'

With a fluke in her mind, Evelyn glanced at the desk to make sure that the three secretaries didn't notice her at all. Then she quickly opened the elevator door at the right hand and rushed in.

She habitually pressed the first number and descended to the third floor. Then she realized that she had pressed the wrong number. She hurriedly pressed the sixth number, praying in her heart that she would not be found by colleagues passing by the first floor to steal the CEO's exclusive elevator.

Byron just came back from the construction site of the resort. In addition to the special assistant, Vincent, he was also accompanied by the department manager and the chief engineer who participated in the development of the project. When he entered the hall of the company, the employees passing by greeted him one by one, but he always wore a poker face and at most nodded politely in response.

A group of people were waiting for the elevator quietly. At the moment the elevator door opened, a group of elites were shocked to see a "maid" standing in the elevator. When their eyes met, she looked frightened. She looked at Byron in the middle of the crowd as if she had seen a ghost.

The more surprising thing was still to come.

Their boss, Byron, shouted at her, "Come out!"

The elites all looked at the girl who made the boss's face change greatly. They had thought that she would walk out of the elevator with a mop bucket in her arms, but the next second, she shook her head and reached out to press the elevator button.

The two doors formed a crack, and the girl's pale face disappeared. However, the next move of Byron shocked everyone present.

However, the CEO, who had always been calm and self-control, pushed away one or two subordinates beside him and quickly walked to the ordinary elevator next him. Under the shocked eyes of many people, he stepped into the elevator with a cold face.

No one made a sound. The whole hall was so quiet that even the sound of dropping needles could be heard.

One minute later, Vincent asked dully, "Is that man the boss?"

The elevator door opened. Evelyn went back to twenty sixth floor again and looked around. When she was about to breathe a sigh of relief, the elevator next to her opened. A tall and awe inspiring body walked out of the door. Evelyn screamed in horror, turned around and was about to run, but the man behind her followed her in powerful steps.
