Chapter 6 When It Rains, It Pours (Part Two)

As soon as she finished speaking, the green light turned on and the car sped out like an arrow.

Five minutes later, the car stopped at a nearby gas station. Byron asked the staff to fill it up. Then he opened the door of the car, walked to the parterre, and took out his mobile phone from the pocket of his shirt.

Evelyn hadn't recovered, she had just experienced the "life and death speed". She just reached the moment of no thought. When Evelyn came to her senses, Byron had left the driver's seat. After getting out of the car, she trotted all the way behind the man.

"Boss, I feel a little sorry. I was going to take a bus, but in order to save me, you..."

Byron hung up the phone and turned around, "Get to the point!"

"How about I pay for your oil?" Evelyn tried to ask.

There was no response.

The staff waved to the two, "Sir, the gas is full!"

Byron glared at Evelyn, took out some cash from his wallet.

Evelyn stood there like an innocent lamb. 'It was just a kind suggestion. Am I wrong?' she thought.

In embarrassment, a man in plaid shirt rushed up and grabbed Evelyn's wrist.

"Evelyn! You... You..." The man wanted to say something but stopped on a second thought.

"Murray? Why are you here? What do you want to say? Oh, by the way, this is my..."

Before she could finish her words, the man named "Murray Bai" interrupted her painfully, "Evelyn, if you need money, you can borrow it from us. Why do you humiliate yourself like this? I want to remind you to not do anything you'll regret."

"What? What are you talking about?" Evelyn was confused.

However, Byron put away his wallet and stood aside, as if he was watching a play. He looked at the "maid uniform" of Evelyn with a playful look, and roughly understood why the man with plaid shirt was so angry.

"Evelyn, tell me, how long have you been with him? If you need money, would you please let me loan you some? It was not too late to stop it now! If you make such mistake, you will regret it forever. Don't do such a thing just because you are short of money!"

"Murray, what are you talking about? I am not..."

Murray Bai didn't want to listen to her explanation at all. He felt that he couldn't persuade her, so he aimed at Byron.

"You bastard! She is still a college student! You can't do that thing to her!" he shouted.

Byron didn't seem to want to explain. He just let him burn with anger. He looked up at his watch and frowned slightly.

Murray Bai felt humiliated, so he ignored the resistance of Evelyn and swung his fist at Byron.

Because Byron didn't take him seriously at all, so he was beaten hard.

Things happened so fast that Evelyn could only watch the two fighting in horror.

In fact, Byron had subdued Murray Bai when he was about to attack again, but Murray Bai didn't give up and kept waving his fists, which gave Evelyn an illusion that they were fighting with each other.

The policemen on patrol nearby heard the scream and quickly rushed to the scene to catch Murray Bai.

At 10 o'clock in the evening, Evelyn was sitting in the police station to make a statement.

It was just an ordinary dispute, but somehow, Murray Bai made a mistake and insisted that Byron had abducted the ignorant girl. The police looked at the dress of Evelyn and was a little skeptical. Without saying anything, he took the three people into the police station.

After making a statement, Evelyn saw that Byron was standing outside the door with a long face. She ran to him in a hurry and bowed her head to apologize.

The man said to her in a cold tone as usual, "He doesn't even have basic judgment, which is the same as you. How can you intercede for him? So far, haven't you given me enough trouble? I was fed up with it."

Evelyn moved her lips, but didn't know what to say.

Byron was right. She would only "ask for help" and never reflect on herself. The only way she could think of at that moment was to beg Byron not to pursue the legal accountability for Murray.

After living for 24 years, Evelyn finally saw her own true face-a coward.

She looked up at Byron and lowered her head again before their eyes met.

On the way back, Evelyn was in a bad mood.

She still remembered the boss's expression when he got in the car and left. That man always had a straight face in front of her, and his tone was mean. She doubted whether she was too stupid or he was so harsh.

Murray Bai patted her shoulder with guilt and said, "It's all my fault. It's all my fault! You can blame me."
