Chapter 6 Brawling Out My Heart

Ember's POV

It all turned out well just as I had planned it.

I had watched enthusiastically as my daughter got crowned. I had a mixed feeling at that moment, it should have been me! That was definitely meant to be my crown.

Had my father not been a coward!

Had I not married my Godforsaken husband. It was too late, my face is already half wrinkled, I couldn't attract a young man like Alpha Orion anymore, or maybe I was wrong. I should have taken the second option of magic I was offered from onset.

I felt a sizzling sensation in my lap and cried out in agony. I raised up my dress slightly as the rune that caused it had disappeared into my skin.

Something is wrong somewhere, I can feel it in my gut!

Thankfully, I was alone. I opened my portion bags and brought out a blue transparent bottle. I opened it, poured a little bit of its black content on my palm and poured it deep into my throat.

I felt instant relief, the rune surfaced again painlessly.

I let out a fresh breath, that had scared me softly. The coven leader had warned me severally to ensure the runes stayed un tampered with, that is my protective shield against any kind of attack.

I wasn't originally born a witch, It was self made. I went through shady ways to get this power, the only thing a werewolf fears,

I was originally born a she-wolf, an Alpha's daughter, a lady of high honor not until my family was ruined by Alpha Gideon, the present Alpha's father and here I am, against all odds back to where I actually belong,

Laying claim on what was originally mine.

I heard a knock sound at the door. I hastily dropped my dress and adjusted my posture. I was no longer a freaking headmaid, I am a queen mother now, I have to act like one.

I picked up my portion bottles and hid them, including the usual that I sprinkle in Alpha Orion's tea everyday. Even my daughter Aurora knows nothing of my power source, if she did, she wouldn't need me anymore,

I couldn't afford that happening, she had to keep depending on me no matter how greedy she is starting to get.

The door knob turned before I could approve of the intrusion, but he walked in anyway. I smiled warmly at him, but I dug my nails in my bed sheet silently letting out my frustration,

His breath stinks every time, but I just had to allow him the pleasure because if I don't, he wouldn't put all he has on the line for me,

"Elder Jafar, I didn't know you would still be awake?"

"I couldn't sleep without wishing you a good night Ember, could I?" He said coyly and winked at me.

I felt nauseous!

There was nothing of a good night in his dictionary but a quick sex. I shifted slightly on the bed to accommodate his weight as he sat beside me. I smiled at him as he dropped his hand on my lap. He raised my dress slightly as his hand ravaged through my thick thigh.

"You know Jafar, we have to be more careful, I am a queen mother now."

"And I am an elder of this pack, who dares question me?"

I watched him with rapt attention, it was true he had remained a loyalist to me even after my father's cowardly death, but that was only because he had always wanted me in his bed ever since I was barely twelve but he didn't have the guts back then,

My father would have had his head and displayed it in front of the pack house for all others to see.

Unfortunately, it was all a mere fantasy of what could have been, life had happened but at my older age, I wasn't going to give up until I make everything mine and ruin those that oppressed me in the past.

A knock sounded at the door again, Elder Jafar jumped slightly, and so did I. Thankfully, he hastily got his filthy hands off me and put a distance between us. The doorknob turned slightly and Aurora walked in,

My mind deflated instantly, thankfully, it wasn't someone else. Her gaze fell on Elder Jafar and she bowed slightly to acknowledge his presence, but I noticed how her brow furrowed.

"Mother, I didn't know you would still be awake. I wanted to discuss something important but I guess I was intruding, sorry."

Elder Jafar cleared his throat,

"No Luna Aurora, you aren't intruding, your mother and I are done talking."

"Oh! I see." Aurora responded sarcastically.

All the while I wasn't listening to both their banter, I had something else in mind, my gaze was on Aurora's crown,

I had made this happen!

It lay beautifully on her head, her round beautiful face compliment it just as it did mine when I was younger. I had secretly tried on this crown where my mother used to keep it, I was barely thirteen,

It felt good to be me back then.

Without another word, Elder Jafar left the room leaving Aurora and I. I had come out of my fantasy to face my reality, I could no longer afford to be that girl anymore, but I just have to take what I can have now.

"Mother, why are you still entertaining this idiotic old fool?" Aurora said angrily,

I smiled warmly,

"Are you getting cocky because you have the Luna crown now?"

"I am sorry mother, i ... .I just think you are too good for a slug like him."

I blushed furiously, my daughter knows how to get me, she wasn't mocking me, instead she knew I deserved better since I gave her the best every she-wolf desires.

"Not to worry Luna, we still need him, but I will discard him as soon as our wings get spread enough."

Aurora shook her head in affirmation, her face brightened and she smiled at me, her white teeth complementing her already stunning face,

A face that makes all heads turn, especially men of power and authority,

"Why did you seek me out this late Luna?"

"Mother, there is a problem!"
