Chapter 4 A New Chapter Ahead

Zara got back and went to see her boss,so she could ask him for a loan, she knocked softly on the door and was ushered in,

She greeted him politely but,she got no response, that made her a bit worried because her boss, had always responded to her greetings cheerfully

"Sir I need your help with something urgently", she said but before she could finish her sentence,he interrupted her rudely,

"What is your problem" Zara,he yelled at her, why would you spill a hot soup on our customers,I have always known you to be a careful person,so how did you make this mistake,he asked her

"Am sorry about that sir",it was an accident I didn't mean to, it's just that I got news that my brother had just fainted so I panicked and I spilled the bowl on her it was not intentional,am so sorry sir

"I don't need your apologies Zara", because of what you have done, you could have shut down my restaurant and I won't have that happen,I have been so kind to you,is this how you repay my kindness??

"am so sorry sir,it was an accident I didn't mean to spill the soup on her",am so sorry sir, please forgive me, she pleaded getting on her knees,

"and am not taking your kindness for granted,I appreciate everything you have done for me sir, please pardon me sir, she pleaded with him,

"There is nothing I can do about it,you are fired Zara",I can't loose customer's because of you, he said

"Please sir, don't do this to me", I really need this job,my brother's hospital bills depends on me, please sir have pity on me she said crying profusely

"There is nothing I can do for you Zara", that's the only option I was given if not she would have pressed charges on you, and she would have Sued the restaurant to and I can't have that,he said,

"So you have to leave right now",I don't want to see you in this premises anymore,this is the only way I can help you now,

"because I know that you can't fight a court case" and your brother depends on you,so you have to leave from here this instant,he said harshly to her,

"Please sir, have pity on me", please don't fire me,she cried out

"Didn't' you hear a word I said",get out of my office this minute,he barked at her.

"Getting up from the floor",she cleaned her tears and opened the door, stepping outside of his office to get her personal belongings,

"She was overwhelmed by the amount of bills",she has to pay, and she needs to find a job as soon as possible,so she can pay for her brother's hospital bills,

Two days later,I need to go to the hospital I need to see Collins and know how he is doing,she said.

At the hospital

Zara was waiting for the doctor in his office, Good day doctor, please I want to know about my brother's health condition.

"it's good that you are here,miss Zara I have something important to tell you about his condition,

"We have to perform his surgery as soon as possible",his condition have advanced to the late stage of leukemia and we have to do the operation as soon as possible.

"Okay doctor", when can we do the surgery and how much will it cost, she asked the doctor,

The operation is a very expensive one and will cost about ($15,000 dollars) and you have being owing the hospital ($5,000 dollar),for the treatment given to him, since he started staying in the hospital

"That would be a total of ($20,000 dollar)and you have to make the complete payment before the treatment will commence,the doctor said

Doctor please can you start the treatment,I promise you that I will get the money somehow, please save my brother,he is the only family I have in this world, she pleaded.

Look miss Zara I am doing my best by letting your brother stay here and undergoing some treatment, but this is against the hospital policy ,am sorry but there is nothing I can do for you.

"Okay doctor", but can I please see my brother she asked,

"Yes of course you can" ,Nurse he called out to one of his nurse, please take her to Mr Collins ward,"yes sir the nurse replied

"Please come with me miss",as they walked towards the hospital hallway,he is in this ward please do not take long.

She slowly opened the door and entered the ward,

"Hey sis, you are here, am glad you came", the doctor has been looking for you,he said that he has something important to discuss with you, please go and see him.

"I have seen him Collins she said taking a seat beside him,he said that your leukemia has advanced to the late stage and we have to proceed with your operation as soon as possible,

"Ok sis but how much will it cost",I bet the treatment will be so expensive he asked,

"The doctor said that we have to pay ($20,000 dollars) for the treatment,($20,000 dollars) "sis that is a huge amount of money", what are we going to do about this,we are already in so much debt,am so sorry sis that I have been nothing but a burden to you,

"Please don't say that,we are family and family always support each other through thick and thin right",

"And you are the only family I have got left", I will do anything to save your life,I promise you that you will have your operation as soon as possible and I will do anything in my power to get the money.

"But sis how would you get the money to pay for my treatment", it's a lot of money and you recently lost your job and we have so many unpaid debts.

"Do not worry Collins I will do everything to get the money somehow", nothing will happen to you, and please take care of yourself ,okay.

The following day,Zara stepped out of her small apartment,in search of a job,she had already been to several firms and organization looking for a job but have been rejected,

Just as all hope was seen to be lost,as she walked down the street,she came and stood at the gate of a luxurious mansion,

Zara's eyes landed on the help-wanted sign, that was put up on the walls of the fence,her eyes were filled with sparks of hope flickering to life as she wondered if this could be the opportunity she desperately needed.

She knocked at the gate hesitated after a few minutes the gate man opened the gate.

"What are you doing here miss?? He asked

"Good afternoon sir, sorry to bother you,am here for the job",she replied

"Okay miss but you have to come back tomorrow morning for the interview and as it is the master is not around".
