Chapter 9 The City of Dawn

In the center of the garden palace, a plane and jets are placed along with their pilots. The Minister stands at the top where everyone can see him.

"Magnus pilots, guardians, warriors. You have my blessings to protect our people, our world. To rule this society, you must face a big responsibility. To our future, thy shall be with you!" The Minister said.

The people stand for a round of applause, and others whistle. A marching band started to walk through the stadium. The higher-ups salute the pilots. The guardians are standing beside the warriors, giving an honorable salute to Magnus' pilots.

Meanwhile, it's already five in the afternoon. At full speed, Megan was driving fast to the hospital. Jess collapsed due to fatigue. When she got there, Mr. Lim is placing food on the table.

"Megan, you're here." Jess said.

"You scared the shit out of me, buddy. Are you okay?" Megan asked.

"It's just fatigue, nothing to worry about." Jess said.

"Nothing to worry about? You almost fell on the stairs. You're draining yourself and got a headache that made you collapse. It's not okay, sweetheart." Mr. Lim said.

"Dad, I'm okay. I'll be careful from now on."

"Just rest, alright? Don't put yourself too hard." Megan said.

"I've told her that many times." Mr. Lim said.

"I'll call the pals." Megan said.

"You don't have to. I told you I'm fine." Jess said.

"They will be here in a minute, anyway." Megan said.

The group arrived and hugged Jess.

"You little fella." Lany said.

"We're worried." Vivienne said.

"What's up, Uncle Lim?" Lany said.

"How are you, Lany? Did y'all eat?" Mr. Lim said.

"Thank you for asking Uncle Lim, we really appreciate the food." Lany said.

"It's not yours, Lany." Vivienne said.

"I'll order something." Liz said.

"Alright, ladies. I'll be outside, just call me if y'all need anything." Mr. Lim said.

"Alrighty, righty, Uncle Lim." Lany said.

"Uncle Lim, can I talk to you for a minute?" Megan asked.

"Sure, what do you want to talk about?" Mr. Lim asked.

They were on the balcony.

"Is Tiago sister blonde?" Megan asked.

"You're right. Tyla is blonde. The detective still didn't found her. We're worried that might be something bad happen to her." Mr. Lim said.

"How did Tiago cope about it?" Megan asked.

"Tiago almost killed himself a week ago. Luckily, the police and the ambulance respond immediately." Mr. Lim said.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Where is he now?" Megan asked.

"He was sent back to jail at the patient's room. The doctor was monitoring him." Mr. Lim said.

"That's sad." Megan said.

"Why are you asking?" Mr. Lim asked.

"I just thought I could help him. Tyla went missing near in my street." Megan said.

"Thank you for helping, Megan." Mr. Lim said.

"Don't worry, Uncle Lim. We will find her." Megan said.

Mr. Lim just nodded for approval. He lit a cigarette. Megan took a smoke too. An hour passed by, they bid goodbye to Jess and Uncle Lim. Vivienne went back to the Blue Lounge Bar. Megan drove back home with Liz and Lany.

"What did you talk about with Uncle Lim, Cous?" Lany asked.

"It's possible that Tyla is in their world. I saw her right at the party at Springwood. Uncle Lim said that she's blonde. She went missing for a month." Megan said.

"Didn't the time here stop when we're at there world?" Liz asked.

"Yeah, how could she went missing for a month?" Lany asked.

"I dunno, maybe something happened to her. We have to find her. Tiago, her brother attempt suicide just about a week. He's probably devastated for her sister." Megan said.

"Let's find her." Liz said.

"I'm all for it." Lany said.

The house suddenly started to glitch. They are at Leo's house. There's no sign of Leo. Only the quiet whisper of an open window. They went outside. The sky is blue, and the sun is warming.

"What are we gonna do?" Lany asked.

Megan and Liz looked at the silver car parked at Leo's house.

"You know what I'm thinking?" Liz asked.

"Stealing a car is illegal but Leo will understand, it's for Tyla." Megan said.

"Let's do this, fellas!" Lany said.

Megan and Liz started unlocking the car and it opened. Liz took the co-pilot seat. Lany is in the back looking out. Megan is the main driver.

"Let's go to Springwood and find Tyla!" Lany said.

"Alright!" Liz said.

"Buckle up, pals." Megan said.

The car engine started creating a boost sound. They flew as high as the sky. They could see below the futuristic cities. After a minute, the navigation suddenly changed. The car did auto-pilot and went in another direction.

"What the heck is happening?" Lany asked.

"Alright, relax. It seems that Leo activated the auto-pilot." Megan said.

"I can see it. I'll try to hack the system if I get lucky." Liz said.

"Guys, why do I feel like something is gonna bad happen." Lany said.

"Don't jinx it. We'll be fine." Megan said.

"Damn, I can't access it." Liz said.

"See? They will gonna caught us in act." Lany said.

"We didn't do any crime, buddy." Liz said.

"Ah yeah, stealing a car, right?" Lany said.

The car parks in front of the skyscraper building. They arrived at the city. It is different from the others. It looks like only rich people live in the city. The people are walking with their elegant dresses and suits. They greet each other and continue their business.

"So this is the rich people city looks like, interesting." Lany said.

"Did you have Leo's number, Meg?" Liz asked.

"I forgot to ask." Megan said.

Megan checked the phone log on the car's screen, but there are no contacts.

"So, what now?" Lany asked.

"Let's ask the receptionist." Megan said.

"Great idea." Liz said.

They went inside the skyscraper. The lady receptionist greeted them warmly.

"Welcome to the Guardians of Dawn, how can I help you?" The receptionist asked.

"What city is this?" Lany asked.

"This is the City of Dawn." The lady receptionist and smiled.

"I know this is random. Do you know Leo the scientist? I forgot his surname." Megan said.

"The tall guy and have glasses." Lany said.

"He's rich and probably part of a powerful family, I think so." Liz said.

The lady receptionist looked at them flabbergasted.

"I believe it is Mr. Leo Giovanni. I'm afraid to tell you that you can't meet him. He's a VIP and official. Only the higher ups, Aristocrat, Dukes, and the Guardians will be allowed to have an appointment to him." The lady receptionist said.

"Wow, he is really an important person." Lany said.

"What are we gonna do? He's only allowed to talk to rich people." Liz said.

"Can you please call him, and tell him where is he?" Megan asked.

"He's having a meeting with The Boards upstairs. I cannot interrupt them." The lady receptionist said.

"Does he have a bussiness card or something?" Megan asked.

"He has a card but it is in my screen." The lady receptionist said.

"Can I see it? Megan asked.

"I will show you but just once." The lady receptionist said.

She showed her screen, and Lany took a picture of it.

"Gotcha." Lany said.

"Thank you so much." Megan said.

"We're not bad people, thank you again." Liz said.

They called the number showing on Lany's phone. Megan dialed the number. The call was rejected.

"Great, it's not working." Megan said.

"We're fucked." Liz said.

"Guys, I see them!" Lany said.

They are walking through the entrance.

"Well, hello guys!" Lany said.

"What y'all doing here, buddies?" Vincent asked.

"It's a long story, Vincent. The thing is, Leo, your car set into auto-pilot." Megan said.

"Where do you want to go?" Leo asked.

"At Springwood, we're gonna find a missing a person." Megan said.

"I'll go with you." Leo said.

"You still have a meeting left, Mr. Leo." The man said in a formal suite.

Leo introduced him. He is August Green, Leo's assistant. He is kind and quite innocent but in a good way.

"How's being an assistant, August?" Lany asked.

"Great, I've had a lot of opportunities. I met important people, powerful families, elites, warriors, and Magnus pilots. Everything is great." August said.

"Not in my world, lucky you." Lany said.

"Are you an Assistant too, Ms. Lany?" August asked.

"You can call me Lany, just by my name. Yup, I'm an assistant at a corporate company. It was bad." Lany said.

"I'm so sorry hear that." August said.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna resign soon." Lany said.

"You've said that a lot of times but you didn't. Just resign already." Liz said.

"I can't work where Jess works anymore. I heard they have a terrible human resource." Lany said.

"It's just a rumors." Liz said.

"Whatever, anyways." Lany said.

They went to where Leo's car was parked.

"Leo, can you deactivate the auto-pilot?" Megan asked.

"Of course, right away." Leo said.

He deactivated the auto-pilot immediately.

"There you are. Can you please tell who is this missing person? I'll help you." Leo said.

"It's Tyla Martinez. She's blonde. I saw her in the party at the Springwood." Megan said.

"I'll already sent a Guardian's to take her back, don't worry." Fabian said.

"Thank you, Fabian. It's very helpful." Megan said.

"Yea, man. Thank you." Lany said.

"You've made our job easier." Liz said.

"You will going meet her at Leo's house. See you there." Sandro said.

"We're going to get her back safely." Benjamin said.

"See y'all there!" Vincent said.

They left. Leo has a serious face mode.

"Are you okay?" Megan asked.

"What? I'm fine. August, cancel all my meeting today. We're going back home." Leo said.

"Right away, Sir." August said.

August took another car with Lany and Liz. Megan hopped in Leo's car. She is sitting in the co-pilot seat. Leo is the main driver now.

"Fabian's been very helpful to you, I see." Leo said out of nowhere.

"He's kind and helpful. I like him." Megan said.

Leo stepped on the gas at full speed.

"Jesus." Megan said.

He put the car into normal speed.

"Why did you do that, Leo? Jeez." Megan said.

"I thought you liked driving at full speed? Remember at Springwood, you did something unpredictable that caught us off guard." Leo said.

"Okay, I'm sorry for doing it. Are you mad at me? Just say it for fuck sake." Megan said.

Leo went quiet for a while.

"I'm really sorry, Megan. I didn't mean it, I'm so sorry." Leo said.

"All good. No hard feelings." Megan said.

They arrived at Leo's house.

"Megan, I'm really sorry." Leo said.

"You've already said that. Don't worry I'm not mad." Megan said.

"What happened?" Lany asked.

"Doesn't matter." Megan said.

Leo put a bottle of wine on the table. Lany and Liz took it. August joined them. Megan lit a cigarette and went through the window. Leo stood beside her like a kid. They waited for Tyla's arrival.
