Chapter 5 Third view

Emily rushed down the hospital corridor, her heart racing with urgency. She burst into the supply closet, scanning the shelves for spirit and bandages. Her hands trembled as she grabbed a bottle of antiseptic spirit, gauze pads, and a roll of bandages.

As she rushed back to the man's side, The man's face was pale, and his eyes were closed, but he was still breathing.

Emily quickly poured the spirit onto the gauze pads and began to clean the wound. The man groaned in pain, Emily worked quickly, applying the gauze pads to the wound and wrapping the bandages around his arm.

"I'm not going to leave you here alone" Emily said.

"Thank you".

Emily checked her watch and realized it was already 7 pm. "Oh shit, I got to go, I'm late for meeting.

The man's wound was stable, Emily knew she had to leave, but she was reluctant to go. She didn't want to leave the man's side.

But something compelled her to get up and leave.

"Wait I still don't know your name"the man said to Emily.

"It's Emily, she said smiling back to him and left for the meeting.

Emily was rushing to the office, her mind still reeling from the events at the hospital. She was running late for her meeting with Mr. Quin, and she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach.

As she turned a corner, she collided with her coworker, Tina.

"Oh Tina, I'm sorry" she said, trying to sound calm.

"Nice of you to finally show up, ready to steal more jobs from your colleagues?" Tina said to Emily.

"Why don't you get lost Tina". Lucy added.

"I would be more careful of who I defend, girl. Next time it could be you. You think you are so much better than everyone here, don't you? Who knows what you did to get the case. Tell me , Did you f**k the boss?" Tina said to Emily.

"I didn't need to do that to get the case, Tina. I got the case because I'm the better lawyer?" Emily said.

"Than me?! Please everyone here knows I'm more qualified and I've worked on much tougher cases than you could ever imagine, I..........

Mr. Quin walked into the office, his presence commanding attention. The arguing workers immediately fell silent, their eyes fixed on him.

"Mr. Quin, Tina greeted him. I stand by what I said, I'm most fitting choice for this case and it is unfair that you just give it to Emily" Tina speaking to Mr. Quin.

"I did it because, I'm confident she can help us win. And as for you. Not so much". Mr. Quin said while facing Tina.

"At least give me a chance boss." Tina said.

"Alright then, why don't we both work on a defence plan. And the one with better plan takes the case." Emily said.

"You must be out of your mind. Have you ever been in an actual courtroom?" Tina asked Emily.

"So you are scared?" Emily added.

"Scared of what, I will take the challenge and why don't we spice things up a little bit. Whoever losses gets the f**k out of this company and never works in this industry again." Tina said.

"Deal and why don't you be the judge Mr. Quin." Emily said while facing Quin.

"Sure and Emily if you win a case this magnitude? I got no problem promoting you to senior legal associate". Mr. Quin said.

"What about me" Tina added.

"As for you Tina, partner" Mr.Quin said to Tina.

Emily trying to diffuse the tension, offered a handshake to her colleague, Tina. "May the better lawyer win". Emily said.

"I will". Tina said while turning to leave.

Emily walked back to her desk, her mind racing with thoughts and questions.

"Hi that was intense" Lucy said.

"The sooner we get this over with, the better." Emily said to Lucy.

"Agreed! But you can't possibly deny that there's something going on between you and Quin." Lucy said.

Emily leaned in close to Lucy, her voice barely audible. "I have something to tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone," she whispered urgently.

Lucy's eyes widened with curiosity. "I promise, what is it?"

Emily took a deep breath before revealing, "I had a one-night stand with Mr. Quin."

Lucy's eyes nearly popped out of her head. "What? When? How?"

Emily quickly glanced around the break room, ensuring they were alone. "It was a few nights ago. I was out with friends, and he was there. We had too much to drink, and...it just happened."

Lucy's expression changed from shock to concern. "Emily, are you okay? What did you do? That's a huge mistake."

Emily nodded, feeling a mix of emotions. "I know, I know. I told you it was a mistake. I

Lucy's eyes narrowed. "I don't know if he sees it as a mistake. I mean the way he looks at you".

Emily stood outside Mr. Quin's office, her heart racing with a mix of emotions. She took a deep breath and pushed open the door, trying to appear calm.

Mr. Quin looked up from his desk, a hint of a smile on his face. "Ah, Emily. Come in. What can I do for you?"

Emily closed the door behind her and approached his desk. "I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity," she said, trying to sound sincere.

Mr. Quin raised an eyebrow. "I know you are just as capable as anyone else in the office"Quin said while standing up from his seat, his eyes fixed intently on Emily. He walked slowly around his desk, his movement deliberate and calculated.
