"What."
"My grandmother is staying with me for a couple of days, she might suspect something if she doesn't see you there."
"Ohh my God Quin i, i..... really, I don't know if that's ..... Emily trying to give excuse.
"Please, she's all the family i have left."
"Fine, I'll do it." Emily agreed at stay at Quin's house.
"Okay I'll pick you up at 8 tomorrow and try to get some rest." Quin said while leaving Emily's house.
The next morning, Emily woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing. She groggily reached over to silence it, only to see Quin's name flashing on the screen.
"Hey, beautiful," Quin's deep voice said on the other end. "I'm outside.
"Uh, yeah. I'll be right down," Emily stuttered, trying to play it cool.
Twenty minutes later, Emily stepped out of her apartment building and into Quin's waiting car. He flashed her a charming smile as he opened the door, and Emily felt her pulse quicken. And they drove to Quin's apartment.
"Hello dear." Grandma was sitting at the living room waiting for her.
"Hi Grandma, Good morning." Emily greeted grandma.
"I was wondering how come i don't see any of Emily's stuff here. Are you two really married." Grandma asked Quin.
"Look, fine. I didn't want to tell you this but....uhmmm, Emily and i got into a big fight last night before you came ummmm....and.. she took her stuff with her when she left." Quin answered grandma question.
"And you two don't even have a Wedding photo." Grandma inquired.
"We were going to but....i.....I was too busy with work so we decided we should do it later." Quin responded.
"So you two are good now." Grandma said.
"Of course uhmmm.... I have the rest of her stuff in the car so i am just going to pack them in her room."
"Great, so you two kids need to get along now, c'mon breakfast is ready." Grandma said.
As they sat down to eat, Emily realized she needed to go to work.
"I gotta go, I'm going to be late for work." Emily said to Quin and grandma.
Quin held her hand, "I called in sick for you today, take a day off you need it and I'll be right here with you." Quin said to Emily.
"Do you two need me to leave the room? Give you some privacy?" Grandma asked the both of them.
"No of course, you can stay." Emily said.
"Cause i can. You won't even know I'm here." Grandma said.
"Okay."
Just as Quin, Emily, and Grandma Jean were enjoying their meal, a familiar voice called out from the door.
"Quin! Quin." She called out his name.
Quin turned to see a woman with long, curly brown hair and a bright smile running towards him.
"Molly, you are back. Jess! Oh my god, it's been ages!" Quin exclaimed, opening his arms for a hug.
Molly, Quin's childhood friend, squeezed him tightly. "I know, I know, I've been meaning to come visit for years! But life got busy, you know how it is."
As they chatted, Emily couldn't help but notice the easy camaraderie between Quin and Molly. They reminisced about old times, sharing stories and laughter.
As they talked and laughed, Emily's mind started wandering back to the picture she had seen in Quin's jotter. The one of a girl and now she realized that the girl was molly.
"It's her." She said to herself.
"Do you know molly uh." Grandma asked Emily.
"No who is she."
Grandma smiled knowingly. "Quin and Molly go way back. They were inseparable growing up. "She and Quin practically grew up together but to be frank. I don't like her, she's a feisty girl. You better watch out." Grandma whispered to Emily's ears.
"Is that your new girlfriend?" Molly asked Quin.
"No, she's my wife." Quin said while hugging Emily.
Molly was surprised to hear that Quin was married.
"What! Wife?" Molly repeated, her eyes widening in shock. "Quin, you're married?"
Quin nodded, his expression sheepish. "Yeah, I know it's a surprise. I didn't exactly plan on it happening."
"Emily, this is molly and molly my wife."
Molly's gaze turned to Emily, who was watching the exchange with interest.
Emily smiled politely. "Hi."
Molly's eyes darted back to Quin, her expression a mix of confusion and curiosity. "Quin, seems like you're doing pretty well without me here. You never mentioned getting married."
Quin sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "To be honest i was only looking after you because i am indebted to your father. I've always seen you as my little sister."
Molly raised an eyebrow. "I made a mistake Quin , I'm sorry. I shouldn't have left."
Quin shrugged. "I know, it's okay, it's alright. I'm happy now.
Grandma eyes sparkled with a knowing glint as she watched the exchange between Quin, Molly, and Emily. She had seen enough, and her mind was whirling with thoughts.
"Well, I think I've had enough excitement for one day," Grandma said to Emily , her voice dripping with sly humor. "I'm going to go work on my garden.
With that, she turned and walked away.
"Fine, I'm going to rest, i had a long flight, I'll see you later molly said and left the house.
Emily couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to Quin and Molly's story. She found herself wondering about the picture in Quin's jotter again, and before she knew it, she was sneaking into the living room to grab the jotter.
As she flipped through the pages, her heart skipped a beat when she saw the familiar photo.
Quin's arms wrapped around Emily's waist, pulling her close as he hugged her from behind. His lips brushed against her neck, sending shivers down her spine.
"Hey, what's going on?" Quin whispered, his breath tickling her ear.
"What happened between you and Molly's father," Quin unsure how to respond.
"I've never told you this before but, at one stage of my i was blind my cornea was infected and four years ago i had a surgery which failed. I was at rock bottom and i even uhmm.. considered suicide and i actually would have done it as well if i hadn't been saved by an angel.
"An angel." Emily asked.
"Yeah she pulled me off the ledge. She told me to be strong later that day i had a cornea transplant it turns out Molly's father just passed away and he decided to donate his eyes."
"What did you say four years? Never mind. There must be a coincidence. So your eyes are all fine now?"
"Yeah. As long as i don't overstrain them they work just fine. Just everyday i thank God for Molly cause if it wasn't for her father, I would probably be dead."
"Okay then, good night."
"Emily, are you okay?"
"Yeah sure. Can you get the light off for me please?"
