Chapter 06 – In the arms of the Alpha

Tevena's POV

I went to a deep sleep when the voice from the light asked me to do it. I was in a deep slumber when I heard someone calling my name. It was like someone drugged me. Though I wanted to open my eyes, they were sealed and glued to each other.

"Wake up now, he is here for you!" the white light started to fade slowly and the voice was turned into a whisper. And the next moment I was in the arms of the Alpha!

"Huh!" I quickly gathered myself and he was kneeling near me.

The Alpha was kneeling in front of me. I quickly stood up, because I felt that I was disrespecting him, but imbalance made me fall into his arms again. He quickly caught me in his arms wrapping his strong arms around my waist.

"Sit. Don't stand up" His voice was laced with a command and that command made me sit on the chair without rejecting his order. He shuts his eyes for a few seconds. His ears were dancing and his forehead was frowned.

What is he doing? Oh, I know. He was talking to his wolf. I have seen this when wolves were talking to their inner wolf.

Then after some time, he opened his eyes. His eyes were different! His eyes were dark brown with grey pupils!

My eyes widened and the next moment he tightly shut his eyes and shook his head foe few times and re-opened them with the usual color of his eyes. He didn't say anything and took the water bottle closer to him and offered me it.

"Drink this. You will feel better" His voice was softened.

I was surprised by his sudden kindness towards me. Until a few hours ago, he was harsh on me and suddenly he was offering me water to show his empathy. I took the water bottle from his hand and had a few sips. I remember how Hattie shut the door on my face and ran away. I don't know why she was behaving like this with me.

"What happened?" My thoughts were cut off by his Alpha voice. I lowered my gaze and re-capped the bottle with the lid.

What should I do now? Should I tell him about Hattie? Will he believe me? Nah, I don't think so. I complained to him yesterday, and he punished me. I argued with myself while the sip of water circled in my mouth.

"Will you speak or shall I think that this was something you have done purposely to go home early?" He folded his arms and raised his egoistic chin a little giving me an Alpha vibe. I looked at him from the corner of my eyes and then quickly looked down. I gulp the water sip, to not to make him irritate further and started to speak.

"Nothing happened Alpha. It was just shut by the wind!" I said. He scoffed a mocking smile I heard and took a deep breath.

"Do you see me as a fool? A simple wind can't shut this door, even though I kicked two times to break it and you are telling me a bedtime story girl!" When he said the word girl, I looked at him.

"I mean Tevena!" He cleared his throat.

"Speak the truth. Did Hattie do this?" When he asked about Hattie I gave a glance on his face and then nodded my head in no.

"Fine. I'll find out" I heard he was huffing. I guess he clenched his jaw.

"Did you have a panic attack?" His voice softened again.

"What? No" I simply said.

"Then you were unconscious I was taking you out"

"It was like....forget it. I am fine now" Though I said about the light, he won't believe me.

"Tevena, you can talk to me. Look, I know I was a little harsh on you yesterday. It's because of the way you speak to me" He lowered to my level bringing our faces parallelly.

"Alpha, I don't know how the door shut, but I was trying my best to call for help and stay awake. Suddenly a light came towards me and a voice asked me to sleep" I said.

"Looks like you hallucinated" He looked at me for a few seconds and said with confusion.

"No, I was so sure that I was not hallucinated. I saw that white light and..."

"Fine, let's forget it. I need to speak to you about yesterday's accusation" He stood up and so did I.

"Forget about it Alpha. If I speak, you will punish me again. I will finish the work here and then leave as soon as possible" I slightly bowed to him and walked into the library.

"You don't need to do it!" I heard him from behind.

Really? Are you telling me now after ruining my day out with my friends?

"That's fine, I will finish what you ask me to do. Otherwise, I will get another punishment for disobeying Alpha's commands" I took the dirty piece of cloth to clean the lower parts of the rack.

"I'll stay here, in case you get locked inside again" He pulled a chair and sat.

"Do you think there's a door to lock again?" I pointed the fallen door to him.

"No one can't win against you. You should get selected to the school debate team" He said, but I didn't go to reply. I focused on finishing my job. I drank water occasionally and when done with the lower parts of the racks. I started to do the impossible, which was pushing the ladder.

I felt his gaze on me, but I didn't look at him. It wasn't very pleasant to push the ladder when he was looking at me.

"Let me help you" In a blink he was near to me.

"No, I can do this. Alpha, you go and do your work, and let me finish my punishment" I was stubborn.

"Move, are you disobeying to your Alpha?" I quickly moved away allowing him to push the ladder.

"Be careful!" When he said so I nodded and started to climb the ladder and cleaned the top part of the rack. I coughed from time to time. These racks were never cleaned.

"Alpha, can I ask you something?" I woke up my voice breaking the silence in the library.

"Hmmm" He was turning the pages of some books which cleaned from the lower rack.

"Why this library was closed? Seems like this hasn't been used in years. You have such a valuable interesting book collection. There are books that I have never heard or seen. Many old books have a historical value" I said wiping the dusts of the books.

"My grandfather built this library. He wanted to share the knowledge with everyone, but some misused it" He shrugged his shoulders.

"Like who? Wolves or humans?" I asked.

"I guess both parties and later the elders have decided to close the library and only the Alpha family or the top ranks of the wolves or humans who have gained the trust of the Alpha can use" He explained.

"Hmmm, but no one used this. Your family or anyone. Can I suggest you something Alpha?" I stopped my work and looked at him.

"Per day how much you talk Tevena?" He asked in an irritating tone.

"Now you remember my name at least. What I want to suggest to you is, that these books are wasting here Alpha. What if you can donate them to the school library?"

"Tevena, there are books like you said have a historical value, even though I don't know how many years they are old. Besides, I don't think that the elders will give their permission to do it" He said looking at the books and touching them with his fingertips.

"So, you have to do everything asking from the elders? Like you are going to marry a Luna who was not your mate" My tongue slipped and he gave me a fury look. His eyes enlarged and clenched his jaw.

"You have no right to speak about my personal life!" He growled and I was startled.

"Don't be too frank with me and don't think that just because I am here and talking to you, you can comment on my personal life! My Luna or my mate, I will take care of it. Understood?" He was pissed and rumbled in anger and hit on one of the large racks on which the ladder was sloped. The aftershock of his hit made the ladder go imbalanced. I was on the top of the ladder and I slipped on it and fell.

"Aaaahhh!" I screamed from the top of my lungs. I knew that within a few seconds, my back was gonna hit the floor hard and my backbone, legs, or arms could be fractured. I was expecting the pain, but it never came.

Instead, I was secured in Alpha's strong pair of arms for the second time in the day. I was so scared that I hid my face on his neck by wrapping my arms around his neck. My heart was beating so fast like of a horse.

"It's OK, I've got you. You are safe!" I thought that he would throw me away because I made him angry by speaking about his mate.

When I heard him speaking gently with a lower voice I slowly raised my face to look at him. His eyes tensed. His long fingertips were wrapped around my waist I lost looking at myself from his pupils. He cleared his throat and I felt so embarrassed and uncomfortable.

"Forgive me Alpha. I didn't mean to make you angry. I shouldn't comment about your personal life!" He slowly put me down and I was about to climb the ladder again.

"Tevena, I think you should go home now. You don't need to do this. I spoke with my father about your matter. At some point, he said that maybe your accusation was right! I will look into this matter deeply" His voice was unimaginably humble.

"You should go now!" He turned to go and I came out of the library behind of him. He showed me the way outside of the mansion.

In the evening

I had a bath and lay on the bed thinking about the day. Strange things happened in the Alpha's mansion. I was still puzzled about the white light and the voice I heard. The voice asked me to fall into sleep and on the other way it asked me to wake up. Thinking about falling into Alpha's arms made me anxious. I shouldn't tell this to anyone else. I was rolling on the bed and I didn't know I had fallen asleep.

I felt like I was floating on a feather. The comfortableness was dragging me towards something. It was so smooth and suddenly dropped into a dark forest. I knew that I was going to have the same dream that I was seeing throughout these two weeks. Now it has started to see me whenever I fall into a sleep. I was walking and came closer to the Southern Red Oak tree. I was waiting and covering myself behind the large tree expecting to see the white woman and the wolf.

I saw the white color figured woman and the wolf speaking to each other. Was she the same figure I saw at the library? She and the wolf spoke for few times and I saw she leaned towards the wolf. I was not clear about what they said, but suddenly the wolf turned and looked at me.

His eyes were clear this time! I have seen them. I have seen those dark brown and grey pupils somewhere! The wolf howled and looked at me again!

Yes, those pair of eyes! I know them!

Those were the Alpha's eyes!
