CHAPTER 04 – The first encounter
Tevena's POV
My eyes widened and blood drained from my body when he pointed to the large library. How can a person be this rude? This is not a punishment, this is torture!
"The entire library?!" I asked in a low tone looking at the huge, tall messy racks.
"Yes, is there any problem?" He asked with a wicked smile on his face.
He was mercilessly asking to clean the entire library.
"B..ut Alpha, this is too much for a day. I can't do this within the day. Give me something else" I turned to him slightly bowing. My courage ran away from the library door and I had already accepted the loss in the game.
"No, I want you to know the weight of your accusation was intolerable for me like this library. Next time you will keep this in mind and will learn a lesson" His firm voice slightly echoed in the library.
He is so rude. Why am I being treated like this for a simple thing I said? And I didn't say anything wrong. I said what every human was experiencing in the school. This is so unfair!
Cursing by my mind and already feeling exhausted I slowly walked toward the first tall rack.
"The ladder is there!" I was startled by his voice. I thought he left the library. He pointed towards a wooden ladder located in a dark corner of the room. I walked there and pulled the ladder towards me. It was too heavy and didn't move for a single inch. I pulled again and again, but nothing happened.
Dear moon goddess, if I can't move this ladder then how can I clean these tall racks? I was hitting my forehead lightly on the ladder when a pair of hands moved from behind and pulled the ladder.
It was him! The Alpha.
"It's too heavy!" I said without looking at him.
"Yes, you will keep in mind that the accusation you made was also heavy like this" he pulled the ladder closer to the first rack.
Why does he need to keep reminding me about yesterday?
"How can I pull the ladder to clean all the racks? It's too heavy and I can't..." I said in a lower tone.
"Ah, I thought you were strong like your words," He said in a mocking tone.
"Clean the spaces where you can reach and I will come in the afternoon, so you can clean the upper parts of the racks." He said and turned to go.
"How about I do the lower parts and you can ask for someone else to clean the higher parts" I wanted to finish this and run from this place as soon as possible.
"Oh, now you want to make a deal with me gi...Tevena? Punishment is punishment. Do your work, lunch will be provided with water and there are no windows or doors for you to run, so the only door is the main door. I will keep it open, make sure not to shut it" He was about to say the word Girl, but later he said my name. A line of victory smile drew on my lips when I heard him saying my name.
He left the room and I quickly put a chair on the door so it won't shut. I started to walk around the library to see how huge it was. I wasn't a bookworm, but I love to read books to some extent. It helps us to travel to places where we can't go physically and change our bad moods into a good one.
The racks and the books were covered with clouds of dust I turned a few pages and coughed a little. The illumination and the ventilation were poor in the room.
How can someone read here? Besides, when I look around I don't think that someone was here for a long time.
I saw the AC and looked for a remote, but I saw that it was unplugged and I guess it was also covered with cobwebs inside of it.
"Don't waste your time Tevena. You need to finish this within the day" I took a deep breath and stretched my back.
I started to take the books one by one away from the racks and took a piece of cloth to remove the dust. With sneezing and getting my palms rough with the clouds of dust on the books and the shelves I continued my punishment.
I don't understand why Dad makes an apology for Alpha. I put myself in trouble and I didn't expect Dad to do the apology. I was here because I didn't need to drag this out and make Alpha a personal enemy of me or my family.
Time moves fast and I wiped sweat beads popped on my forehead and I was feeling thirsty. I gulped the dry saliva and tried my best to not to think about drinking water.
"Oh, so you are the one here!" I was startled to hear the voice of Hattie and the books in my hands fell.
"What are you doing here?" I saw that she had a large bottle of water in her hands and my gaze focused on it licking my lips.
When did she start to become too kind towards me?
"I should be the one asking that question. What are you doing here?" she folded her arms.
"I....Nothing. I was cleaning the bookshelves in the library. You have such a big and nice library. Read the books, maybe you get a brain!" I didn't want to be involved in fights with her. I hate her, I hate to see her and hear her voice.
"You are an ungrateful human Tevena. I came here because my brother asked to give you this" She turned to go and I focused back on my work.
"This will be useful for you!" She giggled wickedly and shut the door of the library with a loud bang leaving me in the dark.
"No, no. wait. Don't shut the door!" I screamed and started to bang on the door. I struggled with the door lock, but I guess she locked it from outside.
The darkness started to soon swallow me. Darkness was the most afraid thing in the world for me. The tall shelves and the books started to look like monsters to me. I started to breathe faster little by little and the shelves in the library were looking at me to swallow me anytime.
I started to feel that I was choking. My legs were not supporting me anymore. I felt that I was gonna collapse any time soon.
No,no Tevena. You can't fall. Stay still. No one knows that you are locked inside. I started to pump the courage to my blood.
"Help, please. Anyone there? I need help" I started to do what I didn't do when I was in trouble. Scream! Ask for help!
Can anyone hear me? Is this soundproof? I yelled for help and banged on the door.
"Help me. I am locked inside!" I regretted the yesterday. Because of that, I am in this trouble.
Suddenly a weak light started coming towards me from a corner of the library and I started to hear a faint voice saying that I needed to fall into a deep sleep.
What? No way? Why should I? I should stay awake with my eyes wide open. I can't black out in this library, especially not under the Alpha's roof.
The weak light started to sore into a bright light and now it took the shape of a human!
"Tevena, if you need to survive you need to shut your eyes, my daughter!" That's the last words I heard before I was swallowed by the darkness and I heard a loud bang the library door open.
