Chapter 6 LOST

EPISODE SIX

"Where's your tag?" She asked." I misplaced it a while ago ma." I answered. The room is getting tense already. " Why was it found in Paige's closet? "She asked. " I have no idea of how it got there ma." I answered honestly. " Well, someone said she saw you entering the closet and another student also testified that she saw this coming out of the closet when everyone was at the hall ", the principal said. " Ma, that's not true, the only time I went to Paige's closet was when she was crying about her torn outfits." She is my best friend, I would never do such a thing to her ma". I said defensively.

"We have evidence Miss Martina, which is your paper tag and we have two witnesses so there's nothing I can do. You are hereby disqualified from the competition since you damaged your opponent outfits to prevent her from winning. You can leave my office" , she said as she pointed to the door

I felt shattered and heartbroken, I don't know anything about the incident, but no one wants to believe me. I lost my best friend, the contest and even the principal's trust. How do I even defend myself. Why would Susan bear false witness against me? I put my head on my table and sobbed. " Hey pretty, what's with the sad face, are you okay?" . I looked up and saw Louis staring at me worriedly. I tried to maintain my composure but I failed. I broke down completely and poured out my sorrows and pains to him. " It's fine, don't worry, the perpetrators are just jealous of you" he consoled as he hugged me. I felt so relieved, I really needed to someone to talk to. " Thanks Louis, I really appreciate" I said. We went out of the class and for that period of time, I forgot my pains.

The next day, the results were finally announced Susan came in first position, I came second but I wasn't entitled to my award and prize. It was given to another student since was already disqualified. I was pained deeply, I just couldn't believe it. "Hey, where's the prize, ohh I forgot, you were disqualified" Susan taunted after the assembly. I didn't say anything. I just walked past her. I wasn't going to allow anyone mock me for something I didn't do. I attended classes amidst all the stares and gossips. I need to be strong.

Due to the incident that happened, more students voted for Susan this the social prefect while I was elected as the assistant social prefect. Paige became the head girl and Louis became the king of Deluxe as he won the contest . I lost my best friend and school became boring to me. Though Louis was there for me, it just wasn't the same. Paige now hangs out with Susan, she must be deeply pained but only if she could hear me out

My mind drifted back to what happened this morning. I had that same scary nightmare again. But this time, when I was chased, I saw a hand stretching out to me but instead of me to grab it, I was hesitating, then everything became plain black. I woke up drenched in sweats again just like the other morning. I didn't tell my mum because I didn't want her too get scared for now reason. I didn't believe in dreams, there's no need for her to get all worked up. I wonder why I keep having that dream though.

I shook the incident off my mind. I have to find Susan, we have some works to do together. I found her in the cafeteria chatting with her friends, Paige was also there. I made eye contact with her, there's no reason for me to avoid her gaze since I didn't do anything wrong. "Susan, we have some works to do, can we meet in the library during break tomorrow? "I asked her. " And why should you be the one telling me what to do?" She snapped. "Look Susan, I am just doing my job, since you don't know what this do without being told, I have to take it upon myself to tell you" I fired back. I could see Paige staring at me coldly. I smiled at her but she hissed. Susan scoffed and turned her back to me. I didn't have her time so I walked out. Susan and I have been enemies since fifth grade. She gets jealous of me for no reason and has been a very big bully. She is involved in a lot of bad acts but she is very good in covering her tracks. Well, it's her life. I just have to do this work all by myself.

I got home, treated myself to a nice lunch of rice and plantain and slept off like a baby. I woke up later in the evening at 6:05 but my mum wasn't back yet. She doesn't usually come home late except if there's something off at work. I did my assignment and played with my phone a little bit to pass time. I called her but she didn't pick up, maybe she's busy at work. It was getting dark already and mum isn't back yet, I was getting worried already. I decided to make dinner. By the time I finished making the food, it was already 8: 10. Just as I was about to call her again, I heard a honk outside. I checked outside, she's back. She entered they living room looking so tired and stressed out. "Mum, what happened, are you okay? " I asked worriedly as I gave her a glass of water. She sat on the chair and didn't answer me. I gave her some time before asking again. " Mum, what happened? " I asked. " Rose it's been terminated"she said holding my hands as her eyes got teary.
