Chapter 5 FRIENDSHIP ON THE LINE

" Oh my goodness, who could have done this to me, why? Why? I will not take this lightly, never" As I walked down there passage, I heard these statements. Who is screaming like that and why? I walked to the closet where the voice was coming from, only for me to see my best friend, Paige crying with torn dresses in her hands. "Paige, what's going on, are you okay? I asked worriedly. "Now I understand, I fully get it", Paige said as she looked at me wickedly. "Paige what are you saying, come on, what's going on here?" I said to her. "Just because I qualified for the next stage, you decided to ruin my plans and sabotage everything for me, I was warned but I never knew you could do this to me, Rose, why? Paige cried m I don't understand what's she's saying at all. Sabotage? Plans? What's she insinuating? " Do you think I would not find out, you are my best friend, Roseline, why would you decide to do something like this to me? You should have just told me that you were jealous of me, maybe I would have understood but no, you decided that ruining my outfits, my makeup stuffs, my shoes, everything is the best right? Well, don't worry, you will be rewarded accordingly" Paige cried as she stormed out of the closet. Who could have done this? Who wants to turn my best friend against me! I didn't have time to ponder on my thoughts as the bell rang signifying the commencement of the last stage. As I was going to the hall, I bumped into one of my classmates. I almost fell, if not that she caught me. I thanked her and rushed down to the hall. If only I knew.

Paige didn't come for this stage as her outfits were ruined which means automatic disqualification. I was boiling with anger, what have I done to deserve this? Paige might never forgive me, she didn't even want to hear me out. Soon, the quiz started, I wasn't concentrating so I lost some points. I need to focus. I will deal with the issue later. But as much as it tried to concentrate, I couldn't. And soon, the quiz was over , it was time to announce the winners.

" I congratulate everyone who participated in this contest. We would announce the winners of the different stages before announcing the overall winners. Good the first stage, which was the three - themed fashion parade, in the third position is Alexa Williams, the second position does to Roseline Martins and the first position goes to none other than Salem Susan." The principal announced. I could see Susan smiling and rejoicing. Paige came to the hall, she was looking very sad. We all went to the podium to receive our awards and prizes.

"For the second stage, we were all dazzled

with them beautiful performance of the contestants. The third position goes to Salem. Susan, the second position goes to Paige Meyers and the first position goes to someone who deserves it, she dazzled is with her acting skills and it goes to no other person but Roseline Martins". She announced. I was so happy that I won this stage. I was also happy for Paige. If looks could kill, I would be dead by now, as Susan shot me a deadly glare. I know I performed well in the two stages but I want that confident in the third stage. The winners of the third stage were announced. I came third, Susan second and another girl, Lily Donalds came in the first position.

"Those are the results for the different stages. For the final announcements, they points of the every contestants that qualified for the third stage would be calculated. The first contestant, Pearl Nelson out of a hundred marks, had fifty marks in total which puts her in the tenth position. The ninth position goes to Meyers Paige, she dazzled us with her beautiful performance in the first two stages which earned her a weighty point of fifty five. But unfortunately, she didn't participate in the third round. " The principal announced. She paused as she listened to her earpiece.

I was just informed that a student's outfit was ruined which did not give her the chance to participate in the final stage of the competition. The paper tag of another contestant was found in the victim's closet. Due to this, the announcement of the final results would be out on hold as there's need for investigation ". The principal concluded.

I checked my dress for my paper tag but it wasn't there. How did I lose it? Hope it's not what I'm thinking? No, it can't be, let me just check around, it would be somewhere close. I searched and searched but I couldn't find it. I remembered the girl I bumped into when I was rushing to the hall. Maybe it fell when I hit her. I hurried to check if that's where the paper tag fell to but I couldn't find it there "Rose, the principal sent me too call you". Favour a classmate of mine said to me. "Why?" I asked. "And how am I supposed to know that",she snapped as she walked away. My classmates can be so rude. I am used to it anyways but that's the least of my problems right now. I have to find my paper tag but first, let me head to the principal's office

I got to the principal's office only for me too meet Paige, Susan and some teachers there. Isn't that my paper tag on the table, no, no, it can't be, how? "Welcome Miss Martina, have your seat". The principal said calmly. "Where's your tag?" She asked." I misplaced it a while ago ma." I answered. The room is getting tense already. " Why was it found in Paige's closet? "She asked.
