Chapter 8 Dinner

When Silvia returned from her pack, she met Theodore waiting for her.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him when she got close.

"Good afternoon to you too," He rolled his eyes. "Come with me."

Silvia was in a bad mood after seeing the devastation of her pack. She wanted nothing more than to slaughter the rogues that did this but they were already dead. They were killed while she was in a coma. She was angry.

Right now, she wanted to be alone.

"I am not going anywhere with you. My pack needs me."

"No, they don't. They will do fine without you." Theodore motioned to the pack members who were still busy working. He then turned back to face Silvia, "Just come with me."

Silvia sighed before going with him. "Where are we going?"

"To meet my parents,"

"What?" Silvia halted and backed away from him. "Why do I need to meet them?"

Theodore frowned at her demeanour. "Because I said so and we are mates."

"I thought you didn't want us to be mates."

"Well, I don't exactly have a choice. My parents know about you after our display that night and they want to meet you now." He reached for her hand but Silvia brushed him off.

"No."

Theodore sighed into his palm, "Why are you being so difficult?"

Silvia spotted an exasperated look on her face. "I'm being difficult? Me? You are the one who doesn't want to be mates and you don't have the decency to tell me why. Why don't you just reject me and get this all over with?"

Theodore opened his mouth, then closed it. The thought had crossed his mind but something was stopping him from going through with it.

"It's fine. If you don't want to see them now, you will meet them in the evening since your pack will be having dinner with ours."

Silvia raised her brow and crossed her arms. "Says who?"

"Says the Alpha. Seven thirty sharp. Don't be late." He turned and left without sparing her a second glance.

Silvia scoffed in disbelief. There was a dull ache in her chest and a little bit of disappointment too. This was not how she imagined her mate would be-repulsed by her.

After watching him disappear in the distance, she turned and walked back to the Packhouse to confront her brother.

"Joshua, are we staying here?" The new Packhouse was empty since everyone was outside helping out with construction.

"We don't have a choice. I don't like it either." Joshua was perched on the counter eating a bowl of cereal. He looked kind of distant like he was thinking about something.

Silvia sat opposite him, "When are we leaving?"

"Not anytime soon. Something came up," He finally made eye contact with her, "Why are you asking? It's not as if you are leaving Silver Moon."

Silvia pursed her lip. She had thought of it, if Theodore didn't want her when the time came for her Pack to leave, she would go with them. She would not punish herself.

"Did that boy do something? Is that why you don't want to stay? If he did, tell me. I will rip him apart." Joshua meant every word. No one was allowed to hurt the only family he had left.

Silvia finally smiled. "You can't kill the beta of the pack helping us."

"Try me."

"He did not do anything," She reassured him. He nodded and resumed eating his cereal. "What do you mean by something came up? Did you find out who orchestrated the attack? Because I know it wasn't Cynthia or any of those dumb rogues. It had to be someone else."

Not to mention the fire, the greatest mystery of all. But Silvia didn't say that. She was sure her brother was thinking about the same thing.

"You are right. It wasn't Cynthia. I am sure someone else is behind it," Joshua voiced with a grave look on his face. He opened his mouth and then closed it. How was he going to tell her about the prophecy? It still didn't make sense to him.

He continued, "When I know more, I will tell you. All of you."

Just then Selena walked in. She grinned when she saw Joshua. She rushed and hugged him from behind. "You were gone all morning."

"I am sorry. I had something important to take care of." He kissed her forehead.

Silvia stared at both of them with envy. Her brother's love for Selena was something everyone knew and admired.

Joshua was dumped with the responsibility of leading the pack at a very young age forcing him to grow up earlier than most children. He had to deal with the sudden loss of his parents alone and raise his younger sister all by himself. Silvia was only two then and didn't know what was happening.

After the attack, the pack was vulnerable as only a few adults were left. The remaining elders wanted the upcoming to be strong in case of another attack and trained them like crazy. They started training them at the tender age of five and tested different poisons on them to make them resistant.

Silvia was grateful they did what they did or else she would have been dead by now. Some might find the elder's method cruel but they had the pack's best interest at heart.

Joshua and Selena were best friends growing up. Nobody was really surprised when they turned out to be mates. Selena was there when Joshua was at his darkest point in life. She joined him to grieve for his parents and was there to encourage him when he felt overwhelmed by the load tossed on him. She was his light in the darkness. The only reason he didn't become a cold heartless monster.

Silvia scrunched up her nose in disgust when they started kissing. "Get a room."

They ignored her and kissed even more. She rolled her eyes and decided to leave the kitchen for them.

"We have dinner with Alpha Peter today. Be ready by seven." Joshua called out behind her.
