Selena and Bianca went after him. Connor although reluctant, could not disobey Joshua's command. He had no choice but to stay put.
"Oh, my goddess," Grace was almost paralyzed with fear. She clutched her chest as her heart beat loudly. That was supposed to be her.
"I told you it smelled bad," Rhea commented with a shrug.
Everyone gazed at the ten-year-old in fear. Some even backed away from her.
Peter slammed his hands on the table, startling everyone. His eyes had a golden hue which indicated his wolf was about to take control. He was mad.
"Nobody leaves this room until the person who tried to poison my mate is found. If you attempt to protest or fight, you will be sent to the dungeon immediately. Do you understand?" He growled, glaring at everybody.
"Yes, Alpha," Everyone settled back down. Some girls started clearing the table. Nobody was in the mood to eat after what they just witnessed.
Seer Olive cleared her throat as she woke up from her daze. She had seen many things in her life but this was the first that left her speechless.
She turned to her granddaughter. "Rhea, how did you know there was something wrong with the Luna's food?" She asked softly.
"I have told you already. It smelled bad. The whole pack smells strange." Rhea answered.
Seer Olive narrowed her eyes. "When did the pack start smelling strange?"
Rhea thought for a while. "Yesterday afternoon." she finally answered.
Seer Olive let out a hearty laugh before pinching Rhea's face gently. "Your gift has awakened and what a great gift it is indeed."
"W-what do you mean by that?" Grace asked.
"She is a rare one. Her gift is not common and honestly, I know only a little about it. One thing is for sure, her gift allows her to sense danger." Seer Olive explained.
"Does that mean she is not a Seer like you?"
"All Seers can't actually see visions. Some have other gifts too."
"Okay, we don't have time for this," Connor said standing up. His body was tense and he was controlling his urge you kill someone. "The person who tried to kill your Luna is still in this room. I think we should focus on that first."
He continued, facing Rhea, "Now kid, since you can sense danger, can you sense the person who did this?"
Rhea shook her head slowly.
"Okay, everyone come forward and give a detailed account of where you went and what you did today. Those in charge of kitchen duty should come last." Connor commanded but nobody moved. They were throwing side glances at Alpha Peter.
"This is my pack. I will do the investigation." Peter said, glaring at Connor.
"I don't care who is in charge of the investigation. One of them just hurt a member of my pack which makes it my responsibility to find out who the perpetrator is until my Alpha comes back. Now, they better start talking before I count to ten. One..."
Peter nodded. He invited them for dinner and Silvia got hurt in place of his mate. He had to comply. "The women should step forward first."
Meanwhile at the hospital,
'Doctor Maxwell!' Theodore called through the mind-link as he ran through the halls of the hospital looking left and right.
His wolf was anxious. He growled at everyone around them.
"Beta Theodore," Doctor Maxwell appeared, behind him was a group of nurses. He directed them to a room.
Theodore shifted into his human form and lifted Silvia to the bed. His nudity did not faze him.
"You have to help her. I think she drank poison." He explained.
Doctor Maxwell hummed before opening Silvia's mouth. His face turned serious. "No poison can do this. It looks acidic but I have never seen this kind of burn in my life." He pointed a touch in Silvia's throat. It was filled with bloody sores. Some parts of her lips were also burned. He silently prayed her vocal cord wasn't destroyed.
"The burn went all the way to her stomach. We have to stop any internal bleeding." He said and a nurse presented him with a tray of syringes and other tools. "Beta Theodore, you have to go and let us do our job."
"I am not leaving," Theodore said, his eyes dark green eyes were glowing which meant his wolf was in control.
"We can't help her if you are hovering around us. If you want her to get better, you will leave."
Theodore growled but Doctor Maxwell's stance was firm. He gave one last glance at Silvia before nodding.
"Thank you." Doctor Maxwell said and they started working.
Theodore was pacing anxiously outside. A nurse walked up to him and handed him a pair of clothes. It finally registered to him that he had been naked.
He was putting on the clothes when Joshua and the others arrived.
"How is she?" Joshua asked, his tone laced with worry as he gazed at Theodore.
"Doctor Maxwell is treating her."
Joshua sighed and leaned against the wall. "What was she thinking when she drank that damn soup?"
The rest did not say anything. They just sat and wordlessly waited for Doctor Maxwell to come out.
Theodore was able to calm his wolf after some time. He sighed and his shoulders slumped in exhaustion. No matter how much he tried to deny it, he and Silvia shared a bond. He felt her pain when she gulped down that soup. He felt every single thing.
His wolf wanted to rip the heart of whoever did this to their mate.
He couldn't fathom why anyone would want to hurt Grace. She had been nothing but nice to every member of this pack. So why?
Theodore suddenly sensed an intense gaze on him. He tilted his head to see the red-haired glaring at him. If he wasn't mistaken, her name should be Beatrice or Bianca. Either way, he didn't care.
He raised an eyebrow at her. "What?"
