Chapter 5 Rejection

Silvia opened her eyes slowly. She groaned at the sudden brightness around her. She noticed that she was in an unfamiliar room. From the smell of antiseptic, she figured it was a hospital. Memories of the previous night flooded her brain.

She found her mate!

She sat up on the bed and examined the room she was in. It was quite plain. There was a door that led outside of the room and a window that showed a great view of a garden. A couch was placed next to the window with a tea table.

She yawned. It was as if she was beaten with a whip. Her whole body ached but she was glad she wasn't dead.

She was about to yank the IV drip from her arm when the door opened and someone walked in.

"What do you think you are doing?" A growl interrupted her. She looked up to see her mate glaring at her from the door.

She slowly let go of the drip. "Nothing."

Silvia watched her mate's eyes glaze over. He was mind-linking someone. Probably the Doctor to tell him that she was awake.

Silvia's eyes skimmed through her mate. He had sandy brown hair that she wanted to run her hand through, enticing green that drew her in any time he gazed at her, pink thin lips that she could not wait to kiss.

"Take a picture. It will last longer," Theodore rolled his eyes at her before sitting on the couch.

Silvia frowned at his attitude. "Is something wrong?" She asked. She got a feeling that her mate didn't want to be near her and it stung.

Theodore brushed his hair out of his eyes, an action that seemed attractive to Silvia. He licked his lower lips before replying coldly, "Nothing."

Silvia didn't believe him but she dropped the subject. 'We just met. He is probably just nervous.' she thought.

Theodore discreetly examined Silvia from the couch. His wolf was at peace now that their mate had woken up. He looked her up and down trying to find any signs of discomfort but didn't find any. He sighed and averted his gaze.

"Where am I?" Silvia asked.

"The Pack hospital. You lost a lot of blood and you were poisoned with wolfbane and silver but you managed to pull through." Theodore's face was blank as he spoke. He didn't even look at Silvia which irritated her. Why was he treating her like a stranger?

Mate or not, she was about to give him a piece of her mind when the door opened and a Doctor came in, breaking the tension.

The Doctor was a tall middle-aged man with traces of grey on his dark hair. He had a soft smile on his lips.

"You are one strong wolf. With the amount of poison in your blood, I estimated you would be out for about three weeks," He said as he approached her bed.

Silvia poofed her chest up in pride at the compliment.

"How long was I out?"

"A week," The doctor answered, taking her vitals.

"A week?!" Silvia jolted up. She thought it had been only a night. What happened to her pack? Was her brother okay?

"Calm down. Everything is fine." The doctor reassured her. It was as if he read her mind.

"Can I leave now, doctor..."

"Maxwell, Doctor Maxwell. And yes, by some miracle, you seem fine." Doctor Maxwell chuckled. He nodded at Theodore before taking his leave.

It was not a miracle though. She had alpha blood running through her veins coupled with the numerous poison tests she had undergone. It was part of the pack training.

"Luna Selena brought you some clothes a few days ago." Theodore pointed at the pile of clothes beside him on the couch. She had not noticed it before. "Bathroom is right there." He pointed at a white door in the room. Another thing she hadn't noticed before.

Silvia nodded and tried to stand up but her legs wobbled. Theodore rushed to her side. When their hands touched, they both felt a spark. Electricity went down their bodies.

Silvia smiled.

Mate.

Theodore clenched his teeth as he helped Silvia to the bathroom and shut the door behind her. He having an internal battle with his wolf and he needed to cool off.

Silvia stared at her reflection in the mirror. She looked fine for someone who almost died. She was properly taken care of. She quickly put on the clothes Selena had prepared for her. A shirt and trousers.

Theodore was staring into space when she walked out. Another mind-link. Worry settled on his face when he was done. Something was wrong.

"Did something happen?" She asked hastily.

"We are having a meeting. I will take you to the others." He said and beckoned to her to follow him. She did.

"What others?" Silvia sounded confused.

"Your pack members," He answered.

"My Pack members are here? Why? What happened?" They were outside the hospital now. Theodore was leading her somewhere.

Theodore halted and turned to her. "Your Pack was burned to the ground. There is nothing left."

Silvia scoffed in disbelief. That was not possible. "That is impossible. I'm sure the warriors put out the fire."

Theodore resumed his trek. They walked past other wolves who bowed their neck at them. "Beta." They greeted.

Silvia was shocked. Her mate was the Beta? No wonder he looked powerful. Her wolf puffed with pride.

"I don't have time to explain to you." He growled, taking Silvia by surprise.

"What is wrong with you?" Silvia stopped walking. She crossed her arms and glared at him. She didn't do anything to deserve this attitude from him. "Why are treating me like an enemy? We are mates."

"I know we are mates," Theodore spat at her face. "But I don't need you. You can't just barge into my life and start craving for my attention."

Sylvia stared at him, dumbstruck, "Are you rejecting me? You can't do that."

"I can and I will... eventually." He didn't spare her a second glance and continued walking.

"Why? Did I do something wrong?" He ignored her.

Silvia could only follow wordlessly.

She was starting to wonder if all the emotions she saw in his eyes that night were illusions. He cried for her that night and now he was saying he didn't want? He was lying.

Theodore led her to a more secluded part of the park. The Silver Moon Pack was quite large. Much larger than hers. They had a wide expanse of land. Most of which laid bare.

"We are here," He said. She found the sight before her unbelievable. It was her pack members. Pups were running around, chasing each other while the adults were building?

"What is going on?" Silvia exclaimed. She had a lot of questions. She turned to Theodore but he ignored her.

"I have to go." He said before he turned and left.

Silvia stared at his retreating back, annoyed. What did she do to anger the Moon goddess that she had to pair her up with a jerk?

"Silvia," She turned and saw Selena running towards her. "Oh, my moon goddesses, you are awake." Selena pulled her into a hug.

"What is going on?" Silvia pleaded for answers.

Selena mustered a sad smile. "Let's go. We have a lot to talk about."

They weaved through the pack members. The whole place looked like a construction site. Men were hammering and screwing pieces of wood together. Building.

Selena led her to the only decent building in the place. "This is our temporary packhouse."

Silvia sighed Bianca first, her ginger-head best friend. She was sitting on a stool in the kitchen, leaning against the Island. Next to her was Connor, the beta, and his mate, Riley, Silvia's friend.

"Silvia, you are alive!" Connor smirked as Silvia approached. Riley smacked him in the head.

"Don't mind him. You got us worried." Riley pulled Silvia into a bone-crushing hug. Riley was a hugger.

Bianca only threw a smile in her direction. The ginger-head looked tired. Exhausted. It was so unlike her. The Bianca Silvia knew was always lively and jumping around.

"I'm so confused. What is going on here?" Everyone's smile dropped at her question. The room turned gloomy.

Selena's sigh broke the silence. "Our pack got burned down to the ground. There is nothing left."

Silvia refused to believe it. What nonsense was everyone sprouting?

"What do you mean it got burnt down? And what are we doing in Silver Moon?"

"I still can't believe it myself," Selena murmured. Her gaze was laced in dismay. "The Silver Moon Park offered us a place to stay until we find new land."

Silvia took a seat as her legs became weak. This wasn't a joke. They were serious and she had slept all through everything. No wonder everyone was sullen.

"My brother agreed to this?" It's impossible for two parks with two Alpha's to coexist in one land. A fight for dominance must ensue.

"We didn't have much of a choice," Connor spoke up. He ran his fingers through his hair in irritation. He didn't like their situation either.

They were the strongest and the most prideful park in the city and some measly rogues managed to bring them down to this state. It was utterly embarrassing.

"Can I go see it? I want to see the Pack lands," Silvia said. They all exchanged glances.

"I am not going," Riley murmured as she bowed her head. She did not want to see the devastation again. She had seen enough already.

Selena nodded and glanced at Bianca who had been quiet.

"I will go. I want to see my father,"

"It's settled then. Connor, go with Silvia and Bianca."

"Yes, Luna," Connor answered. He kissed Riley goodbye before walking out of the pack house with Silvia and Bianca right behind him.

They started running when they entered into the woods. They didn't shift into their wolf. They ran in their human form. Just like them, their wolves were trained to kill. They only shifted in dire situations when they felt threatened.
