Chapter 2 Your Performance Was Subpar

Charles and Sabrina had only met a few times before.

On the occasions they did meet, she was always dutifully at Liam's side, acting like a docile girlfriend. This sweetness was starkly different from the irritation now etched on her face.

When Sabrina heard Charles' words, a nameless anger flared within her. "Spite him? Liam didn't deserve it," she spat, her voice laden with scorn.

In the past, Sabrina's mentions of Liam were filled with admiration and love. Charles found her current bitterness and scorn unexpected.

Sabrina, oblivious to Charles's thoughts, was certain she wasn't reckless enough to use Charles to spite Liam, that deceiver.

Charles, known for his ruthlessness, wasn't someone to trifle with. Using him for revenge against Liam was akin to signing her own demise.

Moreover, Charles' heart belonged to another, and Sabrina had no desire to entangle herself in that complexity.

Her ending up in Charles' bed was nothing but a fluke.

Reflecting on their fervent night together, a deep sense of bitterness surged in Sabrina.

She had lost her virginity, and now faced misunderstanding.

"Sabrina, what a fool you are," she chastised herself.

Eventually, Sabrina looked up, her eyes brimming with tears she struggled to hold back.

"What occurred last night was an accident. Liam and I are done, and I wouldn't use you to retaliate against him. I'm not that senseless, am I?"

Numerous women aspired to join the Wilson family, but Sabrina had lost all such desires.

Revenge?

Absurd!

She was merely grappling with her own experiences.

Raised by her grandmother in the countryside, Sabrina, the true White, contrasted sharply with Rylie, her adopted sister who had taken her place and been spoiled by her parents.

Since Sabrina returned to the White family, only her grandmother and Liam, her childhood betrothed, had shown her any kindness.

Liam was like a lifeline to a drowning Sabrina-her only salvation.

But finding Liam with Rylie shattered her last vestige of hope.

"I don't give a damn about your history with Liam, but let's keep last night private. After all, I'm Liam's uncle."

Charles maintained a stern look, his mature allure apparent yet distant.

Sabrina sniffled, feeling the implicit warning in his words.

Liam's uncle? But they had been intimate just last night.

She scorned the thought.

Men were nothing but beasts in disguise!

Determined to disrupt his composed facade, Sabrina met his gaze unflinchingly.

"Anything else?" Charles' frown deepened.

Sabrina, silent at first, rummaged in her pocket and eventually threw a ten-dollar bill before Charles.

"You're right, last night should remain a secret. But you're quite out of practice, aren't you? Last night was mediocre at best. A novice could have done better. Frankly, I was left unsatisfied. Here's ten dollars; I'm being generous."

The bill landed softly before him.

Charles' face turned dark, his usual poise crumbling.

"Sabrina White!"

As Sabrina walked away, Charles' angry voice followed her. "Let me remind you of something. Your body last night was far more revealing than your words."

Sabrina paused briefly, then left, a mix of anger and shame swirling within her.

Charles' eyes, usually cold, flickered with annoyance at the sight of the ten-dollar bill.

Noticing a bloodstain on the bed sheet, his eyes momentarily betrayed emotion, then returned to their usual calm.
