Chapter 9 He Used Connections

Tommy still had some bruises on his face, courtesy of the man standing before him. There was a murderous intensity lingering in his gaze.

After Noah caused him trouble not only once, but twice, there was no way that he would let Noah off the hook that easily.

He snorted disdainfully and pointed to the plump middle-aged man beside him.

"Do you know who he is? He's Mr. Aidan Padilla!" he exclaimed. "He's the Deputy Director of Commerce in Bayhedge!"

As soon as he mentioned this person's title, Julian and the others turned pale in fright.

The fact that they got in using Noah's connections was now exposed to a big shot. In their hearts, they were certain that they would receive some sort of punishment.

However, when Noah saw the reaction on the faces of Julian and others, he couldn't help but laugh. "Deputy Director of Commerce? Do you think he's that powerful?"

Tommy's eyes burned with cruelty. With gnashed teeth, he turned to Aidan and cried, "Mr. Padilla! Did you hear what he just said? This guy got in through connections. If the God of War finds out about this, we will surely incur his wrath!"

Aidan also frowned and felt annoyed when he heard what Noah had said.

"You brat! This is your chance. Come with me to the room upstairs. We'll have a good talk about this!"

It seemed that he didn't know that Noah was actually the God of War.

Because he had a lower official position, he didn't have the chance to meet Noah.

With an expression dripping with arrogance, Aidan pointed at Noah and chided, "Your behavior is really despicable, you know?"

The Fernandez family had business dealings with Aidan, and he was able to quickly discern Tommy's dislike for Noah.

Although Aidan said that he wanted to have a talk with Noah, in truth, his intention was to take him up to his room alone and beat him up.

"Noah! Don't go!" Charlotte pleaded urgently.

Of course, as God of War, Noah knew exactly what Aidan intended to do.

With a reassuring smile, he replied, "Don't worry. I'll be back soon!"

With that, Noah walked towards Aidan.

"You've made a sensible choice," Aidan said with a wicked grin. "Come with me!"

He then put on a serious face as he led Noah into a room.

As soon as the two entered the room, Noah acted as though Aidan wasn't there. He took out his phone and dialed a number.

"Hudson, I'm in a room downstairs at the banquet hall. Bring people over to find me now."

After saying that, Noah hung up the phone.

"Are you scared now? Calling people for help, are you? Well, it's too late for that!"

Aidan finally revealed his true colors. There was an evil look in his eyes, and his tone showed no attempt to hide his arrogance.

"Today is the God of War's welcome banquet! Who do you think will come here and help you?"

Aiden patted his beer belly as he lifted his foot, his face contorted in disdain. "Kneel and clean my shoes. This is your punishment for disrespecting me!"

Noah simply looked at Aidan and sneered, "What's next? You're going to help that guy Tommy get his revenge?"

"And what if I do? You're all talk! If you don't behave, I'll have people cripple both your hands and feet. The only way you'll make it out of this place is through a stretcher going to the hospital!"

Noah was unfazed by this threat. Instead, his eyes became colder. It seemed that this corrupt official already had a history when it came to bullying.

"So is this how you abuse your power? Do you really think there will be no consequences for your actions?" Noah asked Aidan.

In response, Aidan chuckled. "In Bayhedge, I call the shots. What are you waiting for? Get on your knees!"

Just then, someone began banging on the door.

The sound was so loud that it made Aidan frown.

"Who is it?" Aidan shouted. Having no idea who it might be, he approached the door and opened it.

As soon as he did, Javier Frye, the secretary from the government affairs center, burst into the room.

The very sight of him made Aidan freeze. Still, he quickly recovered his wits and bowed to greet him.

"M-Mr. Frye, what are you doing here?"

Javier didn't even look at him. Instead, he turned his attention to Noah and greeted him with utmost respect, "Mr. Reed! We're here!"

All of a sudden, Aidan's eyes widened in shock. His mouth was agape, and although he tried to utter something, the words never materialized in his throat.

But this wasn't the end. After a while, a group of people entered the room.

They were all high-ranking officials whose status far surpassed Aidan's.

There were many top officials in Bayhedge who came here. Even the Mayor himself was present.

As soon as these dignitaries saw Noah, they all bowed in respect.

Aidan's body was trembling uncontrollably. His mind had shut down, and the light in his eyes had been dimmed by fear.

The only thought his mind could accommodate was this: Who was Noah? Why did he command such high respect from these high-ranking officials?
