Chapter 8 Who Can't Get In

Noah's confident strut drew everyone's attention.

The onlookers began to break into whispers and murmurs.

Clara and Kane exchanged a brief glance, mirroring each other's doubt and disdain.

"Is he bluffing? I can't wait to see him get kicked out later!" Kane said as he crossed his arms, his face dripping with sarcasm.

All eyes were on Noah and Charlotte as they walked towards the banquet hall.

Just before they could enter, the security guards stationed at the entrance intercepted them.

"I knew it! That punk doesn't have an invitation! Wait, what? But... But this can't be!"

Kane's eyes widened after realizing what had just happened.

To everyone's surprise, the security guards saluted and allowed Noah to enter the banquet hall.

Why? Because Noah was the God of War!

The security guards assigned to keep the order of the event were soldiers under Noah's command.

The members of the Pierce family couldn't believe how the guards saluted Noah. Their mouths were agape, their eyes almost popping out of their sockets.

"He... He actually went in without an invitation?"

The look of arrogance on Clara's face was soon replaced with shock and disbelief.

Not a single member of the security team stopped Noah and Charlotte from entering the banquet hall.

"Oh my god! Charlotte wasn't lying to us! She really did receive an invitation call!" Caroline exclaimed with joy. "Dad! Mom! Don't just stand there like fools! Let's catch up with them!"

After saying that, Caroline trotted towards the banquet hall with her chin up, while Julian and Hazel behind her followed her lead.

"Charlotte is my sister, and those two behind us are with us. Let us through!" Caroline demanded. After proclaiming their relationship with Charlotte, the three of them were granted swift passage through the entrance.

"Damn it! This is unacceptable! I need to know what's going on!"

With gritted teeth, Kane approached one of the guards at the door and pointed at Noah.

"He doesn't even have an invitation!" he shouted indignantly. "How could you let him in!"

The guard stared coldly at Kane and replied, "These are orders from above me. Charlotte and her family are specially invited guests. They don't need an invitation to attend the banquet."

Hearing the words "specially invited guests", Kane's jaw almost fell to the floor.

He couldn't believe that Charlotte's family was considered special guests for this occasion!

"I bet you didn't expect that, did you? I might not have an invitation, but I still managed to get in!" Noah boasted as the corner of his lips tugged into a small smile. "You keep bringing up how you have to have an invitation to get in. What if you can't come in even if you have one?"

There was a subtle look of menace gleaming in Noah's eyes, which made Kane feel panicked for reasons he couldn't point out.

"N-Nonsense!" Kane shouted, his face turning red. "How could I possibly not get in?"

At this point, he pulled out a beautifully crafted invitation from his pocket.

"Here. Take a good look. This is the invitation! Get out of my way. I'm going in!"

With the invitation in his hand, Kane walked straight to the banquet hall, but before he could enter, the guards blocked his way.

"You can't go in!" one of them declared.

"Why? Are you blind? Can't you see the invitation in my hand?" Kane protested in frustration.

With a sneer, the guard made up a reason on the spot. "Because your invitation is fake!"

In the guard's mind, he thought of these people as those who had dared to offend the God of War. Did they really think they could still enter? They must be dreaming!

"What?" Kane's eyes widened, his mind unable to process what was happening. "But that's impossible! This invitation was sent by government officials..."

"Stop lying! How dare you try to sneak in with a fake invitation!"

The guard's expression turned icy as he snatched the invitation from Kane's hand and tore it into pieces. He then whipped out his gun and pointed it at Kane.

"Get out of my sight, or suffer the consequences!"

In an instant, Kane's face turned pale with fear.

On the side, Clara's eyes widened. She pursed her lips and said nothing, afraid that whatever she might say would just make things worse.

With many high-ranking officials present in the God of War's banquet tonight, the Pierce family couldn't afford to make a scene. Thus, with no other choice, they left.

Once they were inside the banquet hall, Charlotte's family couldn't help but be curious.

Why was Noah so sure they didn't need an invitation?

The four of them all stared at Noah with unblinking eyes.

It was Charlotte who broke the silence and asked, "Noah, how were you so certain that we could enter without an invitation? Did you arrange this in advance?"

"Sort of," Noah replied, flashing a faint smile at her. This was just the beginning of what was to come.

Throughout Doriland, anyone who saw him would bow their heads and pay him respect.

However, he decided not to say his thoughts out loud for the time being.

He knew that if he did so now, Charlotte's family wouldn't believe him, and he didn't want to come across as boastful.

He wanted to see the look of shock on their faces when he showed up with high-ranking government officials.

"I've been serving on the border for the past four years, and those guards are actually my comrades," Noah casually explained to them while leaving out the truth. "So, they helped me teach Kane a lesson."

"I knew it! I knew you didn't have that capability! It turns out that you only got in because of your connections!" Hazel scolded, her eyes filled both with disappointment and contempt.

She thought that Noah had achieved something extraordinary during the four years he had been absent.

But when she thought about his explanation, it actually made a lot of sense.

In her eyes, that was all that Noah was capable of.

Meanwhile, Tommy passed by with a middle-aged man and happened to overhear Hazel's complaint.

In an instant, his expression turned sinister.

"Is that how you got in, huh? Then you're all doomed!" he shouted.
