Chapter 3 Felix Meets

Felix while looking for a job, kept house for his elder brother. He would get things from the shop or the market, cook for his brother especially when Peter's girlfriend was not around. On one such ocassion, he went into a supermarket to get some groceries and stopped short. An angel was selling at the supermart. She was a very young girl, possibly fifteen or sixteen. Very fair in complexion, plump with the right curves. Though not too tall, just of average height. Mesmerising eyes that promised unimaginable sensual pleasure. Her sex appeal was breathtaking.

Felix took one look at her and fell flat. She was an innocent. She was not even aware of the effect she had on men because being experienced, Felix knew very few men could resist this rare combination of innocence and sentuality. He waited till the buyers thinned out then got the items he needed and went to her to cost it and give him the bill. When he was sure he had her to himself,'I am Felix, and I am sure your name is Beauty' Good day sir, the name is Mercy but thanks for the compliment. This is your bill.' Felix quickly paid to get that hurdle out of the way. Mercy herself found herself staring. She could not help herself. The man was really very handsome and charming. He reminded her of someone but it couldn't be. That person had looked a bit older. It was an older version of the person facing her but not quite as handsome as this young nan. She was fascinated but she quickly hid her feelings behind an expressionless face. ' Mercy, I wish to ask a favour of you'. 'And what may that be?' ' I want you to have mercy on me.' 'For what are you asking my mercy?' 'she asked. 'For your time'. He said. They both laughed and the atmosphere lightened up. They got to talking as though they had known each other for a long time. Mercy considered this with a smile she was always a business minded, no nonsense person but she had stared at this man as though her life depended on it and had even got into a discussion with him not wanting shoppers to disturb their discussion. She who would want to sell as much as she possibly could was wishes sales would halt a little so she could spend more time with this Felix guy. What has come over me for goodness sake and he has not even made his intentions clear. 'Must he have an intention to talk to you? She asked herself 'They all do she reasoned but I hope that he is not takimg the ease with which I started talking to him as a sign that I am a loose girl and have already accepted him even before he asked'.

'You know you have not said anything to me ' she said 'Yes we have been surrounded by shoppers and had not had the time and I felt I should say what I had in mind in a more private setting'. I am not taking you for granted but right now , time has really flown and I need to get these things home and get something ready for my elder brother he will soon be back'.

Felix told her that he would be back and speak to her in greater detail concerning what he had in mind. When he got home, he quickly prepared the things so his elder brother could have something to eat, then he made the apartment presentable after serving his brother when Peter got back, he went out under the pretense of taking a stroll. He had not been able to take his heart and mind of Mercy since he met and spoke to her today. What a girl. And she was not pretentious like some girls were. He remembered how she boldly reminded him of the fact that he had not made his intentions known to her. He also recalled how he had told himself mentally the fist instance that he laid eyes on Mercy that he had got to his last bus stop of searching for the one. Because he had found the woman of his dreams. He wondered how he knew that she was the only one for him . He could not say for sure but he just got a gut feeling about it and he was not about to reason it but just to grab this second chance fate was giving him at love. Felix went back to the store to keep his promise to Mercy and himself. 'Hi, Beauty'

'Hello handsome', and they both burst out laughing. The reason for the laughter was not known to either of them but they both were happy that they had met again. Mercy had been so afraid that he would not come back and she won't have the chance at beholding his arresting face and aura again but thank goodness her fears had been unfounded. The happiness at seeing each other again was such that it was shining through their faces. Felix himself had been impatient for his brother to come back home so he could come and see this wonder heaven had thrown his way. After chatting for some time with pauses in their discussions as Mercy attended the shoppers, Felix came straight to the point. 'Mercy, from the first instant I met you, I knew that I had arrived home. I just felt fulfilled and hence I want to make you mine'.'

'By yours you mean?',she asked

''I want you to be my lover.'. Felix clarified.

Mercy was shocked. In all the time men and boys alike had made passes at her,none had been forthright enough to ask her to be their lover. It had been to be their pet, their girlfriend or any such thing but the guts with which this young man had blurted out the word 'lover' shocked and excited her. She was dumbfounded but she reasoned that she asked for it when she asked him to make his intentions known to her.

'Why are you so silent? You have not said anything', but Before she could respond, a customer came and she had to attend her. When she was through with that she said,' I will have to think about it before I can give you my answer'.'What time do you need and what do you want to think about?' Felix quarried' You either want me or you don't. In which case your answer can either be yes or no. Tell me your answer now. I want to know my fate'. Mercy was even more speeches and though she already had her answer before he even asked, she did not want to appear to eager but this altimatum rather than make her feel insulted, actually pleased her and she decided to make her own destiny and so replied.'Yes let us be friends, we will see how it goes from there'
