Chapter 10 Are You Still....

Felix started seeing Mercy and would visit her any chance he got. Whenever he invited her over, she would give one excuse after the other. Felix realised she was not ready to visit him or take their relationship further. So far they were just friends on a platonic level. Even though Felix accepted this because he would rather have this than nothing, he still craved more from her. Seeing her every day and witnessing her beauty was beginning to get too much for him.

He itched to take her in his arms, whisper sweet nothings to her and make tender passionate love to her. He felt his hormones were running riot since he met Mercy. He was finding it increasingly difficult keeping his hands from touching her. He who had been able to control his desires and sexual appetite since the episode with Gift in the village was now losing it. He reasoned that it could be as a result of the fact that he had denied himself female companionship for long. On the other hand, it could be because he wanted to stake his claim on Mercy in such a way that she would desire no other man in her life but he.

On several ocassions ,Mercy had been undecided as to whether she should continue her friendship with Felix or not because she was getting more and more attracted to him and she was determined that come what may, she would only give herself to her husband on the night of her wedding. This had always been her resolution. She was not ready to give away her priced possession only for the recipient to turn around and jilt her bacause he had had his way with her. Such things had been known to happen and no matter how smitten she was, she refused to be a victim.

On several ocassions she had told Felix she wanted to call it quits since she was not ready for any sexual relationship and she didn't want to force him to endure celibacy for her sake or wait endlessly for her to be ready. Felix who would have none of that asked her,' Am I complaining?' ' I will wait for you for as long as you want me to. I will prove my love to you that way if you so desire . I love you for yourself and not just for your body and I can't afford to loss your friendship. There is no hurry. Take your time and I am ready whenexer you are.' This always made Mercy reconsider her decision to break up with Felix and they would continue where they left off. The first time this happened, Felix had asked, 'Are you a virgin?' To which Mercy replied,' Yes I am.'. Since then Felix had decided not to rush her. He was so glad about it that he told one of his aunt who had asked him about Mercy that he did not want to touch Mercy untill they were wed.

With gentle persuasion and care, Mercy started allowing Felix take some liberties with her. She would embrace him and when he dips his head, she would open up her mouth to receive him. The first time they kissed, it was paradise. It had happened spontaneously. Felix had come to see her as usual. They no longer meet only in her mother's supermarket but in Mercy's house since she had not yet made up her mind to visit him just yet. It was evening and Felix had just got back from work. He had started work with a manufacturing company. Though that was not the kind of work he wanted, he still started with them when they gave him a call to start work only because he did not want to remain idle and since his brother had refused to sponsor his university education, he wanted to use the resources he got from the job to pay his way through . He had his bath and prepared something for both his brother and himself after which he left to visit Mercy. They had been chatting when Mercy looked up and saw the way Felix was staring at her. He was staring at her with his heart in his eyes as though he wanted to eat her up. She had taken care with her dressing, this evening jnowinghe would visit. The woman in her wanted to captivate and keep him imprisoned to her and from the looks he was giving her, it would seem that she was succeeding. Felix could read her mind but he felt that she did not have to go through all that to get him because she already had him body, soul and spirit. 'You look extremely beautiful tonight's he started. ' hmm, you mean only this evening? I look like a monster at other times?' 'No that's not what I mean. You look beautiful every time but more so this evening. Your efforts paid off. You don't need to make too much effort on my account because it is virtually impossible to captivate me more than you already have because I am both your prisoner and your slave. What more is there when I breath because of you?' Mercy was so touched that she allowed her love for him to shine through. The moment became magical as they both starred deep into each other's eyes. Felix felt a pull he could not resist. He dipped his head and finding an answering response in Mercy'I s eyes of this unspoken request to kiss her, he pulled her mouth into his as she opened her mouth to receive him. The contact was electric and when Felix inserted his tongue into her mouth, she became faint with pleasure and desire shot through her veins. Felix was not doing much better and his breathing became laboured. He wanted to take her there and then. He was past all coherent thought and from the submissive feel of the woman in his arms, he knew she felt the same way. He did not want to take advantage of her and since he was older, he decided to bring the errant situation under control before he did what he may be blamed for later. So, he broke the kiss before he could stop himself from breaking the kiss.

Mercy staggered and would have fallen but he stadied her by placing his arms around her though he also needed some time to recover. Mercy felt so weak on the knees. And there was confusion in her eyes.
