Chapter 1 Love Can Be Most Painful

Felix boarded the bus travelling to Lagos. He had to get away from that village. The village that had brought him so much fame and pleasure and then love, which was also the cause of the pain he was passing through.

If anyone had told him that Gift would act the way she had, he would not have believed them at all but as it was, she did break his heart and for whom?

An older man who was not as handsome and as popular as he was and who may not be as virile but had a little more money than Felix did.

He didn't want to think about it but the thoughts kept running through his head.

He remembered that he was the most sought after young man in the village and that girls and women would do anything to get his attention. He had taken all that for granted until he met her and now he was moving away from that godforsaken place. It had become intolerable because of her.

He could not bear to remain there and keep seeing her with another man. It was tearing him to pieces. He knew it might look like he was a coward running away from facing the truth,but he had faced the hard truth of her betrayal and now he had to heal his broken heart. And the way to do that was a change of environment.

The young handsome man who was tall for his age and had great charisma and was admired by all was now left shattered by the girl he had made the mistake of falling in love with. But it had been so sweet while it lasted and he had thought that it would last forever.

A lot of ladies and young girls who were older than him found him attractive and irresistible.

He had been so popular. Those in the same school with him made him their school son while they called themselves, his school mother.

That was all before the heartbreak he had to suffer.

He didn't know the meaning of love but knew very well what desire and passion was. He had been taught by the most experienced of the ladies afterall.

When he fell in love eventually, it was like a whole new experience.

The girl in question was all he could ask for, he made her his queen but it was that same queen who later betrayed him and broke his heart to a million tiny pieces.

As the bus kept moving farther and farther away from the source of his heart break, he thought of what would become of him.

Was he ever going to find love again? No! The question was actually, was he ever going to believe in love ever again or allow himself to love again?

It was an explosive No!.

He would never put his life nor his heart on the line anymore.

'Love is overrated!' he said to himself.

He had been doing quite well with his ladies.

Yes it was true that he was known as a play boy and his women most times called him a bad boy expecially after their exploits in bed but that had never deterred him. Instead, he had thought of that as a compliment.

That was the life to live. Either he goes back to being a playboy or he would just live a life of a hermit because he did not want to get his heart broken again.

It was growing late. He felt wetness on his cheek and wiped them with his hands and that was when he knew that he had actually been crying.

'She is not worth it, damn it. She is not worth my tears ', he scolded himself but the tears increased as he saw her face in his head and the lips he had kissed so tenderly and how her body had moved under his and the feeling of euphoria he had always got whenever he stayed with her.

'It's all over now. Get a grip on yourself. At this rate,you might just find yourself going back to beg her to come back to you'.

He considered that and spat out.

'That will be over my dead body. She will come begging me because no one will ever love her like I did. But by then, it will be too late because I won't be caught dead in the same pit twice. Once beaten, twice shy.

He wiped his eyes this time and it was the final time as the bus got to his bus stop. He alighted, took his luggage and walked into the might in search of his elder brother's house. That was where he was supposed to stay till he got his own apartment.

What he did not know was that that trip was going to change the course of his life forever.

There were alot of surprises awaiting him and he would find that he was powerless to fight the forces of love.
