Chapter 7 Identity Swapping

Suddenly, there was a loud bang. Then the entire banquet hall fell into darkness. Everyone was in anxiety.

The sudden disappearance of the light made Sheila's eyes unable to adapt to the darkness for a while. But the tension in her heart gradually dissipated. Fortunately, the light went out in time. Gerald mustn't have seen her face clearly.

It was so dark that she couldn't see the situation around her. She subconsciously tried to find Gerald and deliberately called out in a low voice, "Gerald?"

"Don't move. Be careful not to fall," Gerald said after approaching her. His huge warm palm covered her back.

"I'll take you out first, so you can rest. Don't be afraid. I've already asked someone to deal with it. The power should be back soon." After saying this, Gerald held Sheila in his arms and walked towards the lounge with the help of the weak emergency light.

His strong masculine aura enveloped her, so she kept her head down all the time and didn't dare to look at him. But for some reason, an unprecedented sense of relief and security surged in her heart.

Suddenly, Miranda's voice sounded from behind. "Gerald, the banquet hall is in a mess now. Go and comfort the guests. I'll take care of Winnie."

Why was Miranda here? She was supposed to be at home, right? An ominous premonition rose in Sheila's heart.

Gerald pondered for a while. Then he whispered a few comforting sentences in Sheila's ear and left.

As soon as he left, Miranda quickly stepped forward, took Sheila into the lounge, and slammed the door shut.

At this moment, the light in the lounge was suddenly on, making Sheila close her eyes uncomfortably.

But someone grabbed her neatly combed hair. The next second, a palm landed on her face. Then Winnie shouted discontentedly, "How dare you wear my dress to seduce my man! Sheila, you are really a bitch!"

Sadness and grievance welled up in Sheila's heart at once. Why were they always bullying her? Why?

Could she only be Winnie's substitute forever?

Sheila looked at Winnie's face, which was similar to hers, and said, "It's you who went missing. Why are you blaming me? When did I seduce him?"

"And you dare to talk back now? Sheila, you seem to be getting bolder and bolder." Winnie glared at Sheila. She was so drunk last night that she had sex with several men. If it weren't for the bachelorette party, how could she have allowed Sheila to replace her at the engagement party?

"Winnie, we don't have time for this now. You two exchange your clothes first. Let's teach her a lesson when we get home. Then after changing, you go out first. You can't give yourself away," Miranda urged. She was afraid that if Winnie continued to deal with Sheila now, it would waste the time she had tried hard to buy.

Finally, Winnie stopped scolding Sheila. She took off her clothes and asked Sheila to take off her dress.

However, as soon as Sheila took off her clothes, Gerald knocked on the door. "Winnie, the banquet has started. Come out now."

The three women inside the lounge panicked at once. And Winnie was in such a hurry that she knocked off a cup on the coffee table, making a noise.

"Winnie, what is going on in there?"

When he heard the noise, Gerald was worried that something might have happened to Winnie. Then there was a long silence inside, so he nervously pushed the door open.

Inside the lounge, Sheila immediately lowered her head and held the dress tightly, trying to cover her exposed skin and half face with the mole. She was very nervous.

She tried her best to stay calm and not raise her head to look at the cabinet where Winnie hid. She stuttered, "My...my mom asked me to change into another dress before ... before making a toast to the guests. So I..."

While Sheila explained, Gerald looked around quickly. He found nothing unusual, but he saw that Sheila still buried herself in the dress like an ostrich. So he said amusingly, "I'll turn around, so you can put on the dress. Then let's go downstairs together."

He then turned around and pretended to look at the patterns on the door frame.

"Okay. Don't look at me," Sheila said timidly.

When Miranda saw that Gerald had turned his back, she quickly took the concealer to cover the mole on Sheila's face.

After she changed her clothes, Gerald wrapped his arm around Sheila's waist and they left intimately.

Inside the cabinet, Winnie stared at the backs of the two people, and her heart was filled with jealousy that seemed to burn in her eyes. The woman standing beside Gerald should have been her and not Sheila.

But there was nothing she could do, so she could only grit her teeth and swear to herself, "Sheila, I won't let you go this time."
