Chapter 4 Kneel Down And Swear

For a moment, the dining room fell into silence. No one expected that Winnie would refuse to let Sheila take off her glasses under such circumstances.

Sheila felt like her eyes were on fire, but she didn't dare to move.

She didn't forget that her brother's medical expenses still had to be paid by the Newell family.

So she smiled at Herbert, indicating she was alright. She had to wait until everything was over before she could check her eyes.

Gerald, who had just been sitting there in silence all this time, smiled and said sarcastically, "The Newell family is very kind to this girl."

Miranda quickly tried to mediate the situation. "Mr. Lamont, don't get Winnie wrong. She doesn't want Sheila's eyes to be touched because she means to ask a professional doctor to check on Sheila. After all, we don't have any medicine for scald here."

Winnie also realized that it was not the right time for her to throw tantrums, so she nodded and asked a maid to take Sheila out.

Then she pulled Gerald's arm fawningly and said, "Don't worry. Sheila has rough and thick skin..."

Gerald shot her a cold glance, making her stop talking and subconsciously freed himself from her grip.

Meanwhile, Herbert threw the wet tissue on the table and said resentfully, "Gerald, is this the woman you are going to marry?"

As soon as these words came out of his mouth, the members of the Newell family turned to Gerald and stared at him nervously.

They were afraid that Winnie's behavior just now annoyed Gerald, and he would suddenly cancel the marriage.

The expression on Winnie's face changed slightly, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Gerald, that night was my first time..."

"Don't worry, there won't be any changes in our marriage. We'll set a date for our wedding soon." Gerald interrupted her. Then he stood up indifferently and was about to leave.

"Gerald..." Winnie called out softly.

Gerald nodded without saying a word. When he walked to the door, he happened to meet Sheila, who had come back.

Enoch saw Gerald and Herbert off. As soon as they went out of the house, Winnie couldn't hold back her anger anymore. She dragged Sheila into the bathroom on the first floor.

She grabbed Sheila's hair and slammed her against the sink.

Her face was grim, looking ferocious. She was like a snake that was about to strangle its prey.

Are you very proud of seducing the two men from the Lamont family and letting them defend you?"

Sheila shook her head, wanting to explain. "No..."

But before she could say anything, Winnie snorted and grabbed her hair more tightly. "Your agent Saul Larson got you the substitute jobs, right? Why don't I give Saul a sum of money and ask him to leave you alone? Do you think you can still support your useless brother?"

"Winnie, please let me go. I really didn't seduce Gerald. Please..."

Upon hearing Sheila talking back, Winnie was so angry that she banged Sheila's head against the marble sink.

The excruciating pain made Sheila feel like her vision was black for a while. Sheila was in a daze when she heard Winnie make a phone call.

Without Saul's help, no one would give her a job. How could she afford her and Ivan's living expenses?

So she hurriedly pleaded, "Winnie, please, don't call Saul."

Winnie grabbed Sheila's hair again and forced Sheila to look at her. Then she said, "Okay. If you don't want me to call him, kneel down and swear that you will never see Gerald again."

"I..." Sheila clenched her fists to hold back the tears that were about to fall from her eyes.

"Hurry up!" Winnie yelled impatiently. Then she kicked Sheila.

Sheila bent her knees with difficulty and knelt on the cold floor of the bathroom, sobbing.

"I swear... I will never... never see Gerald again."
