Chapter 6 Kissing In Public

Miranda thumped the table with her hands, creating a loud bang. She gritted her teeth in anger, glared at Sheila, and said, "Do you think you are worthy of negotiating with me?"

Sheila was shocked by Miranda's reaction, but she pretended to be calm. She plucked up the courage to say, "The bride-to-be is missing. I wonder how the Lamont family will react to this."

Miranda was rendered speechless for a while, glaring at Sheila. If it weren't for the fact that Winnie was missing, she would never swallow her anger.

At the moment, she had no choice but to hold back her dissatisfaction and agree to Sheila.

Sheila breathed a sigh of relief. She could use the money to take Ivan away from the Newell family when he recovered.

By then, Gerald and Winnie would have nothing to do with them anymore.

All she wanted was to live a normal and peaceful life with Ivan.

The engagement ceremony was about to begin, so Enoch took Sheila to the hotel.

Miranda stayed at home to wait for news about Winnie.

When Sheila and Enoch got out of the car and were about to enter the venue, they were stopped by a waiter. Then he handed Sheila a gorgeous mask made of gold, explaining that there would be a masquerade ball at the opening of the engagement ceremony for fun.

Actually, it was Miranda who made some changes to the party after discussing it with the members of the Lamont family. And she did this so that Sheila would not be discovered.

As long as Sheila wore a mask, Gerald would never find out that the person he would be engaged to was not Winnie.

Sheila put on the mask handed by the waiter and got ready to enter the hall.

As she walked, she couldn't help swallowing her saliva hard. She became more and more nervous.

Then suddenly, there was a commotion at the banquet hall.

She looked in the direction where the noise was coming from. A tall man came out of the crowd and walked straight toward her, instantly outshining the people around him.

Gerald was wearing a crane-shaped half-face mask with exquisite, intricate patterns and textures. Obviously, the mask was expensive, which made him look more dignified and handsome.

Seeing that the distance between them was getting shorter and shorter, Sheila straightened her back unconsciously.

Fifty meters... Thirty meters... Ten meters.

Finally, Gerald stood still and looked at the shy bride-to-be in front of him. The corners of his mouth curved into a smile. He bent down slightly and reached out his hand like a noble gentleman.

Sheila held his hand, and their fingers intertwined.

Gerald noticed that Sheila's hand was slightly trembling. He lowered his eyes and smiled. Then he held her hand tightly and comforted her, "Don't be nervous."

At first, the ceremony was just a dispensable process for him, and he just wanted to do this for the two families.

But now, looking at the petite woman beside him, he inexplicably felt that getting married was actually good.

Sheila's heart skipped a beat. When she turned her head and looked at Gerald's handsome side face, her face flushed.

Everything was like a dream.

At the romantic and grand engagement party, she wore a white dress like a wedding dress and danced with the tall and handsome groom-to-be.

The warm applause brought Sheila back to her senses. She smiled faintly at the crowd.

She tried her best to suppress the bitterness in her heart, knowing that it was time to wake up from the dream.

Suddenly, someone from the audience shouted, "Mr. Lamont, you should kiss her!"

And the others echoed.

The atmosphere in the banquet hall became lively. Gerald looked at Sheila's eyes under the mask, which looked like a blue lake. He couldn't help thinking of that night.

His heart skipped a beat. He raised his hand, clasped the back of her head, and kissed her.

Sheila had not drunk yet, but she felt intoxicated. She couldn't help kissing him back.

They gradually kissed passionately until their tongues intertwined.

Sheila's heartbeat was almost out of control. She felt like tears were falling from the corners of her eyes. Such a passionate kiss made her feel scared. She was afraid that she would fall into an abyss, but she was still immersed in his tenderness.

After the kiss, Gerald gasped and looked at Sheila. He raised his hand and held her mask carefully and anxiously.

"Winnie, I want to see your face. Can I take off your mask?"

Gerald's words made Sheila's eyes widen, and her face quickly turned pale.

She remembered that she forgot to cover the mole under her eye because she was in a hurry to come here just now. Winnie had no mole under her eye.

But it was too late to stop Gerald. He was about to take off her mask.

The secret was about to be discovered.
