Chapter 4 Five Hundred Million Dollars

Everything Randall saw piqued his curiosity. He wanted to ask this woman, but he refrained himself.

"I came here to find out the truth," Randall said after taking a deep breath.

The old man laughed and turned around. "What can you do after knowing the truth? Do you have the power to seek revenge? I can give you anything you want. Is it evidence, wealth, dignity, or power? You name it! All you have to do is to promise me one thing. I can even find the robber who hurt you and take him to you."

Although Randall guessed who he was going to meet when he saw the name of the hospital, he was still excited upon seeing the old man.

This man was Randall's idol, the legendary doctor, Stewart Turner. He was known as one of the greatest doctors alive. Meanwhile, he was the richest man in the city.

Everyone in the medical field worshipped the ground that he walked on.

Randall felt unworthy to stand before such a man. He wondered why would Steward wanted him to promise him something.

Randall bowed his head and took a deep breath. Raising one of his hands, he said decisively, "I promise to do anything you ask!"

The moment he set eyes on Stewart, he knew that he was either in for it or about to hit a jackpot.

Randall knew that his life and career were in Stewart's hands. He was aware that he could be crushed easily if he dared to go against such a powerful man.

"Well, you can't achieve what I want you to do now, but you will after two years of training. You are a wise and talented young man," Stewart said with a faint smile.

Randall was confused.

What did Stewart want him to achieve? And what kind of training would he have to undergo?

"Mr. Turner, what do you mean?" Randall asked in curiosity.

"You will find out later. Let's talk about you first. As I said earlier, you are a talented young man. You will make a great doctor. Your damaged hand is the only thing restricting you now."

After saying that, Stewart picked up a small bell and shook it gently.

The door swung open a few seconds later.

A few doctors dressed in white entered the study one after the other.

Two of them grabbed Randall and pressed him on a stretcher.

Then, one of the doctors gave him a shot in the neck.

Randall felt a sharp pain in his neck. His vision suddenly became blurry and he felt lightheaded.

"Have a good sleep. By the time you wake up, the nightmare will be over. It will be a new dawn for you. The life you have never imagined will become yours!"

In a daze, Randall saw Stewart approaching. Suddenly, a far-fetched idea popped up in his mind.

Did Stewart want to operate on his right hand?

Randall's entire body was frozen by the time he was lifted onto the operating table.

His eyes were fixed on the operating lamp above him and he could hear the faint voices of the doctors before he finally fell unconscious.

It was the next day when Randall's eyes finally peeled open. The sun was shining through the gauze curtains. His vision was very blurry, so everything seemed unreal.

Still lying down, he slowly lifted his right hand and clenched his fist.

He realized that it wasn't shaking anymore.

His hand was actually steady. Not only that, he didn't feel any pain as he tightened his fist more and more.

Randall's eyes glistened as he stared at his hand. He noticed that there were a few small holes at the back of his hand, palm and wrist.

Despite his high IQ, Randall was only interested and talented in medical sciences and everything that had to do with health.

It was easy for him to tell at a glance that the small holes were caused by surgical needles. He imagined how the needles had pierced through his skin and blood vessels. It seemed like his nerves had been reconnected. However, he couldn't tell exactly how they had done it.

"I'm afraid you won't get the answer no matter how hard to ponder. The operation was done using highly advanced nanotechnology. Your broken nerves were reconnected. In the whole world, only about ten doctors are capable of performing such an operation. You are talented, but it's not something you can do. At least, not yet."

Stewart came into the room after pushing the door open.

It seemed like he had aged ten years within a few hours.

His back was hunched more than before. He also supported himself with a cane as he walked.

"Dr. Turner!" Randall sat up on the bed in surprise.

"From now on, I'm your teacher."

When Stewart noticed the surprised and confused expression on Randall's face, he smiled and explained, "I will teach you personally. You have great potential, lad. It won't be long before I can pass on all my knowledge to you. You will become just like me. No, you will surpass me!"
