Chapter 10 A Set-up

Brady blinked several times to make sure his eyes weren't deceiving him. How did Randall get in after his call was disconnected?

Dorcie caught sight of Randall. Her eyes lit up and she walked up to him hurriedly.

Randall secretly signaled Joshua to leave. The latter slipped into a corner and went out of sight.

Worry lines appeared on Dorcie's forehead when she saw the blood stains on Randall's clothes. She asked with concern, "Are you okay, Randall? Did you have an accident on the way here?"

"No, I didn't. I'm totally fine. The blood is not mine. It's a long story. Let's attend the seminar first," Randall responded, waving his hand.

Louise frowned when she walked over. She wrinkled her nose at him.

Before now, she had thought the guy they had been waiting for would come dressed in clean and formal clothes. But Randall had shown up in shabby clothes that were also stained with blood.

The impression Louise had of Randall was worse now.

After walking up to them, Brady questioned, "What happened to you, Randall? You have blood all over your clothes. Did you go to war today? Have you forgotten that this is a function for respected people in the medical field? Why did you show up like this? Don't you know that you will bring shame to Miss Riley when she tries to introduce you to other people?"

It was obvious that Brady wanted to run him down and stir up trouble, so Randall ignored him.

He knew that his truthful explanation would fall on deaf ears.

Like the troublemaker that Brady was, he would amplify his criticism instead of cutting Randall some slack.

He was one of the people who made it a point of duty to mock Randall since the car accident.

Randall didn't bother to explain. Thankfully, Dorcie didn't pry.

Smiling brightly, she held Louise's hand and drew her forward.

"Lest I forget, I should introduce this young lady to you. This is Louise Todd. Her former tutor went abroad, so I'm tutoring her now. I hope you both get along well."

Dorcie had a hidden agenda for introducing both of them. She wanted Randall to date Louise. She had heard of how Tonya betrayed him.

Without suspecting anything, Randall stretched out his hand to Louise with a polite smile. His eyes fed on her.

Louise had long silky hair that fell loose over her shoulders. The white shirt she had on under her light blue suit was so tight. Her breasts strained the buttons as if they were going to pop out any moment from now. She was more beautiful and sexy than Tonya.

Louise rolled her eyes when she felt Randall's gaze. She knew that she was drop-dead gorgeous. Although she was a lover of attention, she didn't want it to come from someone like Randall.

Brady knew that Louise was not only the most beautiful girl in her class but also a broadcaster of their school. He had taken a fancy to Louise. Now that he saw that Dorcie was trying to make a match between her and Randall, he was so unhappy.

"Randall, remember that your right hand is maimed. Be careful while you shake hands with her, so it doesn't get worse, okay?" Brady uttered loudly from a place of jealousy.

Louise knitted her eyebrows as she turned to look at Brady.

Brady gave her a detailed account of Randall's accident.

Dorcie snapped, "Shut up, Brady! I warned you not to speak so meanly about Randall. Don't you have any human sympathy?"

However, it was too late. Louise became even more irritated with Randall now that she knew he was handicapped.

She knew that Dorcie was trying to get her and Randall together. It wasn't that much of a big deal at first. But now, she couldn't tolerate getting to know such a person. There was nothing good about him in her eyes.

Louise ignored his outstretched hand and snorted, flipping her hair back. The scene immediately became awkward.

Randall coughed and withdrew his hand.

At this time, Brady snickered.

Silence then fell on all of them. But it was short-lived.

A man went up the stage and spoke into the microphone.

"Good day, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Mr. Wesson Medina's assistant. I'm here to apologize. Mr. Medina got into an accident on his way here. The seminar will be postponed for thirty minutes. If you are bored, you can go to the exhibition hall next door to take a look at the latest medical devices brought by Mr. Medina. I'd like to point out that each of the devices is worth millions of dollars. Please keep your distance while viewing them."
