She was at a loss. The one opportunity she had had to meet the guy who had changed her life forever was gone. The man had already disappeared around the corner and yet there she stood right where she had been when she had heard his words. She felt as though a walk did not matter at that moment since she had lost herself the opportunity to put a face to the voice. She however knew she had to push herself to take the walk but she needed more of a boost to enable herself to do that.
She headed in the general direction of the the main gate before heading to the convenience store that was a few paces outside of the estate. After getting herself a pack of cigarettes and a lighter before she proceeded back to the confides of the estate where she felt safe. She walked for a while before she found a bench and decided to sit for a while and enjoy her cigarette. She popped one into her mouth and light it before taking in a huge draw. It had been a while since she last smoked and she had forgotten that but the slight cough that came with that draw reminded her exactly where she stood with it.
She took a deep breath before trying again but this time she did a sizable draw that matched her pace and it worked wonders. She blew out the smoke and with it flowed out the anxiety she had been having since the moment she had heard his voice. She took her time admiring the lights and the sky in the area while smoking. She knew she could not smoke in the house least the woman who was like a resting bitch skinned her alive. If singing had brought her so much trouble only the gods knew how much terror would reign in her life if the woman found out she was smoking in the compound. She chuckled at the thought before taking a draw of smoke. She had missed this, the freedom that came with smoking. The feeling of relaxation of all her muscles whenever she blew out. With that feeling she could now think clearly of how things would have been if she had taken the time to look at the man's face and at least get some perspective of what he was but she had been stupid and shy, two things that were not supposed to go together.
"Anyway, whatever happens. Dit sal oukei wees (it will be okay)." She finished her cigarette then her walk before she headed to the house. It was quite late and so she did not bother herself making dinner. Instead she had some fresh juice that she had pre-made and sat at her desk trying to focus and study. All she could hear though was the man's voice over and over again saying the words he had spoken earlier. She felt as though it was so hard to concentrate and hence she decided to take the time and write to him as were her norm. It was only a week and she had already written a couple of letters for him. She took out her notepad and pen and got ready to write. She was anxious to tell him all she had learned about him that day and she felt ready to do it until she felt the pattering of footsteps from his side of the wall. There was a knock on what she assumed was his door and then there was some timid voices and laughter before she found out the one thing she had been dying to know.
"Uncle AJ, open the door for us please." A timid voice spoke quite loud that she heard it. She smiled as she repeated the name to herself. AJ she tested it on her lips feeling its ups and down on her tongue before she realized just how well the name suited the voice. She could already imagine herself calling him that to his face and seeing his reaction. The sweet sound of his name on her lips didn't even cut it. She liked it. She placed her pen on the piece of paper in front of her and let it glide into a now know name.
"Dear AJ
At least I am not going to call you anonymous again. I have a name for you. A name that suits you perfectly without even trying. People may not know this or may take it for granted and not inform you but your name is plenty amazing. I can come up with a hundred thousand explanations as to what your name can be but I choose to wait until the day I will find out fully. I do not know why I am babbling on a piece of paper but I can admit it is due to the excitement I am feeling about knowing your name and hearing your voice. Damn your voice. Boy are you a voice actor because I assure you I would do anything that you tell me to in that voice. I would like to hear how my name would sound from your lips. It sounds like it would be the most interesting thing I am ever going to hear. Do you sing? Because I am sure a song would sound so great if it fell from your lips. What am I even saying. I sound obsessed with you right now and yet I do not feel like I give a care about it.
I feel bad though. I met you but I did not get to see your face, You walked away before I could, or rather I walked away before I gave myself a chance to see you. I wish I saw you though. I wish your face was now engraved into the walls of my heart because then I'd have something to fan girl about. I know you will probably ask how I knew it was you but your voice is unmistakable and so are the chills it passes through my body. I felt it. I felt the moment you just said it and I knew it was you but I was too rush. Too shy to stay around and see your face when you caught me red handed thinking of you. I am ranting and I don't even have a face to the name. I know you are a man and that is especially enticing. I now really want to meet you and make things better between us right now. But I'm feeling a bit exhausted but we can talk more tomorrow.
Love
Peris."
She was satisfied with how she sounded in the little piece paper that she had written. It was like having a conversation with herself but indirectly. She read through it a final time before settling that it was good enough. She tore it off the pages of her book and folded it up as she usually did with all the notes she sent to him and then took her trusted shoe box storage laying it to sleep with a couple of others that she had written to him. She smiled as she took the moment to grab herself a bottle of water to down all her frustration and disappointment in herself for not being able to see his face. She denied herself the one privilege she had owed to herself. She capped her bottle before putting it back in the small fridge that she had. She changed into her silk nightwear that she only wore when she felt as though she needed to feel enticing or good enough to be with someone even though she was as lonely as they came. She got under her covers with a small smile on her face.
She did not know why she was so happy that night. It was either because she could hear him on the phone his voice was having the magnetic effect on her again or maybe the fact that she could hear him randomly touch some keys here and there as he spoke and it made her though run wild again thinking about all the talents he could be harboring. She squeezed her legs tightly against each other as she quickly turned to the side hoping that the less sinful position would let the thoughts leave her mind. She shut her eyes tightly and trued following the method her mother had taught her to help her fall asleep as fast as she could. She tried ridding her mind of all thoughts except rest and sleep, chanting the two words over and over again as she tried to get her mind to settle down. She needed her beauty rest and the fact that she could hear his voice didn't make it any easier. With time however she heard him stop talking then he started playing a soft soothing rhythm that had her slowly getting drowsy even though she wanted to stay awake, letting her fall into an abyss of darkness.
She was aware of his presence in her room. She could not see his face but she could hear him and touch him. It felt too good to be real but she wanted to believe anything when it came to him. She was already in love with the man with barely a week of knowing him. She looked at him starstruck trying to make out his face but it was impossible to see it. It seemed like a kind of fog had surrounded his face. He spoke to her however and he sounded exactly as the voice she had in her heart. She sat on her bed looking at him as he got to his knees and took out her shoe box from under her bed. She felt hedr whole body freeze up as she remembered all the letters she had placed there all addressed to him yet he was opening the small box. Freaked, she got out of the bed and quickly rushed to him trying to get the box from him but she did not let him. Instead he lifted it above his head a place where she could not reach and Peris knew immediately was to plead with him or let him see all the secrets she had locked in the small box.
"It is quite private to me. It contains information that I am not quite there at sharing yet and I would appreciate if you let it remain that way as of now but it is your choice whether to hurt me or let me be." She spoke in a resigned manner hoping to get his pity and cause him not to act in the manner he had intended on around her. She got back to bed and lay there looking in a different direction not wanting to watch and see him hurt her. She wanted to remain with the image of him that she had, the good guy who was considerate and who had fought for her when she had no strength to fight for herself. She felt a bit of shuffling before the bed dipped and she felt his arms around her. She felt his lips tickle against her neck causing a delicious spark to curse through her spine.
"I would never hurt you baby girl. I do not intend to do anything to harm you in any way. I want to protect you okay?" He spoke before he slightly kissed the back of her ear causing her to giggle before she nodded and closed her eyes feeling his arms around her waist. She could feel his breathing even as he encouraged her to sleep since she needed rest before school. She was feeling contented with is voice and his arms around her that she did not care that she could not see his face. It was probably because she had not managed to see him yet. She heard the shrilling sound from a far and it pulled her closer until she realized it was her alarm and she needed to get up from her dream. She slowly opened her eyes to find that she was the only one in the room the only company being the box on her desk, which she was so sure she had put away last night, and her shrilling phone.
