Chapter 7 Can't Hurt Mom

Selena Kapoor POV

Moms were on the lawn while Shruti was showing me the house. and Manik was also following us and he was really funny. She was showing me the rooms and of mom dad, on the ground floor, and on the 1st floor there was my room and study room was next to my room.

on the other side of the floor, there was shruti and Manik's room. After seeing their rooms Shruti brought me to the study room and she opened it after knocking Dhruv was sitting there in his formal suit and was perhaps in a meeting.

" And there is my brother, as usual making this home office. This study is for everyone in the house but I believe he can spend 24 hours in this."

" Well, I hope sister-in-law you are gonna change him. Trust me I have gotten tired of him and you know what because of his workaholic nature dad scolds me daily." Manik said that making a complaining face.

"My bro is just perfect he doesn't need any changing you need it monkey and Dad's right. One more thing, stop calling my handsome bro boring all the time. He is a real gentleman."

"Oh really, Lizard."

They both were teasing each other and Manik ran away after calling her lizard and she was running after him. I was smiling seeing them fighting like kids. I didn't have any siblings so I really missed this fun.

I was watching them and I didn't realize that Dhruv was standing behind me.

" Are you planning to block my way the whole day??"

"You wish !! I was here to see the study. As You are here I don't want to see anything now"

"It is my time for lunch. So if you please excuse me I have to change."

"They were so right about you. You are a machine actually."

he went to the room and I went down to see Mom after lunch, mom wanted to leave but mom Simmi asked Dhruv to drop her home.

"I will be coming with you too," I said to Mom

"No, I will manage you should stay here. You look tired and after your reception, you will be staying with me for some days. It is Okay."

Mom didn't agree and I knew she wanted to follow the tradition of brides visiting her parents' house after her reception or after a week after marriage. Mom went away and I came back to my room to take some rest but I was missing Mom now. I was sitting on the bed and was thinking of that when someone knocked on the door.

It was Mom Simmi.

"Can I come in?? Are you busy??"

"No, No, I am not busy at all. Please come in. "

" I wanted to ask if you are fine??"

"Yeah, I am fine. I am alright."

she sat near me and she was holding a box and she held my hand.

"I know leaving your Mom isn't easy. But don't worry I know she would never agree on staying with us so Raj and I decided to find her a new house nearby so she could visit you more often. "

Those kind words made me cry. I never imagined someone would take care of me and my Mom like that.

"No more crying. I am not a stranger. You can talk to me about anything and if Dhruv says something to you or teases you do tell me. I will take his class."

she then opened the box.

"This is our family's traditional Bracelet and every daughter-in-law gets this after the wedding. Now, it is yours."

she made me wear that and then after talking for some time she went back. I was feeling tired so I lay down and god knows when I slept there.

when I got up I noticed Dhruv was entering the room. He didn't switch on the lights and that was strange. He went to the changing room and after some time he lay down on the couch.

"You can sleep on the bed. I will sleep there."

"No, it is fine. I will sleep here. we will sleep on the couch on alternate days."

I didn't say anything and he slept. I stayed there and was thinking of all the love from the family. How am I gonna hurt them?? But I can't hurt Kartik either.

He was my boss and he proposed to me a long time ago. We were in a really serious relationship until last week I find out he was cheating on me so I broke up with him and in that anger, I said yes to this marriage.

Kartik was so upset with my marriage and he was convincing me in my last moments to break the marriage. I couldn't break Mom's heart. My mom was so happy I didn't want to make her unhappy.

But after I was brought into this bedroom. I was missing him badly. All those plans about our wedding and everything were gone. I was so sad until Dhruv gave me hope to be with Kartik again. I was happy and I was thinking of surprising him with this.

I was still in bed and I got up then and I went down. And at the evening tea, Everyone was sitting there and I joined them.

" Where is Dhruv??"

" he was sleeping so I didn't wake him up."

" He wakes up at his time always. Come sit he will be here soon."

Mom was right. Dhruv was there after a while and after the tea. Mom asked him about the plan.

" So, Dhruv where are you taking my daughter tonight??"

" Tonight?? I have got a lot of unfinished work Mom. Because of all the functions, I couldn't complete them. Now, I should be only working."

" No, your father has agreed and until your honeymoon, you guys are not going back to work.:

" But Mom."

"You are taking her out for dinner tonight and that's it."

" Selena, Raj was telling me that you don't want to work in Dhruv's company?? It would be good for you two. Why not??"

"Actually, Mom I am happy with my current job. I wanna work here for a while. I will change my job when it would be feasible."

" Just to be clear, this company is all yours. You can start working here anytime you want."
