Chapter 6 A Good Son-in-law

Selena Kapoor POV

We were enjoying breakfast when Aunt Simmi started complaining to my Mom.

"Gohar, it's so delicious but I am still not happy. Why did you bring it all?? I would have loved it if you have visited us without all this formality. I didn't like it."

"I know you didn't but I was so excited. I have only one daughter and Afterall, it was her wedding and I wanted to follow all the traditional stuff, and to be honest this traditional breakfast part is one of my favorite."

"It is so delicious Auntie. Really." Shruti spoke

"You like it?? "

"I love it all and especially this cheese Paratha's. "

Manik started praising my Mom's food.

"Didn't you like it Dhruv??"

Mom was asking him with a smile and he was making a straight face and he looked at My Mom.

"It's really nice. It's tasty."

He started eating again after answering my Mom's question.

"Well, that was so rude. I wanted to hit him so hard. I mean, come on man. Everyone loved my mom's food and there he was saying nice as if was giving us a favor."

I couldn't think of anything else so I just placed my foot on his feet.

I immediately moved my feet away because I was expecting a counter-attack but I was expecting something totally unusual from that boring angry bird.

Everyone was enjoying the breakfast and his mom asked me.

"Selena sweetie!! Were you comfortable here?? I mean it's a new place. Did you sleep well??"

"Yeah Aunt. It was comfortable."

"Don't call me that Darling. You can call me Mom like Dhruv."

"Okay"

Then finally Manik spoke.

" I heard Bro you were going to the office?? Really??"

"I looked at his face and he was trying to look away."

"Yeah, he is too workaholic Gohar. Even he was ready to go to the office. I can't tell you When I got up I have seen him sitting here and was going to have breakfast at his time. Honestly, I didn't know whether to praise him for his punctuality or should be mad at him for leaving his newly wedded wife at home."

Everyone started laughing hilariously listening to that and I looked at him and he was still sitting there with a serious face and was taking sips of his tea.

As soon as he finished he waited for everyone to finish, he got busy on phone. I was having my breakfast and after that when everyone was done he got up and was going to the room.

"Where are you going now??"

"To the office, I bet??" Manik whispered

"No, he must be going to open his laptop and start working as usual," Shruti replied

I was hearing both of them talking about that and he turned around and spoke.

"I have some office work. I am gonna work on that Mom."

Shruti smiled and Manik took out some cash and placed it in Her hand and she was waiving it to Dhruv.

"Thanks, bro I won again."

He went back to the room and Mom was asking me to take my Mom to my room. Even I didn't know anything about the house. I haven't seen it properly yet.

Mom and I were back in our bedroom and I was looking around he wasn't there. Mom sat next to me holding my hand.

"I told you they are so good people. Look how much they love you and you were concerned about all this. And seeing you happy I am satisfied now."

"Don't worry about me Mom. I am alright."

"How's Dhruv's behavior with you?? He is a really obedient and nice son."

"Yeah, Mom I know a very calm and compose. I wonder is he a Machine??"

"Shut up. He is your husband. Talk to him with respect now. And one more thing Don't be so careless. It's your home now. Take care of yourself and your husband too. "

"Okay, Mom. Don't worry Trust me I will handle everything."

"That's the actual problem. You don't take anything seriously. Be a good girl okay?? And don't be so messy here. And I know he is a nice boy he will take care of you. And please always think before saying anything okay??"

"Okay, Mom. Stop giving me lectures. Come here. I miss you."

I hugged her and as I parted away I was seeing tears in her eyes.

"Mom, stop crying now. I told you to come and stay with me here."

"That impossible. You know that. They are just tears of my Love and Joy. I would be happier if they would praise you too."

"Mom, trust me I won't let you down."

I was hugging her when someone knocked at the door and Maid was entering.

She said hello to me.

"Hello Mam I am 'divya'. I was here to clean the room."

But honestly, there wasn't anything dirty in the room.

"What's dirty here?? Everything is so perfectly clean. "

"But mam Dhruv sir strictly advise me to clean his room at least twice a day."

"Twice??? Really??? No there's no need for that now. I will call you when I want to. You can go."

"But Mam Dhruv sir will be so angry.."

"He won't be don't worry."

She went away.

"If he is concerned about this why were you stopping her?? You should know about his likes and dislikes too."

"Mom, stop complaining now."

I stayed with her and then we went down Mom Simmi was in the kitchen and was advising the maid.

I went in and she introduced me to the staff. And they said hello and then she came out and sat with us.

"I should go now Simmi. It's been so much time."

"No, not at all. The lunch will be ready sooner and you can't go without having that."

"There wasn't any need for that."

"Oh really?? You are saying that??"

She smiled and Mom agreed to stay till lunch.
