Chapter 6 Meeting the parents

"Hi, I'm Bunny's mom we're next door neighbors. We actually live three houses down the left side, across the street." Curts mom Glances down noticing her son "Curtis! Hi there baby." Then looking back up at the woman in front of her. "Umm, hi there was Curtis bothering you folks or something." Curtis mom says in slurred words.

Her face also making drunken expressions looking like she's been picking at it. "Honey who is it." Asks a man who fumbles up behind her. "Oh just the neighbors." Curts mother says. "Well what do they want!" Pushing the door to open up further, trying to see for himself. "Well Jesus Frank, I don't know!" Curts mom replies while pushing the door to a slant while pushing him back out; Trying to shield herself from further embarrassment. Either way you can tell from a glance as to how dirty the house was. Weather or not, if Frank were to hold the door open, you could still see all the trash on the floor and a fowl stench hiking up your nose. The dogs start barking from behind them. "Hey! Shut the hell up!" Frank yells at the dogs while turning to walk away. You can see the track marks on their arms. Curts mom was wearing a white tank top, jean shorts and chewing some gum. Lighting up a cigarette she says, "Sorry about that. You were saying."

Looking back up at Bunny's mom after lighting her cigarette and taking a drag. Stepping further out onto the porch exhaling the smoke, leaning over and resting her arms on the old peeling painted green railing that goes around her house. "Uh, yes. I'm Estella, Bunny's mom. You can call me Stella. I was wondering if it's okay for Curtis to spend the night over." Curts mom looks over at her son a few steps down just were the railings ends. "Finally making friends hun!?" Curts head is down with his hands in his pockets kicking the pebbles (tiny little gray Rocks) down by his feet. He exhales a sigh "Yeah." While dragging the words and shrugging his shoulders like it's no big deal. Stella stretchs out her hand to shake hers and gestures for her name. "Rakel." Nodding her head at Rakel. "Nice to-, "Boy!!!!!!!, get your butt in here! Stop giving those people a hard time!" Snapping both Stella and Rakels head back to the direction of the door where Frank's voice came from. "Kells." She says. "My friends call me Kells." Looking at Stella then back over towards the door. "It's fine Frank! Curt just made a little friend! They wanna know if he can spend the night!" She shouts back. You can her him mumbling and grumbling. Obviously he's rambling on about something but nobody can make out what he's saying. Kells just looks over at Stella, "Yeah, I don't have a problem with it. I mean I don't see why not." Stella looks over at Curtis and asks "You wanna get anything you might need while you're here?" Curt not Looking up "No." Frank comes back out the house "You're not gonna say bye to your mother, boy!" Curtis looks back up to his mom heading towards her direction and gives her a hug then turning to walk back towards Bunny's house. Stella fallowing closely behind Curtis asks why he didn't wanna grab anything while they were there saying "You sure you're not going to need anything?" Curtis scrunches up his face "naw, I'm good." His head is still down staring at his feet while he walked. "Look both ways." Curt glances up to look left then right before street. They both reach the house and she tells him "Why don't you go up to Bunny's room; door open, and I'll be up there in a minute. Bunny then comes running down the stairs "Curtis!" He looks up and watches as she hops over the last step. "Let's watch a movie?" Curtis laughs a bit, "We never did decide who chooses the movie." "Well I did beat you to the backyard!" Said Bunny. "Okay Bunny." Said Curtis. "What you wanna watch." Bunny shrugged not knowing. "Oh, I know! How about while I pick out the movie, you go to the kitchen and get the snacks!" "Okay, but.... huh, Bunny?" "Yeah Curt?" "Where are they?" Bunny laughs it's his first time over of course he doesn't know. "I think mom and dad have them fixed up on the counter. It's a bowl filled with gummy worms, bears, sour patch kids, and gushers! "Grab two sodas too! We're not supposed to have those. There are usually juice boxes in the fridge, but I think we can get away with it tonight." Says Bunny. Curtis just laughs to go get the stuff. Bunny starts digging through this crate filled with old movies. She comes across this old movie The Velveteen rabbit. One of her favorites. Curtis comes back with the snacks and puts a cherry soda in front of her. She smiles while filling her mouth with gummy worms. Talking with her mouth open "thank-, gage cough, cough." They both start laughing and soda comes out Curts nose. Making both of them laugh so much harder. Bunny pushes play. Curtis wasn't big about the movie but he didn't mind it either.
