Chapter 5 Play Date

Bunny's POV

Mommy came to pick me up because daddy started his other job a little earlier then usual. Usually daddy would drop off before school started and start his next job a little after school ended. So, he could spend some time with me before leaving to another job by the time I'm already in bed. "Mommy!" I ran up and gave her a hug. "How was school today darling?" She smiled. "I honestly don't know how to put it. I mean it wasn't the best day ever but I made a new friend!" I said point over at Curtis who seemed to be already walking down to the cross guard. "Mommy he's our neighbor. Do you think we can start giving him rides? He live practically across the street!" My mom looked at him and I could tell she was noticing his appearance.

I looked over to the person my daughter was pointing at. I noticed a boy who looked like he need a bath. Our neighbor? I've never noticed him before. Doesn't he have anybody to care for him? I looked at my daughter to answer her question, "Yes, let's go offer him a ride home." Besides letting him walk knowing how far we lived wouldn't be right. After all we are all going to the same place. I pull up next to him in the car, slowing down to his walking. There are not very many cars behind me and asked him if we would like a ride. He looks at me and shakes his head. "No thank you." "Well are you sure? Because since we are all going to the same place we could easily just drop it you off home. Unless you woud like to stay for dinner."

Curtis POV

I couldn't turn down the opportunity for food. I already know her family eats weird but it was better then anything I was gonna get at home. So, I then agreed and got in to the back of the car. W Bunny's mom POV

When he got in the car I had to drive with the windows rolled down. I felt bad for the boy! It made me wonder where his parents were or if they even cared about him. He looked so pale and thin I just couldn't even begain to imagine when he last ate. I know my husband is gonna have a fit when I explain this to him.

Bunny's POV

We pulled up to the house. I ran out all excited to show Curtis my room, my living room my back yard, my toys and all my favorite movies. I grabbed hand and started to tug him out the car. "Come on, come on!" I pull on him some more. I'm trying to rush him out the car but he doesn't seem as excited as I am or maybe I just can't tell. I hold his hand running into the house. Still holding his hand as we ran up the stairs. As we entered my room that when I finally let go and started showing him all my dolls, doll house, and my toy kitchen set with my China tea set! As I looked at his face he seemed uninterested and that's when I realized "Ohhh yeah, sorry this stuff must be so boring to you." He's a boy of course he'd be uninterested in all this stuff. "Wanna go outside in the back yard? There's a slid my dad built me and a set of swings." He nodded his head yes. "Okay, well first one there gets first choice!" "First choice?"Curtis asked. "Yeah, of a movie you want to watch." We both looked at eachother before bolting back down the stairs and out the back door. We raced to the top of the slides and raced down and up them again. We made a contest who could swing the highest and who could jump the farthest. Mom called us in for dinner and dad was there. "Daddy!" I screamed "Sweetheart, how's my baby girl doing, huh?" I made a new friend today see!" And introduced him to Curtis. My dad looked at him then my mom. "Nice to meet you Curtis will you be staying for dinner?" "Uh maybe not." Scratching the back of his head, he then says "I should probably get going." My mother then cuts in, " Oh no honey don't worry about it if you're worried about your parents permission I'm sure we can all walk over there and ask." While looking at my dad with a stern look. My father then says it's fine why don't you stay and eat. "Okay" Curtis says.

Dinner was Ready. My mom set plates on the table and put some barbecue glazed chicken wings on the table with a side of green beans and potato salad! We each had our own glass and I told my parents about those mean boys from school. I told told them about how I was sharing my lunch with Curtis and they just came out of no where and started bullying him. I also explained how I stood up for him. My parents seemed mad but my mother then looked in Curtis direction. "Curtis." My mother continues, "Would you like to dress hen up and stay the night?" My father looks at my mom like he's ready to say something but my mom is staring at him like he better not. Curtis cleared his throat catching on to the tension saying "It's actually already really late and I hadn't even checked in with my parents yet I should really actually get going. Thank you though, for tdinner I mean." My says ohh it's fine I can actually go let them know myself just enjoy yourself and think about it for a little before you decide you want to go home. My mother then asked "Which house is yours again." As she's getting up from the table and grabbing her jacket. "It's that greenish one over there." He points to it. It already looks dirty. The yard seems to be filled with junk and trash. "Knock, knock." A very drunk and faded women opened the door. "Curtis, baby is that you?" Looking a squinting her eyes only to find a lady standing in front of her.
