Chapter 8 New Reality

The fight between them made their relationship worse. After Penny was taken home, Philip locked her in her room every day on the basis that she needed to recover instead of stressing herself. However, she knew that this was just a punishment for the slap she gave him at the hospital. He ordered the servants to give her food at the right time and take her to the garden in the backyard to bask in the sun at an appointed time every day. In summary, she had no freedom to do anything.

Philip was in full control of the Lou household. All the servants who didn't respect him in the past were now afraid of him.

Although Penny was the real heiress of the Lou Family because she was Cody's niece, Philip controlled everything that happened in the house and the company.

If he gave any order at home, no one dared to disobey. Neither did they have the guts to stand up to him.

Penny knew that her efforts would be futile if she resisted his laws. So, she allowed him to give the orders.

After the incident at the hospital, Philip found an excuse to send Samuel on a business trip to the J City. He ordered him to handle a difficult project that would take a long time to execute.

With the close friendship between them, this kind of hard task would not have been given to Samuel on normal grounds. However, he was saddled with this responsibility because of his involvement with the offender, Penny.

Philip knew in his heart that his wife was the one that deliberately annoyed him and that Samuel was innocent.

However, he was a narrow-minded and egoistic man. He knew that he couldn't deal with Penny. So, he decided to vent his anger on another person.

As Samuel embarked on the business trip, he knew exactly why Philip sent him away.

Although a work appointment was used as a cover-up, he could tell that this was a secret punishment for him.

Nevertheless, he didn't complain because he had no choice. He even felt lucky at that moment. After all, he had been having a hard time settling the war between the newlyweds and also making sure that he wasn't dragged into their conflict.

This trip was a breath of fresh air for him.

Penny rested at home and her ankle healed completely in two weeks.

Philip had just gone to bed some minutes after twelve o'clock midnight. By one o'clock, he was woken up by the noise of someone entering and leaving a room on the same floor as his.

In the past two or three years, he had been suffering from a nervous breakdown. He had seen a lot of doctors, but there was no progress. In fact, it seemed like it got even worse.

Now his ears were at alert. He lifted his quilt irritably, got out of bed and walked out of his room.

Although he was legally married to Penny, they continued to sleep in separate bedrooms like they were just housemates. Due to the hatred between them, they didn't want to share a bed.

When Philip got to her room, he saw that her door was slightly opened. Immediately he pushed it open, he saw her sitting on the window sill casually with a bottle of red wine in her hand. Her hair was ruffled and she was wearing a silk nightgown. In his eyes, she looked like a female drunkard with mental illness.

When Penny heard the creaking sound of the door opening, she didn't even raise her eyes to see who it was. She just continued to drink the wine slowly. Droplets of wine dripped from her lips and her eyes were blurred and filled with amorous feelings.

Seeing this, Philip's irritable mood instantly turned into lust.

His bright eyes sparkled with evil lust.

"Who allowed you to drink?"

"Ugh! I just want to drink. It's none of your business!"

The strong aroma of the wine filled the summer air. He suddenly saw the palm prints on her face. Within a split second, his eyes narrowed and he pulled her down from the window sill. "Did you go to the attic upstairs? Why did you go there? Are you courting death?"

His tone was harsh and aggressive.

Penny was amused as she saw him behave this way. She said drunkenly, "Mr. Yu, why are you getting nosier as the days go by? My sister lives in the attic upstairs. Don't I have the right to see her?"

"No, you don't. She's crazy!" Philip's answer was very straightforward. He wondered if Penny really didn't understand the dangers of going there or she was just pretending to be naive. Due to the madness of that woman, she wouldn't care whether Penny was her little sister or not. As Philip stared at his wife's indifferent face, his blood boiled with rage.

"Pardon me for not reminding you that this household has undergone tremendous changes in the past three years. You need to be very careful from now on. If you behave stubbornly because she's your sister and she hurt you in derangement, I will never save you!"

"Oh! You plan to watch with pleasure as she kills me."

Despite his threat, Penny didn't seem to care at all.

Her words were filled with sarcasm and nonchalance. Squinting her eyes, she asked, "Mr. Yu, now that you are the chairman of the Lou Group, do you feel that you have finally made it to the top and can do whatever you like? You must not forget that you were my uncle's lackey. If he hadn't adopted you from that substandard orphanage years ago, you might have starved or even frozen to death. Do you think you would have had the chance to stand in front of me and boast? Humph! What a joke!"

Looking at the hurt expression on Philip's face, her smile became brighter, cold, gorgeous and mean.

She had spoken many hurtful words to him. They were like sharp spears piercing into his heart.

When they were still in a good relationship, Penny had loved him wholeheartedly and she never thought of mocking him with his background or current situation. But now, she hated him more than she ever loved him.

Despite her hurtful words, Philip just gritted his teeth and smiled. "It's true that I used to be a common lackey. But now, I'm your master and husband. Penny, why haven't you come to terms with your new reality?"
