Chapter 7 Unexpected Slap

Since Penny only suffered from a minor injury, there was no need for her to be admitted to the hospital. The doctor just applied the ointment and bandaged her sprained ankle. He then prescribed some medicine that she would have to take at home while resting.

When Samuel went downstairs to the pharmacy to purchase the prescribed medicine, Philip and Penny were left alone in the ward.

After a moment of silence, Philip's eyes fell on her face. He said in a serious tone, "Stay away from Samuel from now on!"

Penny was no longer crying from the pain. Philip had injured her today and he wasn't even remorseful. Staring at him, the hatred she had for him intensified.

Therefore, she deliberately said something to irritate him. "Why should I stay away from him? Mr. Yu, why are you getting so worked up? I was only playing with your assistant. It's none of your business."

"Huh? Did you just say that you were playing with him? When I caught you in bed with that little model three years ago, you also said to me, 'It's nothing. I just did it for fun.' Shame on you!"

Although Philip didn't want to talk about the past, he couldn't help but make reference to it now that he was angry because of her indifference.

With a blank expression on his charming face, he slowly approached her. Penny was sitting up on the bed and he stood in front of her. She defiantly raised her head and looked into his eyes.

"Penny, I advise you not to challenge my authority anymore. If you do, the repercussions will be very dire." He reached out and pinched her chin. "Don't forget that the Lou Group would have collapsed long ago if I wasn't supporting it. You would have also lost your position as the heiress of the Lou..."

"Don't talk like you are the savior of the Lou Family. You became too ambitious three years ago and Uncle Cody's death increased your greed for power." Penny interrupted him impatiently. Then, she continued, "He has only been dead for a few weeks. Look at yourself now."

Penny hated to see him behave like a savior. She felt that he was so ungrateful and thought too highly of himself. When Philip was just a little boy who lived under the Lou Family's roof, he was sober, restrained and had no trace of arrogance in him. But now that he was the chairman of the company, he changed into a whole new person.

"Why were you in such a hurry to marry me? Isn't it because you wanted to secure your position in the Lou Family and have more rights to the inheritance? Do you need me to explain how important the title of the son-in-law is to you? Even if you have decided not to thank me now that you have this title, you should at least bear it in mind that I made everything possible for you."

Since Penny knew how important this title was to him, she used the knowledge to her advantage. Philip was an arrogant man, but she was more arrogant than him. She continued with an evil smirk, "Don't you dare get carried away with the power that comes with being the chairman of the Lou Group. If you piss me off, I will divorce you now and marry someone else. You will become a pauper once again. Then, you will know who is the real boss."

If words were the most injurious weapons, it would mean that they had attacked each other ruthlessly. Since they were still at loggerheads, it seemed they wouldn't stop or be satisfied until they saw each other's blood.

Philip wasn't surprised by her outburst now. He had always known that she wasn't someone that could be messed with. Since Penny was a child, she was mean and always bullied anyone that dared to stand up to her. Even though the Lou Family was no longer as prosperous as before, she was still as proud as a peacock.

"Did you just say you would marry someone else?"

Philip's attention was focused on her threat to divorce him.

"Well, I must say that I am not very surprised. After all, you have always had a lot of options since childhood. You slept with that model three years ago. Now you even want to seduce Samuel?"

Penny frowned with disgust and said, "My prospects are much better than you can ever imagine. Do you think I only want Samuel? Humph! You are wrong. I can get any man I want at the snap of my fingers!"

"Penny, don't flatter yourself too much. I've dated you for so many years. No one is willing to marry you now. You are filthier than a prostitute!"

For so many years, Philip had tried to let go of the anger and irritation he felt towards her. But as he was faced with her verbal provocation, he lost his temper and roared at her without thinking twice. He wasn't bothered about her feelings at all.

All of a sudden, Penny stood up and slapped him hard across the face. A spark of rage was burning in her eyes and she was breathing heavily.

This was the first time they had a violent altercation since they met again.

As far as Penny was concerned, he deserved it. She just couldn't sit and watch as he compared her to a prostitute.

"Ah! What happened? She just slapped Mr. Yu!"

Samuel muttered to himself. He had gotten the medicine from the pharmacy downstairs and came back hurriedly. When he arrived at the door of the ward, he saw the heated scene.

Penny endured the pain in her ankle, wore one of her shoes and then placed the other shoeless foot on the ground. Clenching her fist tightly, she glared at Philip who was standing in front of her.

Watching this scene from outside, Samuel swallowed nervously and contemplated on what to do. He didn't know whether to go in and stop the fight or stay outside.
