Chapter 8 Almost Starved To Death

Before she moved out of her childhood home, Bonnie had no idea that she had so many clothes.

Two of her big suitcases lay on the soft white carpet, mocking her how she didn't know it.

'Exactly how long would I be unpacking all these things?' With a sad pout, Bonnie fell down to sit on the carpet.

It wasn't that she didn't want to ask for help. After all, there were plenty of servants in the Zhuo household. But everyone from the butler to the gardener must have been told by Gavin to ignore her.

'Screw it. I can do this!' After complaining for a few more minutes, Bonnie started sorting through her clothes. She stood up and opened the two suitcases. To her surprise, clothes spilled over once they were open.

Two hours passed by quickly.

Bonnie was at least halfway done unpacking when her stomach grumbled, reminding her that she needed to eat.

'I don't think Gavin Zhuo would be so stingy and not offer me lunch, right?' Bonnie patted her empty stomach as she went downstairs to look for food.

Sadly, it turned out she was wrong.

She looked forlorn at the empty dining table and the big kitchen. She had never felt as poor as she did at that moment.

"Oh my God!" Bonnie howled in annoyance.

She turned to the fridge to see if there were any fast food. Before she could stick her head into the fridge, a servant stopped her.

"What are you doing?" the maid asked with a stoic expression on her face.

"I'm hungry. I'm going to find something to eat." Bonnie ignored the maid's rude tone. Her priority right now was to find food. And besides, she was practically a guest here. She must respect their rules and adjust to them.

Bonnie had always considered herself as an easygoing person. But the maid was testing her patience. The maid raised her nose at Bonnie arrogantly.

"The time for lunch has passed. There's no food left,"

the maid answered in a haughty tone as if she were issuing an imperial edict.

Bonnie's eyes twitched in annoyance. Patiently, she asked the maid, "Do you say the same thing when Gavin Zhuo asks for food?"

The maid smiled disdainfully. "Mr. Zhuo is the master of the house. What are you?"

'Who are you?'

'What are you?'

She was pretty sure she heard the maid ask the latter.

"Okay, tell me when you serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner then," Bonnie said as she stood straighter. She felt that only an idiot would continue to fight this ludicrous battle.

But she couldn't starve every day just because she didn't know there was a system they followed in this house. She could ask when the meal times were. That was easy.

"When Mr. Zhuo is at home, the meal time is up to him."

'I know. Mr. Zhuo is the king here. His orders are law. You don't have to repeat it all the time.'

"So whenever he's not at home, what time do you serve the meals?"

Obviously, the maid was waiting for Bonnie to ask this question. She smiled victoriously.

"When Mr. Zhuo isn't at home, we don't use the kitchen of the main house. We servants have meals in the dining area of the small house."

Bonnie clenched her teeth. She wanted to pounce at this maid and bite her as if she were a lion tearing out its prey's skin.

Did she really have to fight to eat food whenever Gavin was not at home? This was too much!

Bonnie chose to take this as a battle she lost. She retreated and waited for Gavin to come back. As a result, she felt as if she would starve to death by the time Gavin made it home. It was already ten o'clock in the evening.

After changing his shoes, Gavin found Bonnie was looking at him with her eyes full of expectation.

He took a quick glance at the clock on the wall. It was almost ten forty-five in the evening.

With a cold expression on his face, he turned to look at Bonnie. "What are you doing? Haven't you figured out what our relationship is yet? You don't need to play the role of a doting housewife."

'What's wrong with this woman?' he thought.
